In this video, belly dancer Irina Akulenko teaches you how to do hip lifts and a basic shimmy. You'll be shaking it like Shakira in no time. So, now, we are going to go over the basic hip lift. Let's assume our basic belly dance posture position. So, the legs are right under the hip bones. Knees are bent. Lower abs are tucked, chest lifted, arms out. And now you are going to bend the knees even more than before and focus on lifting one hip at a time by straightening one knee at a time. So, as you straighten the right knee, the right hip will come up and it is going to shoot straight up into your body. So you want to think about meeting your hip bone up to the ribcage coming back down to center. Switching over to the other side, straightening that knee, coming back down. Make sure you're keeping your heels on the floor and you are not lifting up with any point. And again, lifting the hip up and back down to neutral position, the other side back down to position. Now, skip that hold in the middle and you're going to go up, and up and up, and up. And, the closer your are to the ground, the easier it will be to find that isolation. Let's try that with music. And a little bit faster, keeping your heels on the floor, chest floating out, arms relaxed. Make sure you are not moving in space and your head is not bopping up and down. And faster. And full speed. And that is the basic hip isolation.

Watch more Dreams & Dream Interpretation videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/35924-How-to-Lucid-Dream Learning how to lucid dream—that is, to be aware during your dreams that you are, indeed, dreaming—will allow you to live out fantasies, stop nightmares, and even road test some solutions to real life problems. Step 1: Start a dream journal Keep a journal and a pen next to your bed so you can immediately record everything that happens in your dreams. You’ll begin to see patterns, and that will help you realize when you’re actually in the middle of a dream. Step 2: Adopt some new habits Look intently at mirrors, book titles, and your watch face several times a day. In dreams, these images are always blurred. Looking at them while awake will increase their appearances in your dreams, helping you recognize when you are dreaming. Tip Pinching yourself when you’re awake is another good way to train your brain to recognize when you’re dreaming, because when you pinch yourself in a dream you feel no pain. Step 3: Talk to yourself Tell yourself as you drift off to sleep that you’re going to have a lucid dream. Research shows that simply instructing your brain to realize you’re dreaming—especially when you’re in the suggestible pre-sleep phase—helps boost your odds of doing so. Step 4: Set an early alarm Set your alarm half an hour earlier than normal. When it rings, stay awake 30 to 60 minutes, then go back to sleep. Because you likely interrupted dream-intense REM sleep, you’re now 20% to 50% more likely to have a lucid dream. Tip So George Clooney is about to kiss you and you feel like you’re starting to wake up? Pretend to spin around in circles. This keeps the dream going 96% of the time. Step 5: Start directing Once you’re attuned to the fact that you’re dreaming, start altering the action. Fly over mountains. Tell off your mother-in-law. Have a 'dream' date. You can also test problem-solving scenarios, practice sensitive confrontations, and speak to loved ones who have passed. Did You Know? Lewis Carroll was inspired to write Alice in Wonderland after having a lucid dream.

We're in New York. And I'm going to teach you how to tie the Merovingian knot. It's also called Ediety knot. So the way you want to start for this knot, it's a knot that goes around the narrow side quite a few times, so you want to wear the wide end fairly long compared to the narrow end, probably about 20 inches below depending on the length of your tie. So this is how you start. The wide end goes underneath the narrow end. You go over the top once and pull it out on the same side. So this is what you have. Now you go over to the front, underneath through the back, and now you should be in this position so the tie is upside down. So this is a tie from my friend Cara Patrizio from Capelli in Naples, Italy. And this is how you proceed. So your tie is upside down. You go around the back, through the top. You're almost there. Now the last step you have to complete is reverse the knot, loosen it gently, and slide the white part inside the loop that you've created for that. Adjust it nicely. Tighten the knot, and there you go. You have your Merovingian knot. So after spending so much time tying the knot, it's something you don't want to wear when you're really casual. It's really a knot that is used in formal occasions, probably wearing a three piece suit, for example, or a nice blazer. And definitely going with a sophisticated look with this type of knot. The guy who created this knot probably watch Matrix a little bit too much, but this is probably where the name came from, the Merovingian knot.

Watch more Boot Camp: Learn about Basic Training videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/498622-What-Military-Branch-Should-You-Join-Boot-Camp Let's review some of the basics about each branch. First of all the marines, they are considered riflemen first. They have more marksmanship training than any other branch, and it has the most difficult basic training regimen. They have the incredible ability to convert dollar power into combat power, as they have no big budget like the Air Force, but they also have lots of military pride. Let's talk about the army, which has the second most intense basic training regimen. They have about three weeks of marksmanship, and recruits can pick from hundreds of different MOS's, which stands for military occupational specialty, and those MOS's translate well into civilian jobs. The navy: deep rooted with tradition, and if you like to travel this is the branch for you. Family men might want to consider the time they are going to spend away from their family though, given the fact that all of the time you are going to spend on ships. Also, if you are claustrophobic, it might not be a good idea to join the Navy, as you are going to be spending a lot of time in tight quarters. If you like large vessels and ships, the Navy is definitely the way to go. They have an awesome inventory of powerful ships. Let's talk about the Air Force. An impressive compilation of machinery and technology. If you are good with computers and technology this is definitely the branch that you should join. It also has the best housing of all the branches too. It's also the most difficult to get into as far as education requirements. The Coast Guard, Uncle Sam's little canoe club. If you like search and rescue missions, if you have an interest in maritime law, if you like environmental protection this is gonna be a good branch for you. You are going to need a high school diploma, and you are going to need to love to swim in order to join the coast guard. And that's it. Think long and hard about your decision because it is difficult to change once you have committed to a certain branch.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as crazy as you might think. In this video, he tells you seven cool facts about bearded dragons. When we think of the continent of Australia, we think of unusual animals right away, from kangaroos to platypuses to wallabies. They're all over there in Australia, it seems. But there are some that are not that unusual, just fantastic creatures. And one of them is the Pogona Vitticeps, the Bearded Dragon. There's a number of different species in Australia, but the popular one is the dragon you see in front of you here, that has dominated the pet world now for the last 20 to 25 years. In their native Australia, they're inquisitive creatures that easily inhabit areas where people are. They like to climb fence posts and look out to see what's going on. Males will dominate a territory and have multiple females as mates. And they're prolific breeders. They have up to 20 eggs at a time and they dominate the landscape they come from. They're quick when they have to be to escape predators. They're extremely fast runners. For the most part, they're kind of sit there and look out and see what's going on animals in the wild. They're very fun and animated to watch. They'll eat a variety of things from insects to greens to small pieces of meat, such as rodents. Bearded Dragons are largely protected now in their native Australia. They're no longer exported, which is very good. Thank you, Australia, for allowing us to have some of them. But because of their prolific nature, they are no longer hunted there and they're free to multiply and grow in Australia without any danger of being threatened by the pet trade or by confiscation. The Bearded Dragon gets his name, as you can see, the big male here is going to get a little territorial. First he gets up on his front limbs. And if he gets really agitated with the smaller one in front of him, he'll do two things. First, he'll start bobbing his head up and down to say, "I'm the biggest dragon in this area, so back off." And if that doesn't work, he actually throws out his throat. It turns black and he puffs it out. It looks like a big black beard. And that's where the animal gets his name. The Bearded Dragon will do that every time an animal is reintroduced into its area. If he wants to threaten it, he will throw that beard out. Sometimes in captivity they don't bother doing it anymore because they're so docile by nature and he knows this other dragon, so he's not really doing it at this moment. But two males together, one will dominate the other. He'll say, "I'm the biggest dragon here." If the other one is of equal size and equal temperament, they will fight. If not, the smaller one actually submits. And what they do is take their arm and they move it ever so slowly in a counter clockwise direction and the larger dragon will understand that that's like a person saying, "Don't hit me." He puts his hands up and says, "I don't want to fight." So, they work things out together in nature. In nature, of course, they can disappear and run in different areas. In a captive environment, they have to have that submissive language going back and forth between them in order to avoid fights in captivity. The Bearded Dragon, an Australian treasure for sure.

Okay? I have Chad here again. He's going to throw the double jab at me, which is a basic combination with the hands. And again, instead of throwing the, or parrying, alright, I want to slip the jab either outside or I can slip the jab inside. Okay? When I slip, again, I want to make sure I'm in a good base. I don't want to move my feet as I'm moving my head. So Chad throws a jab, I'll slip to the outside but I want to make sure I slip in on a 45. I don't want to slip out because it'll leave me off balance. So I want to slip in so that I'm in range to maybe counter, you know, for a boxing technique or maybe I can follow up with some knees, whatever that might be. If I slip to the inside, same concept. I want to make sure my head is in on a 45. I don't want to slip my head away because it will leave me off balance. Okay? So he'll throw the jab again, I'll slip to the inside. Okay? Make sure you keep the hands up as you slip. Don't get fancy and leave your hands down. He throws a jab, I'm going to keep the hands up so maybe I can counter. Okay? So now I'll throw the double jab, or I'll throw the jabs at Chad. He'll demo an MMA transition for slipping. He'll slip to the outside and he'll shoot in for that double leg. Okay? Maybe he'll slip to the inside and he'll come in for that clinch. Okay? So basic head movement or slipping for basic punches. Alright, so a basic counter, a Muay Thai counter, off of slipping with a jab, what I can do is use that left leg either to the head or to the body. So I'm going to slip my head out, get that left leg going to the body, obviously the head if he drops that right hand. Okay? So again, as I slip, I switch my feet and then I fire that left leg. Okay? If I throw the jab at Chad he'll come in for that double leg take down and he'll lift, okay? So there's two transitions, Muay Thai or MMA, for your jab.

The most important thing is how to finish your flair routine. You're doing all sorts of stuff, bottles are going all over the place, everyone's sitting there like this watching everything you're doing all in awe, how do you finish, how to you pour the bottle? The last thing you want to do is do all this crazy stuff, and then just take the bottle and go like that, it's anticlimactic, it doesn't work. So what we want to do is we want to learn how to do is Flip to Pour. What you're going to do is you're going to hold your bottle in what's called a bartender grip. Instead of holding it like this, we're going to hold it by the neck just like a bartender would take it out of the bottle or out of their well. What we're going to do is we're going to take our bottle, we're going to take our tin, the mouth is going to face up because that's what we're going to pour it into. We're going to take our bottle and you're going to snap it outward, away from your body, and what you're going to do is as soon as you let go of your bottle you're going to simply open your hand and the bottle is going to fall right back into it. It looks like this, it's really easy actually. It's a one-rotation, you're just going to snap, open, and let the bottle fall into your hand It's already in a pouring position. With your other hand you're going to have your tin set here ready to go. You're going to flip, catch, and you're already pouring the bottle. Then as you get more and more comfortable, you go to glass with liquid in it. Because we're flipping the bottle centrifugal force is involved so we want to make sure that the bottle has less than two ounces, or two ounces or less. Any more than that and this move can't be done, we'd have to figure out a different way to pour. Maybe we could take the bottle and throw it around our head, but in this case what we're going to do is, we're going to take our bottle, our tin, we're going to set it, we're going to flip, and we're going to pour. When you're done you bring your bottle down to cut the pour and then were going to just put our tin on the bar. If we're doing shots maybe we'll pour it straight from a tin into our glass. So again, just to reiterate the concept, we're going to take our bottle, we're going to put our tin here, we're going to flip our bottle, catch our bottle, and pour. When we're ready to stop we're going to simply bring our bottle down, we're going to pour it into our glass or whatever we're pouring it into, and that is how you do a Bottle Flip to a Pour.

Watch more Disaster Survival & Worst-Case Scenarios videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/217693-How-to-Survive-a-School-or-Office-Shooting Nobody thinks it’s going to happen to them – until it does. Be prepared to survive a shooting rampage, just in case. Step 1: Run Run first; ask questions later. Don’t miss your opportunity to escape by wasting time debating whether that noise was really a gunshot. Tip If you’re running from a shooter, run in a zigzag pattern. He’ll have a harder time hitting you, and the odds are even lower he’ll hit a major organ or artery. Step 2: Barricade the door If you’re trapped in a building with a shooter, lock yourself in a room and barricade the door with heavy furniture. The predator is likely to move on to more accessible victims. Step 3: Find a weapon Find some sort of weapon – a pair of scissors, a letter opener, hot coffee, a stapler, a fire extinguisher. Even if you don’t injure the attacker, you may be able to distract him or throw him off balance. Step 4: Take cover Take cover behind something sturdy, like a file cabinet or a metal desk. Tip Don’t make eye contact with or speak to the shooter. But if he talks to you, respond with an absurd question in the hopes of throwing him off guard. Step 5: Listen for reloading Listen for the 'click' that indicates his revolver is out of bullets, or the metallic clang that means the empty cartridge of his automatic pistol has fallen to the floor. He’ll have to pause to reload, giving you and others a chance to tackle him or escape. Step 6: Slow bleeding If you do get shot, slow the bleeding by keeping direct pressure on the wound. Tip If you think you might pass out from blood loss, place a hard object under your body, just above the wound, and lay on top of it. That way, if you do lose consciousness, your body weight will keep pressure on the wound. Step 7: Fight back If you find yourself unable to avoid a life-or-death struggle with the shooter, go for his most vulnerable areas: gouge his eyes with your index and middle fingers; jab his Adam’s apple; or knee him in the groin. Step 8: Report odd behavior Help prevent shooting rampages in the first place by reporting any odd behavior or threats to someone in authority. Did You Know? Homicide is the second leading cause of death on the job, after motor vehicle accidents.

So we're going to start off teaching you the bass beat and then Oscar will always do the bass beat. And I will you another step, which is just one step routine that you will do one at a time and then together. Alright? So, we start off with our bass beat. What we're going to do is do a single stomp with our right leg, and then you go onto your left and do a hand clap. Okay? So you're going to go boom, boom clap. Five, six, seven, and right, left right. Five, six, seven, and right, left, right. Then you're going to go right, left clap, boom, bop. Right, left clap, right stomp, right thigh. So it goes five, six, seven, and. So now you're going to add your left stomp and another hand clap right after that. So it's going to go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. After we do this phrase right here, five, six, seven, and [dances], you're going to do another single stomp right here, another left single stomp, and a clap. Do another hand clap. Okay? So let's combine that right there. So you're going to go boom, boom clap, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom, bop. Cool? So now, right now, you've got to understand that we just, our last stomp was on our left leg but we're going to do another stomp on the left leg to now clap over the right and then under the right. Okay? So it's going to go, let's take it from here. Boom, boom bop, boom, clap, clap. Okay? So let's combine that all together. So it should sound something like this. So it should go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom bop, boom, bop, bop. Okay? And then we're going to do this one more time. So now we loop it, yeah? So this right leg is up and you're just going to use that next stomp to start it all over again. And it's just going to go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom bop, boom, bop, bop, and finish, boom. So now, that is our bass beat. And it sounds pretty much like this. Five, six, five, six, five, six, seven, and [dances]. And that's your bass beat. So now we're going to add the actual step that we need to learn to combine with this bass beat. You ready? Here we go. We stomp with our left leg, and clap over our right and then under our right. We want to stomp with our right leg and clap over our left and then under our left. And the beat goes boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop. One more time. Five, six, seven, and a [dances]. Okay? So right now you're going to stomp this leg right here, boom, and then clap with your hand. Okay? Then you're going to go, to combine it together it's going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, clap. Okay? And then you're going to take a stomp with your right leg, boom, and hit both your thighs with your hands, bop. So it's going to go five, six, seven, and boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, bop. Boom, bop. To finish that off you're going to stomp with your left leg and clap twice with your hands. Boom, bop, bop. Cool? So let's add that on. So it's going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Bop. Okay? So now to finish this you're going to do it one more time again but the ending is going to be a little bit difference. So after you said boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Bop. You're going to do it one more time. Boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. And now this ending is where the difference comes. You're going to do two doubles and end off with a single. Ba-boom, ba-boom, boom. Once again, after you hit your thighs right here you're going to go right left, right left, right. Okay? So let's combine it, just that second part. So you're going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Ba-boom, ba-boom, boom. Okay? So now when you put it all together for just the step alone it sounds like this. So now we're going to take that step and mix it with the bass beat to create a whole new beat. Are you ready? I'm going to do it slow, in tempo, and then we're done. Here we go. Five, six, five, six, five, six, seven and. And that's how you do it.

Step 1: Choose the right environment Choose an environment for studying where you will be free from distractions including phone calls, television, or other interruptions. Step 2: Prioritize your studies Prioritize your study materials so that the most important or the hardest is finished first. Step 3: Read for comprehension Read your materials over once for basic comprehension. Don't stress about remembering it all on the first read. Step 4: Read and take notes Read the material again, taking notes and summarizing the main ideas in your own words. Tip Make new material stick by relating it to something you already know or care about. Context and emotion enhance our ability to remember. Step 5: Use you senses Use your senses to assist with learning. When possible, don't just read, but listen to lectures or podcasts, and watch instructional videos. Build a rich understanding of the material. Step 6: Quiz yourself Quiz yourself without the aid of any notes. Write down your answers or speak them aloud. In other words, rehearse for the test. Tip Take a nap after a heavy study session to allow your brain time to rest. Napping after studying can help with recall. Step 7: Test yourself again Test yourself again and again, at different times of the day and week. This "self-testing" will reinforce your studies so that when the real test arrives, you'll be ready. Did You Know? In ancient Greece and Rome, people used the "loci" memorization method, which involves visualizing placing each thing you need to remember in a familiar room or on a familiar road, and picking it up as you take a mental walk around the room or down the road.

Watch more How to Take Care of a Pet Bird videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/217448-How-to-Train-Your-Bird-to-Talk Birds aren't like babies—you can't expect them to pick up speech just by babbling away at them. You need a plan. Step 1: Pick the right breed If you haven’t already bought Tweety, pick a breed that is known for its chattiness. Amazon parrots and African greys are the gabbiest, followed by macaws, male cockatiels, mynahs, and parakeets. Tip Female cockatiels, female budgies, grass parakeets, rosellas, and canaries don’t talk. Step 2: Choose an inquisitive bird Once you’ve narrowed your choices to a talkative breed, focus your attention on choosing a bird that seems alert and interested in what’s going on around him. These are clues that he’ll make a good talker. Step 3: Get a young bird Get a young bird. Like the proverbial old dog who can’t learn new tricks, an older bird is going to have more trouble picking up speech. Step 4: Name that bird Give the bird a name that is no more than two syllables. A longer name reduces the chances that he will learn to say his own name. Step 5: Designate a teacher If you’re married and/or have children, pick one person to teach the bird. If several people are trying to instruct the bird, it will only confuse it. Tip Birds learn more easily from women. Step 6: Time your training Start training at the optimal time. For smaller birds, that’s at four to six months. For bigger birds, wait until they’re six to twelve months. Tip Don’t teach a bird to whistle before training him to talk, or it will make the speech lessons that much harder. Step 7: Keep it simple Start training by saying a few simple words to Tweety, always using them under the same circumstances. For example, you could say 'Good morning' every day when you first rise, and you could reserve 'Bye' for when the bird can see you walk out the door. Step 8: Repeat words Repeat the words several times in each instance. You want the bird to start associating the sound you are making with the context. Step 9: Reward speech Give Tweety a treat every time he repeats something you are teaching him. Tip Remember that birds don’t just repeat what you want them to; they mimic sounds they hear. So if you’re suffering a bout of loud flatulence, or getting ready to rip someone a new one, stay out of Tweety’s earshot. Step 10: Unteach them If Tweety has picked up a bad word, washing his mouth out with soap won’t work. But ignoring him when he repeats the word will, because getting your attention is his main incentive. Step 11: Enjoy Now enjoy chatting with your fine-feathered friend! Did You Know? Talking birds often will imitate your phone’s ring tone because they get a kick out of watching you come running.

So we're going to spread the rice on the sea weed, cover each corner, each edge with rice then we flip over so that the rice goes outside. Now I'm going to flip over. Crab cake, avocado, cucumber. Now pick up your bamboo with your thumb. Hold the other ingredients with your other forefingers and coming in. Make it tighter. Pick up, roll and shape. And then this is the masago. You can dress up masago on the outside. Masago is seasoned smelt roe. Again. So that's your California roll. So now I'm going to show you how to slice. Cut in half first, coming in, cut in half again, cut the half again, cut half again.'' That's how you make California roll.

This is the group of techniques that deals with how to take a knife away from a partner. So a tanto, being the smallest weapon that we use, also creates a fair amount of danger because your partner's going to be very close with that weapon. So a lot of the techniques involved in tanto dori tend to be a little more aggressive in order to completely diffuse the situation. So if we start with a tanto. Again, the very basic initial starting point for a lot of these attacks is going to be ski. So again we're looking at a punch or a stab directly to the stomach. Alright. And again, as in any Aikido technique, the most important thing for me is to get offline and away from the initial attack. We've seen korogashi before, or wrist-twist without the weapon, and this can be directly applied to tanto tori. The way that this would differ a little bit from open-hand techniques is because my partner has a knife. As the strike comes in I can use that weapon both to influence his movement, and I also need to be aware that I want to keep the weapon away from my partner. I'm not going to sit down to create the pin in this situation. I want to stay standing and remain with the weapon. Another variation we see a lot, ijiki mai, or another one of the elbow techniques and this is specifically designed to make sure that your partner's weapon hand is immobilized. So this is a point where you want to apply subtle and constant pressure. Try not to break the arm but you want to apply the pressure until your partner needs to drop the weapon and then you can get rid of your partner. Again, from the other side. Again, control the weapon, open the space up directly underneath against the elbow, take your wrist, and squeeze. Alright. You also see a fair amount of chokes, and immobilizations from this point. Lift. Before we went under the elbow, this time we're going to continue all the way around, and wrap the neck up. In order to remove the knife we're going to step back and drop on the closest knee, and apply pressure to the elbow against my knee that's up until your partner drops the knife. Alright. One other komichi mai technique that you'll see quite often. To the side, all the way around, and take the Gi from the other side, and separate. Again, down the closest knee, pressure on the elbow. So one more time. So tanto tori. These are just some of the most common techniques you'll see against a knife and how to remove it from your partner, or several others, which generally pertain to open-hand techniques. But these are some basic beginning points on tanto tori.

Watch more Hurricanes & Storms videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/471526-How-to-Survive-a-Hurricane Don't wait until a storm is heading your way! Survive a hurricane with these safety precautions. Step 1: Plan ahead Plan ahead. Know the location of local shelters and how you'll evacuate if you don't have a car. If you have family members with special medical needs, ask local officials if there's a registry so they get help in the event of power outages. Pick a place for family members to meet in case you become separated, and designate an out-of-town friend as the person everyone calls to report that they're safe. Get flood insurance if you don't already have it. Tip Make sure you know how to shut off electricity, gas, and water in case you're instructed to do so. Step 2: Be prepared Have the following supplies on hand at the start of hurricane season: a 3-day supply of water that provides 1 gallon per person per day; a 3-day supply of non-perishable food that doesn't require cooking; a flashlight and extra batteries; a battery-powered radio that can receive broadcasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; a first-aid kit; and a 7-day supply of medications. Tip The Atlantic and Central Pacific hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30; the Eastern Pacific is from May 15 through November. Step 3: Get ready If a hurricane warning is issued -- meaning one is expected in the next 36 hours -- bring in anything that can be tossed around by the wind; close and board up all windows and doors with 5/8" marine plywood, unless you have hurricane shutters; clear rain gutters and downspouts; trim trees and shrubs; put your refrigerator and freezer on the coldest setting; and fill your car's gas tank in case you're ordered to evacuate. Step 4: Go to a safe place If you live on the first or 2nd floor of a high rise, make plans to take refuge with neighbors between floors 3 and 10 when the storm begins. Residents who live above the 10th floor should evacuate, as should mobile home dwellers and anyone living on a floodplain, near a river, or on an inland waterway. Step 5: Do last-minute preparations Shortly before the storm is expected to start, fill your bathtub with water so you have an extra supply on hand. Unplug small appliances and sensitive electronics, and turn off propane tanks. Step 6: Ride out the storm When the storm starts, stay away from windows and glass doors and avoid using the phone. Go to your home's lowest level and stay in an interior room, closet, or hallway. Have a mattress or pillow to protect your head. Monitor weather conditions on your radio and don't leave your safe place until local officials say it's okay to do so. Step 7: Avoid post-storm dangers If you lose electricity, keep circuit breakers turned off until power is restored, then check for frayed wires. If you see any, call the power company. Leave the house immediately if you smell gas. If you're returning home, don't enter your house if floodwaters remain around the building; you see loose power lines or structural damage; or you smell a gas leak. If you have any safety concerns at all, stay elsewhere until your home is checked by a building inspector or structural engineer. Did You Know? 2/3 of the hurricanes that hit land in the United States between 1981 and 2011 struck the Gulf Coast. The other third hit the Atlantic Coast.

Watch more Introduction to Sushi Making videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/257-How-to-Make-an-Inside-Out-California-Roll True to its name, this rolled sushi was invented in California by an enterprising Japanese sushi chef in the early 1970s. Step 1: Encase mat in plastic Cut a large piece of plastic wrap a little more than twice the size of your bamboo mat and place it on the table. Place the bamboo mat on top and encase it in the plastic by smoothing the wrap evenly over both sides. Set the mat aside. Step 2: Prepare cucumber Peel the cucumber and scoop out the seeds with a small spoon. Cut the cucumber half into thin strips about 1/8 - to 1/4-inch wide and set them aside. Step 3: Prepare avocado Cut the avocado in half lengthwise and twist the two halves until they separate. Cut the half without the pit into two quarters. Remove their skin and cut them lengthwise into quarter-inch slices. Set the slices aside and clean your hands and knife with the damp kitchen cloth. Tip To prevent the avocado from oxidizing, or turning brown, squeeze some fresh lemon juice on the cut avocados. Step 4: Put rice on nori Lay a half sheet of nori shiny side down. Moisten your hands with a little water and grab a handful, or about a cup, of prepared sushi rice. Ball it up and put it on top of the nori. Step 5: Spread rice Spread and pat the rice across the nori, leaving a 1/2-inch margin uncovered at the bottom edge. Tip Don't use too much rice. It should be no more than 1/4-inch thick and you should be able to see the nori sheet through it. Step 6: Sprinkle sesame seeds Sprinkle sesame seeds over the rice. Step 7: Flip nori onto mat Lay the plastic-wrapped bamboo in front of you. Flip the prepared nori sheet rice-side down at the bottom end of the mat. Step 8: Lay filling in nori Lay a strip of shredded crab across the middle of the nori, add a strip or two of cucumber next to it, and lay avocado slices on top. Step 9: Roll with mat Use the bamboo mat to roll the bottom edge of the nori over the filling in the center, tucking it over firmly so the filling is enclosed. Step 10: Continue to roll Pull the mat back and lay it over the roll again. This time continue to roll forward, applying even pressure and tightening as you roll, using your mat as leverage. Step 11: Smooth out roll Once it's taken shape, take the roll off the mat and lay the mat over it. Press and smooth the roll, compressing it tightly and evening out the ends. Step 12: Cut roll With a very sharp knife use a delicate but firm sawing motion to cut the roll in half. Cut each half into three equal pieces. Step 13: Repeat process Repeat the process with your remaining half of nori, lightly layering it with rice, adding the filling, and rolling and cutting the sushi. Eat at your leisure—after all, this is California-style. Did You Know? Fallbrook, California, the self proclaimed 'avocado capital of the world,' has been hosting an annual Avocado Festival since 1962.

This technique is called sankyo. Or number three in the series of techniques that O'Sensei established. And again, this whole series, one through five, is going to start with ikkyo. So if we look at shomenuchi, ikkyo, you meet and down. Again, I want to lift the hand so that I'm looking at the palm of my partner's hand. Reach underneath. I'm going to wrap my fingers right around the inside of the palm. And the fingers are another aspect that I have. I'm going to step back. And think about pointing all of this directly at your partner as they turn and cut. Again, this is very similar to the sword work that we do in aikido. Again, I don't want to point the fingers down and cut with the butt of the sword. I want to try to cut out with the tip and the elbow of the sword. And I'm going to continue to move around the front, irimi tenkan and down. The pin incorporated here, sankyo pin. Alright. So again, you start with ikkyo. Ikkyo, lift, take the hand and step back, cut, irimi tenkan, straight down on the shoulder and pin. So if we look at the ura variation. Again, I move to the back side first, lift, continue to move behind and down, spiraling movement towards ugay's back. Up for the pin, pull through. Ura, lift, hand position, tenkan, and back. Up for the pin, pull through. Couple other variations that we'll often see, straight down, straight up. Can also use sankyo to create openings for other techniques. Sankyo, number three.

I'm Charles from Louis Purple, and I'm going to teach you how to do the Christensen knot, a.k.a. the cross knot. This knot was made popular by Amanda Christensen who used to be a tie maker and who really made this knot popular. So it's still pretty rare, and I would say fairly difficult to tie, but I'm sure with a little bit of practice you will get a hold of it. So this is how you proceed. You want to have the wide end on the right hand side, the narrow end on the left hand side, like usual, except this time you want to have the wide end a little bit, much longer than the narrow end, probably about 20 inches depending on the width and the length of your tie. This is how you proceed. The wide end goes over the narrow end. It goes underneath. You pull it up and slide it inside between the neck and the knot. And you pull it on the left hand side. So this is what you should have. And now the tricky part. Just put your fingers so that you still keep enough room to slide it in after you went twice over and underneath. And then it's a regular way to finish the knot. Once you went twice over the narrow end with your fingers, you don't want to pull it too tight. Otherwise it's going to be hard to slide it in. But this is the result you want to obtain. You adjust the knot. You have this cross shape. That's the particularity about the Christensen knot. I think it's a really elegant look with any tie, even though it works great with skinny ties. So this is how you tie the cross knot, or also called the Christensen knot.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares seven tips about caring for a green iguana. Throughout the decades that reptiles have been popular pets, I think the number one seller probably has been the green iguana. Green iguanas hold the stigma from those old Japanese B movies, where they put an iguana across a model of Tokyo and pretended that he was Godzilla. Iguanas have fascinated Americans and have become the number one pet, for sure, over the last 20, 30 years. Personally, I don't think they make the best pets. And the reason why is because there is a lot of husbandry needed; these are tropical animals, they require the proper humidity and heat. They need ultraviolet lights, they need a specialized diet. But, really, it's because they sometimes have an attitude. When they get about 6 feet long, a male iguana suddenly isn't as calm as my little friend here. A male iguana will potentially turn on its owner, and establish its territory in the home. If it's in a fish tank, he's absolutely going to be upset. They really have to be outside in an 8 by 8 foot, 8 foot high room, sitting on a limb, looking down on their owner. And then they're perfectly fine pets. But if you want to keep them in a fish tank and approach them from the top, they sometimes get skittish. When they are skittish, the number one thing they do is whip their tail in your direction. The second thing they'll do is try to bite. And the third thing is rake you with their claws. Either one of those things is an event you don't want to experience, because a 6-foot iguana, this guy is about 2, maybe, a 6-foot iguana is a formidable creature that can inflict harm. We also have seen that male iguanas when they get old, when they become sexually mature, turn on their owners because they're territorial and want to establish their own area. And that is usually the time they end up coming back to the pet store, or back where they came from. If no one will take them back, people will let them go. And in northern climates, that's a death sentence for the animal. In southern climates, like Florida, they have procreated, and they have now established, and they are now truly an invasive species. So, I always say, if you want an iguana, please go get one. My choice for an iguana would be the rock iguanas. The rock iguanas are a big bodied creature that comes form the Caribbean Islands. And here I've got a good friend of mine, and the green iguana is scared of him, I would imagine so. This is Castro; he's a Cuban rock iguana. And you see Castro, who is now 15 years old, has a much different temperament than our green iguana friend. A 15 year old iguana would not be as tolerant to be touched in this nature. Castro is not trying to whip me with his tail, Castro is not trying to run away. He is a really sure of himself type of lizard who makes a wonderful pet or companion. We choose not to keep an animal this big in a cage, unless you build something custom for him. They freely can roam a home, and know where to do their business. They're straight herbivores; they love their veggies and fruits, and they really are an incredible companion and pet. We take him to the park and walk him like a dog all the time. So, if you're going to go for an iguana, think twice about the green types. There are some dessert species that are great, but the rock iguanas truly rock. Here's the Cuban iguana, Castro.

Watch more Driving & Car Safety videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/117114-How-to-Escape-a-Car-Sinking-in-Deep-Water It can happen in an instant: Your car ends up in the water, and it’s sinking fast. Here’s how to get out. Step 1: Calm down Stem panic by reminding yourself that your car will usually float for a minute or two before it begins to sink. Use this time to unfasten your seat belt, open the driver-side window or a sunroof, and unlock the doors. Tip As long as you keep your keys in the ignition, the electrical system likely will work until the car is submerged enough for the system to short out. Step 2: Break the window If you were unable to open your side window, break it with your elbow, heels, or -- better still -- anything pointy you have on hand, like a pen or screwdriver. Aim for the center of the window. Don’t bother with the windshield; it's made to be unbreakable. Tip Hardware stores sell tools specifically designed to break car windows in an emergency. Step 3: Undress If the car is sinking slowly, take off your shoes. If you’re wearing jeans and you have time, remove those as well. Both weigh you down, making swimming to the surface more difficult. Step 4: Get out Climb out the window before the car becomes submerged, and swim to the surface. Tip Memorize the acronym POGO: Pop seat belt, Open the window, and Get Out. Step 5: Wait until car fills If you were unable to get out through the window, don’t panic! Let the car fill with water, knowing that once it does, the water pressure inside and out will be equalized, allowing you to open the door and escape. Tip Hang on to the door handle as the car fills with water so you don’t float and become disoriented if the car flips. Step 6: Open the door When the water reaches your chin, take a deep breath and hold it. Then open the door and swim out headfirst. If you’re not sure which way is up, look for bubbles and swim in the direction in which they’re rising. Did You Know? Now, when it comes to potty training your parrot, the thing you need to realize is that birds are wild animals. They're going to poop every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the species. So, the first thing you got to do is get out of your mind that you're going to have a perfect potty train that'll never poop on anything. Because no matter how good of a job you do, accidents will still happen. So, stock up on good cleaning supplies: a wetvac, a mop, anything you can use to clean your parrots nest is good. The less of a big deal you make about the parrot making a mess, the less you're going to encourage any of that type of behavior. Another strategy is to keep the parrot on parrot-approved places, like this tree right here. The bottom is made to be easy to clean. So, if the parrots spent a lot of their time on parrot places instead of on human furniture, you're less likely to have a mess throughout your house. Part of the strategy for keeping your parent on parrot-approved places is to do a lot of training, like the tricks we've been going over. If you teach your parrots tricks on their training arches and trees, they're more familiar with spending time on those places and their more likely to go over to them when they're out and about. Now, when it comes to actually the potty training process, you can't really do it the same way that you teach normal tricks such as clicking and giving a treat. That's known to make parrots hold it in for too long and that can actually hurt their digestive system. So, instead, it's important to encourage the parrot to poop on it's designated places but not mandate it. So, the strategy is to realize how long between poops that your bird goes. If you realize that you have a small bird and it goes every five minutes, that's going to be the number you go for. The bigger bird might be half an hour. But these guys, maybe about 15 minutes. So, what Im going to do, when I want to just spend time with my bird, I want to have him on my shoulder, on me, I will hold them and make sure that I'm not spending more than the allotted time between when they go to do their business. So, I might pick up the bird and hold it for ten minutes. Knowing that they're going to poop in 15. Play with them, do whatever I want to do with my pet. Then, I'm going to go and put them back down on their stand after ten minutes elapses. Now, I'm going to wait five minutes until they finally take their poop, whatever that comes out to. And as soon as they do, I'm going to make a big deal. Be like "Wow, that was very good! That's great!" And I'll come back over and pick up the bird and spend more time with it again. And then ten minutes goes by. I feel like a next poop is due. Before it can happen, I'll put her back down on the perch and wait until she does it. After you do this for a couple weeks or months, your parrot will catch on that the sooner they do their business when they're put down, the sooner you'll pick them up and keep spending time with them. So, they learn to naturally do more of they're business around their perches instead of on you or on unapproved human furniture areas. If your parrot wings aren't clip and they're flighted, they can even learn to fly back to they're stand when they need to go, which is really convenient if you lose track of timing. If they're familiar and accustomed to pooping on their stand, they'll fly over when they need to go. The last thing you can do to encourage your parrot do it's business on it's poopy perch is when you take it out first thing in the morning, put it down on it's perch and wait until it's goes. Most parrots hold it in at night and they have to go really bad in the morning and they try to avoid going in their cages. So, as soon as you take them out, put them right down on their poopy perch and let them go. And after they're done, you can pick them up and do your normal routine with them. This way, they learn to go to that designated place and to hold it in until you put them down and it's time to do it. So, that's some tips for you about potty training your parrot.

Watch more How to Give First Aid videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/504441-How-to-Give-the-Heimlich-Maneuver-First-Aid-Training What do you do when someone's choking? You and a friend are out in a restaurant and all of a sudden, they start choking. I'm going to have my friend Hannah come over here. We're out, we're having a good time, we're eating and all of the sudden, she seems like she's choking. First, you ask, "Are you OK"? Oftentimes, the international sign for choking is this. I can't breathe. Something's going on. If you're around other people, you want to get them to help you. If you're in a restaurant or place of business, have someone call out for help and have the people help you out. Tell them what you're doing. Don't just attack them because that will just heighten their anxiety and their panic. What you're going to do is, you're going to stand behind them and you're going to wrap your arms all away around. You find their belly button with your pinky. Make a fist. Put the pinky on the bellybutton, then roll it up so the knuckle of your thumb is right there and then you thrust. You pull it in and up, but I'm not going to do it as hard. In and up. In and up until they can dislodge whatever is in there and they can breathe again. Don't go crazy like in the movies and start slapping their back and wrestling. Sometimes people get carried away and they want to slap your back. They just end up hurting you. If the person is pregnant or a larger person and you can't get your arms all away around to where their belly button is, you want to go higher, up to where their breastbone is. So, say Hannah is pregnant - Congratulations! You wrap around. You find their breastbone. You do the same thing. In and up. In and up until they dislodge whatever is in their throat and they can breathe again. If the person is so big, if you're a small person, and you have a big strapping person with you who's choking and you just can't even do that. You can assist them in doing a self Heimlich maneuver on a chair or surface that will get to their diaphragm. You just lean them over. Talk them through it. Stay calm. The more panicky you get, the more panicky they're going to get. They're already in a state of anxiety because they can't breathe, which is normal. If they lose consciousness and they fall to the floor, you're going to lay them down. You're going to roll them over and then you're going to do the same thing. You're going to find the bellybutton, roll up, and you're going to thrust while they're on the floor until that comes out or until help arrives. Continue trying to do the thrusts and trying to get them to get that out of their throat so they can breathe again. Stay with them until help arrives.

A few, this one is called a Jersey Wally, this one is a Rex the grey one, this one is a Flemish Giant, this one is a New Zealand White and we have here a little buddy called a Lion Head and next to him is a Netherlands Dwarf. We actually DE-emphasize breeds when people are adopting bunnies we always tell them no matter how beautiful the rabbit, no matter how much you love the breed, the thing to pay attention to really is the personality. And I told Amy once that is kind of like when you are dating a guy that is just really gorgeous and you find out that the personality isn't there, you don't care about the looks after a while it is very, very interesting. I had somebody come into my apartment one time to adopt only a Lap rabbit. The Lap rabbits are the ones that have the down ears. We don't have a Lap rabbit here but they have the ears that go down like a Cocker Spaniels and this lady came in and she said she only wanted consider a Lap and I had a couple of Laps and she loved one of them and started righting the adoption papers to take him home. But every time she went by this other rabbits cage the rabbit would stick his head out and look at her and try to make eye contact with her and after a couple of minutes she said you know Mary I think this rabbits trying to tell me something . So I said I think he is too , why don't you put down the Lap ear rabbit and go over and talk to that rabbit. And long story short she did and ended up adopting that second rabbit and the rabbit was definitely reaching out to her. It wasn't a breed she was interested in but the personality was so out going and so affectionate and she just loved him to pieces. So, we always tell people look at the different breeds for sure, we get all breeds into shelters all the time but go by the personality. It is much more Speaker 2: But normally you wouldn't put a bunch of rabbits together like this because they always don't get along, right? Speaker 1: Thanks for saying that, this is a challenge to have all these rabbits together on the same table . Here's how to keep from getting lost in brain space. Step 1: Eradicate distractions Enter a fortress of solitude -- research shows that low-level distractions can make a task feel boring. Hide your cellphone, tell your online social network to de-friend you instantly if they see you log in, and seal yourself in a quiet room. Tip If you're planning a really long cramming session, break it up with a nap. One study found an hour's worth of shut-eye can increase your ability to focus. Step 2: Embrace your emotions Emotional entanglement distracting you? Admit how you're feeling, even out loud -- those who can identify how they feel often have better focus. Step 3: Engage yourself Don't just take notes; engage with the material creatively. Invent a song about the topic at hand, or recreate historical events and fictional plotlines. It's easier to stay interested when you make the material come alive. Step 4: Take a shower Studied so long you've stopped absorbing material? Take a shower -- the change of pace will stimulate your mind and help refresh your body. Step 5: Make up a challenge Make a game out of your work to stave off boredom. Swoop: Ah, shootin' the ball, right? A: Yeah. How to get bucket! Swoop: Right, you know bro, you know what, I have a different couple ways to shoot the ball, man. A: Uh-huh. Swoop: My first way, of course, is the granny shot here, that's the best way to become a good shooter. Or you have the two-hand, one-foot fling. I'm all for... A: Real good (?) move right there. Swoop: You like that one right there? I'm workin' on my moves (?) about practice, man. A: But listen, we're gonna show people the proper way how to shoot the ball. Swoop: That's not the right way. A: That's not the right way. Swoop: The two-foot fling is not gonna do it. A: No. Swoop: No, OK. A: You see your leg right there? Swoop: Oh, but I was, yeah, that's how you gotta balance. A: Alright, you look like you're a dancer. Swoop: Oh, that's dancin' stuff, man. A: Yeah, you look like a ballerina. Swoop: You think so? A: So we're gonna let DP the correct way to shoot the basketball with good form... Swoop: OK. A: ...good balance... Swoop: Alright. A: ...and good follow through. Beef! Swoop: Beef! Both: Balance, eyes, elbow, follow through. A: There you go. Swoop: I do that, see? A: Now, we're over here with the expert, DP. He's gonna show us the basic fundamentals on how to become a better shooter. First you wanna get the ball, you wanna get good hand placement. You wanna form a 'T' with your hands right here, with your two thumbs and this is your guide hand, and this is your shooting hand. So, you wanna have your hands here. You got good leg placement. Good knee bend right here. His right foot is slightly in front of his left for balance. Swoop: OK. A: Eyes should be on the front of the rim, get that ball right over the front of the rim. Keep your elbow in, your right elbow here, in this case, 'cause he's right-handed. And you want to get good follow through on the shot. So he's gonna show us a couple repetitions on great technique. Repetition and muscle memory. Here we go. There's DP. Follow through. Bam. Follow through every time. Swoop: Not bad, not bad. A: There you go. There he is. Notice the follow through, notice the balance. Every time. Shot's the same every time. And then he just gets shots up there. Every shot, you want it to look the same. You want every shot to look the same. Follow through. Good muscle memory. Follow through. Good muscle memory. Move it back. Swoop: Oh, move back a little bit. A: When he moves back the shot still looks the same. It's a natural flow, natural shot. Every one goes in when you use the proper technique. Little toilet bowl action. Face. There you go. Nice. Follow through, all net. Swoop: All net. A: This is an expert, Swoop! Swoop: This expert! A: This is an expert! Swoop: Yeah, but what you say... A: [SS] Swoop: ...this is not gonna work for me. A: No, that's not gonna be what we're looking for. Swoop: That's not gonna work. But I'm working on it. A: No, no, no, that's not what we're looking for. We're looking for an expert to show us, and then... Swoop: There it is, OK. A: Alright, there you go. Swoop: OK, let's get that thing going, alright! A: Look at him [SS] go. Swoop: Oh, alright, OK. A: Look at him go, look at him go there, Swoop, see that? Swoop: There it is, there it is. A: It's all in the pass, too, Swoop. A good pass makes a good shot. Swoop: So shooting is all about preparation... A: Yes. Swoop: ...good form... A: Yes. Swoop: ...balance, muscle memory... A: Yeah. Swoop: ...repetition. A: That's a lot of things to remember. Swoop: Wow, that's a lot. A: But guess what? If you focus on your shooting technique first... Swoop: Right. A: ...then you'll be able to become a better shooter once you do it over and over again. Just to go over some of the key points. You want to have great balance, eyes on the front of the rim, keep your elbow in, and have a nice follow through on the shot. Bam!

Swoop: 'Cuz I could be a point ... Broadway: No, no, no. Swoop: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What, what? You got a point guard already? Broadway: Yeah, we got a point guard. Swoop: OK. Broadway: King Arthur's the point guard. Swoop: OK. Broadway: His job is to initiate the offense ... Swoop: Oh. Broadway: ... to make sure everybody's in their correct position when he calls the play. Swoop: OK. Broadway: So King Arthur's usually gonna use hand signals, or talk and say, "Hey, move over there.' Whatever the case may be. And make sure everybody's in the right place on the court. Swoop: OK. OK. Broadway: Now, he initiates the offense, and the defense. Swoop: Oh, OK. Broadway: So that's the point guard. His job is to know where everybody is on the court at all times. And he's gotta know everybody's positions. Swoop: OK. Broadway: So, then we'll move to my position. Swoop: Oh, no, you said, i could pick. I want the shooting guard. Broadway: No, no, no. Swoop: You said, I could shoot. Broadway: No, I'm the shooting guard. Swoop: Look at my, it's good. Broadway: No, no, no. Swoop: Look at the ... Broadway: I'm the shooting guard. Swoop: Oh, OK. All right. Broadway: So the shooting guard's job is just self-explanatory. Swoop: Right. Broadway: It's to shoot the ball. Swoop: Oh, OK. Broadway: A good shooting guard is somebody who can dribble ... Swoop: Right. Broadway: ... and attack the basket, as well as shoot. His primary goal is to put the ball in the basket, and get the team points. Swoop: All right. Sounds good. Broadway: Now, we're gonna move to what's called a three man, or wing man. Swoop: Three man. Oh, yeah, I could do that. I could do that. I'm a wing. I'm a good wing man. The wing man, or the three man, is usually the best athlete on the court. Swoop: Uh-huh. Broadway: So Mr. 540 is gonna do a little bit of everything. Swoop: Yeah. Broadway: On the offense if he can shoot the shot, it's good. Swoop: Yeah, yeah. Broadway: But mostly he wants to finish in transition. Swoop: Finish. Broadway: He wants to be able to slash to the basket. Swoop: OK. Broadway: Defensively and offensively, he wants to help out on the backboards and get rebounds. Swoop: OK. OK. I'm with Chess NYC, and I'm going to talk to you today about pawn structures. While there are multiple pawn structures that are very important to know, there are five basics that are "need-to-know". So, let's start off with the pawn chain. To begin, we have what's called a pawn chain: we have a diagonal set of pawns; each pawn in this pawn chain is protecting one another. This is extremely important in terms of creating an attack. You always want to have your pawn chain directed towards the king. If the king is castled over on this side of the board, this is where you want your pawn structure going, instead of having your pawn chain running off the side of the board. Not so happy. Additionally, the top pawn is the strongest pawn in the pawn chain, the bottom is the weakest. If you're playing on black, you want to attack the bottom of the pawn chain. The idea behind the pawn chain is that it controls a lot of space and it's going toward the king, creating an attack. Another important pawn structure that is a need-to-know is called "double pawns". Double pawns have both good and bad elements to them. One element that is very good about double pawns is they control a lot of space. Double pawns can control up to five squares - one, two, three, four, five. In chess, we want to control space. Double pawns can control a lot of space. However, there is a weakness to double pawns. This pawn right back here is not protected by any other pawns, therefore this pawn is considered weak. Additionally, this pawn is also considered "stuck in traffic," meaning it can't move unless the pawn in front of it moves first. Another important pawn structure that we need to know is called the "isolated pawn", or "lonely pawn". This is not a favorable pawn structure. This pawn is sitting all by itself. When we have a pawn that's like this sometimes we have to have a queen or another, bigger piece defending and babysitting this pawn. I don't want my queen babysitting an isolated pawn. I want my pieces going ahead and making checkmate, and not defending an isolated pawn. This pawn is considered a weakness, and it is easy for black to attack. An even more unfavorable pawn position is "double isolated pawns". Additionally, these two pawns are extremely weak. Neither one of them can protect one another. This pawn is also considered stuck in traffic. It cannot move forward unless the pawn in front of it moves forward, and these are relatively hard to defend. A bishop cannot defend both of these pawns at the same time. A knight can also not defend both of these pawns at the same time. It's also hard, unless a rook is in between them, to defend them at the same time. We have to use a queen or a king to defend the two pawns at the same time. However, the last pawn structure I want to talk about is called a "passed pawn". Passed pawn is one of the most important pawn structures that we need to know, because this pawn is on its way to becoming a queen. A passed pawn is a pawn that has passed all of your enemy's pawns and is on its way to becoming a queen - by getting to the end of the board - or any other piece that you choose. When you have passed pawn, it is very important to sit and babysit this pawn. So therefore you can get it to the end of the board and it can become a queen or any other piece that you choose. And that is all I have to tell you about important pawn structures.

Step 1: Cool off your skin Cool off your skin with a cool bath or cool, wet compresses. If you opt for the bath, add a half cup of baking soda or several cups of colloidal oatmeal (available at drugstores). Soak for 10 minutes. Repeat as often as needed. Step 2: Apply something soothing Apply something soothing, like aloe vera from a plant or lotion, or 1% hydrocortisone cream. Tip Do not use petroleum-based products or products with benzocaine; they’ll just lock in the heat. Step 3: Take an aspirin If you’re an adult, take an aspirin; its anti-inflammatory properties will help relieve the pain. Tip Never give aspirin to children under 16; give them acetaminophen or ibuprofen instead. Step 4: Let your skin heal Let your skin heal. If blisters form, leave them alone; if they break, use an antibiotic ointment. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about peeling—but a moisturizing lotion can ease any itching. Step 5: Buy a good sunscreen Buy a good sunscreen and a big sunhat so you don’t get burned again. And stay out of the sun until your burn has healed! Did You Know? It’s easier to get sunburned at high altitudes because you’re less protected by the atmosphere—for every 1,000 feet you go up, your exposure to UV rays increases 4%.

Step 1: Don’t eat Avoid eating as much as possible. You can survive longer without food than without water, and the digestive process uses water. Step 2: Try not to sweat Minimize perspiration by relegating physical activity to nighttime. And keep your clothing on -- it helps slow the evaporation of your sweat. Wrap a piece of fabric around your head if you don’t have a hat. Using your urine to dampen your clothes will further reduce sweating. Tip Don’t drink your urine; your body will use more water to remove the waste material than it will gain. Step 3: Dig for water If you spot any green plants or dry lake beds, dig there until the soil becomes moist, and wait for water to seep into the hole. It may provide enough water to survive in the desert until you get out or are rescued. Step 4: Forget about cactus Forget the myth about getting water from a cactus: You’ll probably lose more hydration from the ensuing vomiting than you'll gain from the few drops you manage to drink. Step 5: Follow bees Look for flies or mosquitoes, which means water is nearby. If you see a bee, follow it; bees fly in a straight line to and from water, so it will lead you right to a source. Did You Know? An Austrian teenager survived a record 18 days without food or water in 1979, when police forgot they'd put him in a holding cell.

Watch more How to Read Body Language videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501674-How-to-Spot-Sexual-Attraction-in-Eyes-Body-Language Out of all the different non-verbal behaviors, I think that spotting attraction is without a doubt the easiest. We are very emotional creatures and when we're attracted to somebody, it's very, very difficult to hide. People think they're hiding it, but things always slip. One of the ways they slip are essentially the eyes. There are a lot of different ways you can use the eyes to determine whether or not someone's attracted to you. The first thing is essentially eye contact. For the most part, usually we make eye contact with people that we're interested in or people that we're attracted to. Right? But this is not entirely true. Some people are shy or anxious and they're not going to make eye contact. So what you're looking for essentially is a deviation in eye contact. So one of the ways you can use eye contact and there's a little trick that's very, very reliable. So what you're going to do is if you look at somebody in a bar or restaurant or on the street and they break eye contact vertically, so they look down. So you make eye contact with them and they break eye contact vertically and then within 20-30 seconds they reestablish eye contact, approach them. They like you. It's a very, very reliable thing. Essentially what they're doing. You stare at them. They're submitting to you and then they take a little second glance to see who you are. It's very, very, very reliable. The opposite of that would be if you look at somebody and they look at you and they immediately go and break eye contact. Nope, not interested. But what is reliable is they break eye contact and they come back. Break eye contact and then come back. Break eye contact and then come back. It's very interesting. And don't let it wait. If you see that, go right away because the more and more you wait. The more and more eye contact becomes very, very awkward. One of the things that I do in one of my classes is I have people stare each other in the eyes for three minutes without saying anything. They just stare each other in the eyes like this. Try that. Go out and try to stare somebody in the eyes for even 90 seconds. I guarantee you can't do it. It's awkward. It's so awkward because humans are not really at a level intimacy. When you stare somebody in the eyes is so awkward when you're doing it with a stranger. Studies will show that if you stare somebody in the eyes for 90 seconds to three minutes, all of a sudden you're going to like that person a lot better than everybody else in the room because you kind of shared this emotional connection. So eye contact is important in that respect. The second thing you can look for essentially is blink rate. Now, this is really cool. So blink rate correlate with emotional excitement. When we are emotionally excited, our blink rates tend to increase. Right? Average blink rates tend to be below 20 blinks per minute. For most people it really depends on where you are, but it's really hard to nail down what the average blink rate is. But in my experience, it seems to be around 10 blinks per minute. Right? So you see, whenever you see a sudden spike or a bunch of sudden spikes in somebody's blink rate in can be an indication of attraction. In my dating studies you see blink rates through the roof because the person across the table from you has an emotional response. You're attracted to them. The third way of kind of using the eyes to determine attraction is dilation. It's very interesting. Our eyes dilate when we're attracted to something. Right? Go out and find a Maxim magazine or a Playboy magazine or any cover that's predominately men focusing. Every single woman will have her eyes dilated. You never, ever see them constricted. The reason why is because men perceive women with dilated eyes more attractive than women with more constricted eyes. To the point of back in the day prostitutes used to put a specific toxin in their eyes to make them dilate.

Watch more How to Drive videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500662-What-to-Expect-on-Your-Drivers-Test-Driving-Lessons So, the subject today is what to expect on your driver's test. And before we get into some of the actual test, what I want to tell you is to make sure you're on time and to make sure you have the proper documents that you need. You have to have your learner's permit, and your pre-licensing class certificate, and the driver that brings you there has to have their driver's license, the car registration, and the insurance card. If you don't have any of those documents you will not be given the test. So you don't want to waste your time by going there without that. Now, what do we expect to do actually on the test? And the test is comprised of a series of turns and two maneuvers. You're going to do some right turns, and you're going to do some left turns across traffic. And then you're going to have to execute what we call a broken U-turn. Which means bringing your car from the right side, across to the other side of the street, backing up, and then going back the other way. And then finally, you'll have to do a parallel parking, which means bringing the car alongside of another vehicle and backing it into the space. It isn't real difficult. The whole test takes about ten minutes. So hopefully what I've outlined here are some good, solid ways on knowing what to expect and how to execute it and hopefully it will get you through and help you to pass your driver's test.

Check out these simple steps to help you survive an encounter with the undead. Step 1: Know your enemy Make sure you're facing an attack from actual zombies. Look for a stiff gait caused by rigor mortis, open wounds from decomposing flesh, and a hunger for human flesh. Step 2: Cover up Cover up to prevent potential zombie bites from turning you into one of them. Wear a mask with holes only for the eyes and mouth, long sleeves, gloves, close-toe shoes, and long pants tucked into your socks. You may look like a fashion victim, but you won't be a zombie victim. Step 3: Amass weapons Find a weapon to use in case you encounter a zombie. Grab a blunt object capable of bashing in undead heads or something to pierce the zombies' skulls -- even reanimated corpses can't survive severe brain injuries. Tip Don't try to reason with zombies -- their brain functions are limited to walking, moaning, and feasting on the living. Step 4: Head indoors Find a secure place to hide. Make sure it's located as far as possible from any graveyards and stocked with canned goods, bottled water, and projectile-firing weapons. Barricade the doors and windows to ensure your survival. Step 5: Fight back Hide out long enough to overcome your fear; then, attack back! Use human-scented objects to lure the zombies to low-lying areas; once they're contained, blast their brains from afar. Continue trapping and killing until all the zombies are dead, and it's eerily quiet enough for you to hear your still-beating heart. Did You Know? A traditional zombie cocktail is made with sugar, fruit juice, and 4 kinds of rum.

Owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as difficult as you might think. However, Jungle Bob says a chameleon is one of the exceptions. In this video, he explains why. Chameleons are sought-after pets and I really have to interview people long and hard to make sure they know what they're getting into. Because of all the animals in the pet world, chameleons are certainly the hardest to stay alive. By nature, they're extremely skittish. You see this one doesn't want to be out in the limelight here he doesn't like the bright lights that are on him. He wants to be in a tree and he wants to hide. But that's not possible today, so he'll be okay for a few minutes. As a keeper, he needs a couple of things to keep him alive. First, they really don't do well in a glass enclosure. Chameleons like airflow so a screen is much better for them. A screened enclosure where the air can flow through is great. They can also grab on to the screen with their nails and climb all around, it which they can't do with glass. Worse than that, though, in order to keep them happy is they will need a water source to drink from and that is not a bowl. Chameleons like this do not drink from standing water. They drink drips. When it rains they drink as much water as they can. But the only other water they get is basically dew in the morning that will form on the leaves and will start to drip off of it. And we will often see them licking the leaves inside their enclosures to get their moisture. If we forgot to mist them and forget to put that moisture on, put a bowl of water and go away for three days, they will die of thirst. They do not know enough to go down to a standing body of water and take a drink. Some species yes, Veiled chameleons, no. So, you really have to be a diligent keeper and keep your animal watered as best as possible. There are a number of devices on the market to do that automatically. But there's nothing like an old plant Mister that you use with your hand to make sure your lizard is drinking every day. As they get to know you they will take it right out of the end of the bottle in order to get their much needed water source. Chameleons are really an advanced lizard keepers pet. You cannot be a beginner and keep a chameleon happy. They have very fragile legs and arms. They need to be totally camouflaged and have places to hide inside or they become very short-lived. Even in the best of conditions chameleons are not long-lived creatures. Some only a couple of years. Some, five, six, seven years is about as much as you're going to get as chameleon pet. So, a wonderful, "Wow, what is that?" type of animal, but extremely fragile and you have to think twice whether or not you want to buy a chameleon. Of all the chameleon species veiled chameleons are absolutely the most hearty. The males actually this beautiful crest on top of their hand. And they can actually be taught to eat out of your hand by holding the food item here. They'll shoot it out of your hand. He's a little bit too nervous to do it today, but he'll eat it right out of your hand and that's a wonderful thing to observe in captivity. So there's the veiled chameleon, one of the best chameleons on the market.

So right now, Sammy will get nice and low. He's gonna cross over and go behind his back. Every time the ball gets to his right hand, he's gonna count the rep. So I'll count for him right now. Jerry when you tell me to go, we'll go. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Alright. So Sammy did eight in 15 seconds. So now he has a goal where every time he works out he has a point of emphasis in the base as far as trying to exceed his time. Now I'll try to do something a little bit more advanced with the advanced ball handlers. And remember, everything that we do I'm gonna try to do with my eyes closed and head up. Jerry'll give me 30 seconds on this. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, I lose it, I come right back. Eyes closed, chin up. Six. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright? So I got to about six and a half. So right now we'll have Sammy finish up to see if he can do it any faster than he did his first set. So again Sammy will have his eyes closed, chin up. He'll get low. Eight is his number to beat. 15 seconds. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright. So you see? Now, Sammy worked on his ball handling. He was able to get ten. Those are the types of drills that you can do on a regular basis in order to be come a faster ball handler.

We're going to teach you a couple of them. The first one we're going to talk about is the bachata heel break. So we're going to put out our heels, on the fours and the eights. Five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. The idea behind the heel is to make sure that your heel is nice and sharp on that break, just as if you were doing a tap. Daniela: And ladies, make sure when you do your heel tap forward, you have your legs closed. We don't want to do one, two, three, heel, okay? It's right in front of you. Edwin: Now for the next break, this one is a tap in the back. We're going to use the toe to either tap across or behind. We're going to show you different ways, so make sure you that you explore however you feel more comfortable. Five, six, seven and one, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap. Five, six, seven, tap. That's going to be the tap behind. Remember you can put it right behind you or you can send it across, depending on how you feel. Make sure you do it with confidence and smooth. The next break is going to be the scoop. The scoop is going to be picking up your foot. Gentlemen, what we're going to do is just lift it up, like this. Daniela: And ladies, we're going to scoop up, so as soon as your toe hits the floor that's when you bring it up. Make sure you don't kick it out. Edwin: Let's try it. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three, up, five, six, seven, up. One, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up and one, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up. Now for those of you who are interested in getting better as performers, make sure that you always point your feet down. If you keep your feet like this, of course it's an option, but make sure that if you want to develop good habits, always point your feet down. Now we're going to do the last one, which is the shuffle behind. This one is a little bit more complicated, so I want you to pay attention slowly. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven, shuffle one, two, three, shuffle five, six, seven and shuffle. So what's happening here is we're going to take three steps one, two and three. On the fourth step we're going to quickly alternate our feet, right/left, and then continue to the right for five, six, seven. And do the same thing on the other side, left/right. Let's try it a little bit faster. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle. Five, six, seven, one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven shuffle one. Now let's demonstrate all these breaks with music, so here we have the heel, then we have the tap behind and remember, you can cross it behind or send it straight back, depending on your choice. The next one is the scoop and gentlemen, of course you can scoop as well, gentlemen. But for us it's more natural to just bring the knee up. And the last one is the shuffle behind. Shuffle, one and those are your bachata breaks.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares five tips about caring for a red-eyed tree frog. Tree Frogs are very popular pets in the reptile and amphibian hobby, and there are some easy ones to keep, like Dumpy frogs and Green Tree frogs. But if you get bored with those species, it's time to move on to the big game, and that is red-eyed tree frogs. Red-eyed tree frogs are beautiful terrarium subjects. I mean, they're one of our favorites as far as observing them in your terrarium, but they're more for the advanced keeper, in that they are extremely fragile. Just taking a look at some of the skinny little legs on these guys and the very narrow bodies can tell you right off the bat that they are not really the easiest things to keep. They can leap tremendous distances, as you just saw, but it's really more the temperature, the humidity is something you really have to pay attention to when you keep these things in your terrarium. We have a different word these days for terrariums and that is a vivarium, and that's where I would keep my red-eyed tree frogs. A vivarium is different. A vivarium has the substrate or the bedding where the animal comes from. It has plants, hopefully live plants if you could afford it and find a good source for them, throughout the enclosure. But in red-eyed tree frog world, which is a rainforest creature, you have to keep this thing wet, not just moist, I mean wet. Six months out of the year it's got to be soaking wet. So, we often put fog machines, waterfalls, misting systems like you see in the supermarket that mist the vegetables. Something like that that can keep the animal humid. Without humidity, frogs will vanish quickly. So, the red-eyed tree frog is a wonderful vivarium subject, but something not for the beginner. A mistake, even a couple of days of wrong humidity, could be the end of the frog. So, you got to do your homework before buying one of these. And always we try to stress getting them from captive-bred sources. That gives you the most healthy animal out there. The red-eyed tree frog, one of our favorites.

I'm tied in as a climber, Chaz is clipped in here is the belayer, we've already done our safety checks, I'm ready to start, and while I'm climbing, I'm going to give you five tips for how to lead climb, and how to do so effectively and efficiently. One good tip is before you start climbing, to take some time and really try to identify the route. What I mean by that is to try to look for critical spots on the route where maybe you'll get a good rest or maybe some difficult cliffs. You'll notice another tip is that when you're clipping, you want to be doing so from a balanced position with a straight arm. Having these straight arms to make those cliffs is a great way to conserve energy. As I move up a little farther, you'll notice my arm still stays straight clipping. I'm making that clip with a straight arm, and at this point, I'm pretty comfortable, I've good footholds, and I'm on a big jump hold, so I can shake out my arms a little bit to try to get some of that lactic acid out of there. I'll do the same with my other arm. This type of move, shaking out, can really help you to recover while you're climbing. Another pointer is when to chalk up. So right now if I'm moving into a difficult sequence, I might want to chalk up before I go through it, so timing your chalk ups, when to do it, how often to do it, is something you want to consider. So, on a similar note, while timing your chalking up, to make sure you're not doing it excessively, but just kind of as needed, a good idea is to try to identify a crux of the route, which is the most difficult section, or where you expect to have the most trouble, and rather than stopping in the middle to chalk up, or maybe try to make a clip from an awkward position, try to push through that crux, identify the sequence, chalk, prepare yourself, get a good rest and shake out, and move straight through that crux Another tip would be that while I'm climbing, if I'm so scared of falling the whole time, it's going to make me over grip, which means squeezing a lot harder than I need to be, and putting a lot of weight on my arm that doesn't need to be there. I want to keep it on my feet. So a great tip for lead climbing, is to get comfortable falling. You're going to climb a whole lot better if you're not scared to fall. It'll also make it a lot easier to commit to some of those bigger moves. So those are some tips that are really good for lead climbing to help you move efficiently and effectively.

And people want to talk about the various positions you can have, you can choose when you play the game of soccer. And we're basically have the goal keeper. We have the defenders, we have the midfielders and we have the strikers. The goal keeper of course is the first responsibility is to assure that the strikers won't get the ball behind the goal line and actually score. On the second thought the goal keeper would be the first player to initiate the game, to start the game from the back of the defense. The next line is the line of defenders. Again, even more, the responsibility of the defenders would be to mark up the strikers, close gap some defense and prevent the opposition from goal scoring. The next line would be the midfielders. The midfielders are the once who organize the game. They have defense responsibilities but also offense responsibilities. And they organize the game, they make sure that they close the gap in defense, turn around quickly, open the game to the front to the strikers, get the strikers in goal scoring positions and move up themselves or maybe even choose to finish themselves and try to score. The last one, the most front on the field would be the strikers or the forwards. Of course the idea is to get the ball as quickly as possible into the goal, into the net of the opposition. As a defender you have the whole game in front of you. You have more time usually to open the game. You have more time when you have possession of the ball. You want to open it mindfully to the side not to the center. The midfielders are always moving, always trying to open up, giving opportunities, passing options as well to strikers and defenders. The strikers on the other hand usually have the defender in the back where there's a different kind of play. The want to drop the ball maybe to the midfielder to open up the game on the side but then quickly move into goal scoring position themselves and finish. That's the basic idea of soccer positions and I think it's a good way to start.

Well, they're wrong. If you know what motivates your cat, you can train it. Now, training with Fria today is going to be a little difficult because she's pretty snooty, but I'm just going to see if she has a reaction to her favorite treat bag. That can be a great place to start for coming when called. Many cats know the sound of their treat bag and get excited right off the bat when they hear it. So, let's just see if she wakes up. Oh, suddenly we're interested. Well, it's not an ideal time to practice coming when called. It is a good time to reinforce the association that hearing the treat bag means good things. Now, many cat owners already know about the treat bag effect, but what they don't know is that it's really easy to capitalize on it to teach your cat to come when called. The way to do that is to pair your cat's name with a treat. The great news is since your cat knows the sound of a treat bag or a treat canister, you can build on an already strong association. So, in this case, you might say your cat's name and then give them a treat. So, I'll go like this. Fria and then I crinkle the bag which means a treat is coming and then I give her one. Now first, when you're starting this you want to start right by your cat because they don't really know what you're trying to do. Start at a place where cat and you are most likely to be successful. So, rinse and repeat. Fria, crinkle, crinkle and then give a treat. Now, when you're ready to start working on coming when called you can begin working from a distance. I'm not going to do this with Fria today because she might walk right off the table if she happened to get up, but what you would do is the same type of behavior. Say the cat's name, crinkle the bag and as soon as they come over give a treat. Eventually, the name that you give your cat for this exercise will become as powerful as the treat bag and you'll see that when you give the sound of your cat's name that your cat comes running for that treat. Over time you can stop using food and use scratches or other positive attention that your cat enjoys as a reinforcer. Just remember that it's not normal for cats to come when called in the wild, so it's definitely a behavior that's worth paying for. That's how you teach your cat to come when called.

How can you resist such welcoming pets? Step 1: Do research Before you actually bring your guinea pig home, do a little research online and in magazines and books. Guinea pigs need more care and attention than you might expect. Step 2: Get company Guinea pigs are social animals—they’d much rather live with another guinea pig or two than by themselves. If you want your little squeaker to be the happiest, get her a friend. Step 3: Consider roommates Female guinea pigs can usually live comfortably together. Male guinea pigs should be from the same litter to reduce grumpiness and fighting. And since guinea pig neutering isn’t widely available, don’t keep males and females in the same pen. Step 4: Give them room Guinea pigs need plenty of space to run around. One guinea pig needs at least four square feet of space—but the roomier, the better. Step 5: Line the cage Guinea pigs’ feet are delicate. Don’t keep them in wire-bottomed cages. Instead, use cages with solid bottoms, and line the cage or pen with newspaper topped with plenty of hay, shredded paper, or recycled pellet-type bedding. Tip A hard-sided children’s wading pool makes a good guinea pig pen. Step 6: Provide lots of hay A guinea pig’s main food source should be fresh, high-quality timothy hay. Feed your piggies as much hay as they’ll eat—they need the fiber, and munching on hay is the best way to keep their teeth from growing too long. Step 7: Give them vitamin C Guinea pigs depend on their owners to provide them with vitamin C. Commercial guinea pig pellets contain the necessary amount of C. Generally, one adult guinea pig needs a ¼ cup of pellets per day. Use fresh pellets, as vitamin C breaks down, and don’t substitute rabbit pellets, which aren’t the same thing. Tip Many guinea pigs think Vitamin C tablets are a treat. Give your piggies a quarter of a tablet once a week, or sprinkle a crushed tablet over their food. Step 8: Give them greens Guinea pigs should also have a handful of varied greens and vegetables each day. Provide those high in vitamin C like kale, dandelion greens, and strips of red pepper. Step 9: Give them water Guinea pigs drink tons of water. Make sure yours have clean, fresh water available at all times. Step 10: Provide hiding places Guinea pigs love having hiding places to play and sleep in. Try empty coffee cans, shoeboxes with holes cut in them, and overturned flowerpots. While guinea pigs like to play, they’re not particularly nimble—offer them balls and low ramps for exercise. Step 11: Let them run free Give your guinea pigs plenty of 'floor time' each day. Let them run around in a space that’s free of wires and other dangers—you don’t want them nibbling on your computer cords! Step 12: Groom your piggies Many guinea pigs love to be brushed. Longhaired guinea pigs should be brushed every day. Step 13: Watch their health Call a small-animal veterinarian if your guinea pigs are sneezing or coughing, have diarrhea, or seem lethargic. A happy, healthy guinea pig can live for up to 10 years, so with good care your little friend will be around for a nice long time. Did You Know? Excited guinea pigs sometimes jump up and down—a behavior called 'popcorning.'

Kristina: And I'm Kristina. Aaron: And we are professional dance instructors here in New York City, and today we're going to bringing you a series based on the waltz. Kristina: So the first step we're going to do is the box step which is like the most common foundational step for everything you're going to learn in the waltz. So just a couple of things really quickly. The waltz is a smooth dance, which means it travels around the room in a counter-clockwise direction, so if you're ever anywhere where there are people dancing, just kind of take note of the direction that they're going and make sure you join in and go that same direction. So we're going to start this pattern side by side. We're both going to begin with our left foot going forward. The girls just note that generally you will generally be starting this on your right foot going backward. So we're going to take our left foot. We have one step forward, one. Step to the side with your right foot, two. Close your left foot to your right foot, three. And then go ahead and take a step back on the right, side left, close right foot to left foot. So we have one, two, three, one two, three. And so a note for this, if you've ever seen waltz dancing, there is a rise and fall to this dance, so the downbeat is on one so we're going to call it, in its most basic terms, going forward, down, up, up, down, up, up. And that's just a really basic way to kind of get you familiar with the rise and fall of the waltz. You can kind of try to add that in. So let's dance this with a partner. So we're going to take our traditional dance hold, palm to palm, and then girls you're going to take your right hand and place it just below the shoulder. Gentlemen your left hand will be in her palm, right hand will be on her shoulder blade. So, another important note. When you set up, be slightly offset. So girls think about stepping slightly to the left. Guys, think about having her slightly to her right. That way you won't hit feet when you try to dance. So we have one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. We can also take this basic step and we can rotate it to the left a little bit, so we'll show you that right now. And one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. Now let's try that to some music.

Watch more How to Do Yoga videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501345-How-to-Do-a-Downward-Facing-Dog-Yoga So. let's talk about Adho Mukha Svanasana, often times you hear it, downward facing dog. So, it's a alignment in the shoulders that we should cover before we go. So, you're gonna reach over, thumbs out to the sides and reach your palms open. Take one hand for the bicep and externally rotate it. And you can do it the other way too, just to kind of see what that feels like in the shoulder. If it's internally rotated, you'll feel like it starts to roll in. If it's externally rotated, it will actually integrate back in towards you. And that's the more safe way to have your shoulder. So, you want to have that here. And then, you'll just spend the forearm separately from it, and then reach your hand down. And that's the kind of shoulder that we want to have for, for most of our balancing postures. It's really, a externally rotated shoulder is what gonna be most of time in yoga. For eagle arms, that's when your're gonna internally rotate, but pretty rare. So, you, you want to be able to find if that is the case for you. If you go to do this, and you can't put your hand down, then maybe downward facing dog isn't the pose for you. And I'll show you another modification in place of it. But, so if that's the case, you pass the test and your shoulder can stay externally rotated. You're gonna set your hands shoulder distance apart. Tuck your toes underneath and walk yourself into, into kinda of, like a, tripod-triangle type of position ,where your hips are up. Not super important that your legs are completely straight, or that your heels are on the floor. And yours might look like, might look like that. And that's, and that's totally, OK. Eventually you're working the knees to spread the inner thighs back and apart, and then the heels will settle down the floor. As the fingers go, we have this, what is call the triad of the hand, That's the thumb, index finger, and the place in between. That's the part of the, of the posture of the hand that should have the most weight, like, load in the most weight. So, the pinkies get light, and the triad of the hand get, get heavier. So, that is the pose. In the pose benefits of this posture, your head is dangling below your heart. That's an inversion. So, new oxygenated blood is traveling towards your central nervous system. That's always good. External rotation of the shoulder. Keeping that index finger is nice and heavy. And you just breath, gaze in between your feet, or to the back wall. And that is downward facing dog.

In this video, belly dancer Irina Akulenko teaches you how to do the belly dance move known as the Basic Egyptian. You'll be shaking it like Shakira in no time. So now we're going to learn how to do the Basic Egyptian. Come back to the neutral position keeping the knees bent, once again chest lifted, lower abs in. And you're going to touch the right foot in front, and come back, touch the left, and come back. Touch the right, and come back, touch the left, and come back. Keep the knees slightly bent at all times. And now as you touch you're going to push the hip up, and release, and the other side. And as you push up, that hip is going to go to the opposite, upward diagonal. So if you're squeezing your right hip up you're going to aim at the left upper corner. And reverse it, when you're squeezing the left side, aiming at the right upper corner. Chest is lifted, and adding that small lift and twist. Once again, you want to make sure you're not bouncing in space, the chest is lifted, the head is still. And once again from the side. And now we're going to add arms. Same active side of the leg will be active with the arm as well, so the right hand will be reached right in front, the left will touch the top of your head, and then you're going to switch. Pushing right in front, and down. From the side. So now we're going to start both the hand and the leg at the same time. Reaching forward the right side, with a twist, and switch, with a twist. Let's try that with music. And there are various arm positions for this movement, so you can see lots of different variations, but this is one of the most basic versions. So this is how you do the Basic Egyptian.

Step 2: Bring a headshot Bring a professional headshot that looks like you in daily life, as opposed to a glammed-up version. Directors and producers don't like it when actors look nothing like their photo. Step 3: Don't go in costume Wear clothes that suggest you have an understanding of the show so the director can envision you in the part. But don't show up in full costume. Tip If it's exclusively a dance audition, just wear your dance clothes. Step 4: Pick the right song If you're auditioning for a musical, pick audition songs that reflect the period or genre of the show – not the show itself. You can prepare a few from the actual show, but only sing them if you're asked to. Sing just 32 bars of a song unless otherwise specified. Tip Have your sheet music organized for the pianist: Mark where the music should start and end, and put it in the right key. Step 5: Rehearse your scene If you're auditioning for a drama, rehearse the "sides" – a few pages from the script that you are provided with in advance of the audition. Bring the pages to the auditioning venue; it's common to hold them while you perform. Step 6: Jump right in At the audition, greet the people judging you and then begin your performance; don't ask them for direction. If you make a mistake, keep going, or ask if you may start again. No one is looking for or expecting perfection. Step 7: Go with the flow If the director asks you to try something different, do it without argument, no matter how terrified or ill-equipped you feel. They are checking to see how well you take direction and how easily you go with the flow. Step 8: Act confident Exude confidence, or at least fake it. After all, you're an actor! Did You Know? Actor Ben Vereen was so impressive at his audition for the play Pippin that the director changed the age of a character to give him the part.

And a lot of people have trouble doing this at home and they end up making it into a two person job. I've seen this in a clinic, sometimes in a clinic they have two people doing it. It's actually less stressful for the rabbit if you can just do it yourself as you do at home as I do at home. Fewer people around the rabbit, less commotion. It's just much easier. You make it a one person job. Now this bunny has not had her nails cut before. And she's a rex rabbit. Her nails a little bit different then they are in a non rex rabbit. What's different? We'll take a look. Okay. Let's watch. Their nails tend to be a little bit curlier in rexes in my experience. Okay. And the vessel may be a little bit. These are pretty easy to see. This rabbit has both dark nails and light nails and it doesn't make any difference what color the nails are when you use this technique because what you're going to do with this technique is you're going to use the rabbit's own feedback to let you know when you're too close to the blood vessel. Instead of depending on your eyesight to see where the blood vessel which you may or may not be able to do. You're going to squeeze on the nail a little bit. First of all you need scissors. Like little clippers like this right? Are these for cats or something? I think they're considered bird nail clippers but I've seen them called kitty clippers too, sometimes they have a long spike down one of the handles. I don't like that, but I put the rabbit on a towel. I want her on a towel because I want her to feel good traction which she probably feels from these little rugs too and then I press her against myself and restraint is probably the most important part of doing a nail cutting. If a rabbit is carefully and gently restrained and not over restrained, you'll get much better results and I think you've seen this at home with Dusty too. Amy's rabbit hates to be restrained. She just really doesn't like this. So the less restraint you can use, the better off you are so what I do is I put the bunny against my body and I use this part of my arm, my rolled up sleeve to press against her hind quarters like this and I pick up just one paw and then I put the clippers around the paw, just the very tip. Don't try to go down too much. And I go press, press clip. And then I'm going to put it around this nail. Press, press clip. Why am I going press, press? Because I'm giving the bunny an opportunity to react to the pressure and the position of the scissors. If I'm too close to the vessel the bunny will suddenly pull back her paw and sometimes they'll shake the paw to show you that you've sinned. And that's the same as what they call a quick. Right? Yea. The vessel is the quick. And the bunny will pull her paw back if you're too close to it and that gives you an opportunity to reposition your scissors because what you've done by doing press press first you've made a little white line on the nail. And if the bunny is disturbed that you're too close to the quick. She'll shake her paw to get rid of you and then she'll quiet down again and you can pick up the paw and cut on the other side of the white nail. And it won't bother her at all. So we've done a couple of nails on that paw and they're are four pointing forward nails on the front and then a dill claw, a fifth one which is up on the side the equivalent of our thumb and that is always hard to see. So you just do your best. She's being so good this bunny. Press, Press Clip. Great. Thank you very much. Look at you! That was great. That was that paw. The next paw, you're going to stand the bunny on her hind legs supporting her chest and letting the paw hang down like this. You should be able to put your chin on her head and kiss her head. Aw. She loves that! And this is very easy nail to visuali

But what is Sacada? Sacada is a displacement of the foot so in other words i take her place. Sacad literally means to take out. Now you take her with embrase and now we are going to go all the way accross. I know that my right leg is free, so as i leed i am gonna place my foot right next to her so we are gonna sacada that foot. Now we are gonna Sacada the side foot and finally we are gonna sacada her front foot. After this we are gonna conclude with the forward step and then we can walk. So the followers in the sacada we are just doing a great wine or a heto. We are gonna go forward while the leader displaces while we turn into a three leg then you go side here you are gonna follow your partners movement, so that he can displace your feet. Make sure that your connection stays strong and are always following your partners chest as you go around. To lead a Sacada its only that i am taking her place so i don't necessarily have to push her out with my foot. Its a misconception to do that. What we do id once i place my foot keep on leading so that we can move she can move out of my way its almost like opening the door for a sec from here then we do that each time in the take out the forward step it feels like there is going to be some contact but you are not looking for that contact. So in a way this is a way to if you work. so the lead the follower will follow the lead because the leader is just opening his chest so that will create the circular motion to keep him going around him. Wright you don't have to lead each one individually just give general lead and you know through practice that's what the step to you know that is in this case front side and back. So you are sacada in the training class.

Watch more Public Speaking Training videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/505059-How-to-Speak-in-Front-of-a-Big-Crowd-Public-Speaking How do you speak in front of a big crowd? You're in front of five hundred, or a thousand, or three thousand people. How do you do it? Here's the secret: it's no different than speaking to one person. Now, I understand it feels different. It feels scary. But here's the secret great speakers have. It doesn't matter if you love Ronald Reagan as a speaker, or Bill Clinton, or Tony Blair. All different speakers, different styles, different politics, but here's one thing they have in common. When they're speaking or were speaking to ten thousand people, or speaking to two people, they sounded exactly the same. So, here's the big secret when it comes to talking to large audiences: don't change yourself. Because most of us, when we're speaking to one friend or two buddies at lunch, we're animated. We're engaging, we're telling stories, and we're giving examples. Our hands are moving. Our face is moving. We get in front of a large audience, and all the things we do that worked for us, all the things that were interesting that made us easy to listen to, we take that, we ball it up, and we throw it in the trash can. And we put on this fake persona, my fellow delegates it's an honor to be here today. We become stiff and we become wooden. Our voice goes flat. We tense up. We grab a lectern. All these things we do because we're scared. The problem is, as much as I love crutches, these crutches don't prop us up. They bring us down. They make us worse. So, you've got to simply tell yourself you're talking to one person. You've got to use that tone of voice. Because these days if you're speaking to a large room of people chances are you're going to have a microphone, so you don't have to speak like this because that's really annoying. You speak in a conversational tone of voice. Here's the other trick: your eye contact. What a lot of people do is they're like this the whole time. They may be moving, but they have this glazed look in their eye. You don't want to do that. Or, they just zoom in here, zoom in here, and here. It's too mechanical. What you want to do is just look at one spot. Ideally, if you can see people, look at one person for a full thought. That's only five seconds or so. Go to another person in a different part of the audience. Pretend you're having a one on one conversation with that person for a full thought. And mix it up. That will make it more relaxing for you. You'll sound like you're talking to one person. And it'll keep your head from bouncing around and looking nervous and scared. The other final tip is, it's one of those things, the more you do it the easier it gets. Seek out opportunities to speak in front of large groups. Don't be one of these people that says, well I could speak to one person, or I can speak to two people, or I can speak sitting in a boardroom, but I'm not a public speaker so I can't. Baloney. If you've ever had one interesting conversation with one person in your entire life you already have all the skills you need to be a great public speaker in front of ten thousand people.

Whenever I think of pinched harmonics the first person I think of is Billy Gibbons the guitarist for ZZ Top. A lot of other great players have made nice use of pinched harmonics as well. One of the things to keep in mind is that there are harmonics five, seven, and twelve frets away from every note as well as in other positions. For more details, I did do another Howcast lesson on harmonics, so you should check that out. Let's look at the position of the second fret, F sharp minor. My clearest harmonics here are twelve frets away. That's the fourteenth fret. So, just for demonstration, I'm going to use my first finger and I'm going to pick each harmonic. If I were to tap those it would sound like this. Okay. So, these aren't good for pinched harmonics because it's very hard to pick up here. What I want to do is go twelve frets higher, right. One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. Now, here I start to run out of room. So, I have to use the pick-up or the body of the guitar to memorize where I am. Now, using pinching technique I can find the harmonics. So, I'm just picking the note. As I pick the note my thumb is supposed to go over the harmonic. Now, I have to find this. No. There we go. Okay. So this is easy to remember because on this guitar it's pretty much right in the line of the pick-up. On another guitar it might be above the screw of the pick-up, and it's going to be in a different place for each key. A big part of this is memorizing where the harmonics are on the guitar. But since I know where the main harmonic is for F sharp I can figure out where the rest of the notes are. Alright, it's rough, but basically that's this pentatonic and harmonics. When playing pinched harmonics it really helps to be on the treble pick-up. It helps to have a lot of distortion, too. I can continue through the scale and play harmonics. Okay. Having mapped out the harmonics I can now play some licks and just throw in pinched harmonics here and there. Check it out. So, with pinched harmonics you sort of have to guess where they are. You're not going to nail them every time, but when you do nail them they sound cool. I hope you've enjoyed this lesson on pinched harmonics.

You can reheat it in its own container, using the sun's power. Step 1: Draw a square Using the ruler and black marker, draw a square on your pizza-box lid, leaving a 1-inch border from the edge of the box to each side of the square. Step 2: Form the flap With the box cutter or utility knife, cut through three sides of the square you just drew, leaving the line at the rear of the box attached. Fold the flap back so that it stands up when the pizza-box lid is closed. Step 3: Cover the flap with foil Cover the underside of the flap with heavy-duty aluminum foil, which will reflect sunlight into the oven. Glue the foil to the flap, smooth out wrinkles, and cut off any excess. Step 4: Tape plastic sheet With the scissors, cut two square pieces of clear plastic wrap, each 1 square inch larger than the flap opening. Open the pizza box, and tape one piece of plastic to the underside of the hole so that the plastic covers it. Step 5: Tape second plastic sheet Close the lid, and tape the second plastic sheet over the top of the hole, creating a window that helps keep the sun’s heat in the box. Pull both sheets taut as you tape them. Tip Maintaining an airtight box is crucial in keeping the oven hot. Step 6: Layer the bottom with foil Glue or tape a layer of aluminum foil to the inside bottom of your pizza box for insulation. Step 7: Cover with black paper Cover the foil layer in the box with sheets of black construction paper and glue them into place. The black base will absorb light and generate more heat inside your oven. Step 8: Find best angle Close the lid, and you’re ready to start cooking! On a bright day, place your solar oven outside in direct sunlight. Adjust the foil flap to find the best ray-reflecting angle, and use the ruler, a stick, or a hard-plastic straw to keep the flap propped in place. Tip If you want to test the reflective angles of your oven before you head outside, shine a laser pointer onto the foil flap to simulate rays of sunlight. Step 9: Preheat Preheat your oven by leaving it in direct sunlight for 30 minutes. The box’s temperature will reach about 200 degrees, so while you won’t be able to cook a roast, you can reheat cooked food, melt cheese or chocolate, or—if you have all day—prepare a veggie stew. Step 10: Cook Whatever you decide to cook, place it—on its own, or in a heat-safe container—in the center of the oven, so that it is directly under the plastic-wrap window. Close the lid, leaving the flap propped open, and check on your food every 15 to 30 minutes. Did You Know? Earth receives more energy from the sun in one hour than our entire planet uses in a year.
