Now, we're going to talk about the arm triangle, and Chad is going to teach it. The first place we're going to get the arm triangle from is the mount. Okay. Now you have to be careful to make sure all the grips are set. And one of the good things to do in arm triangle is always try to finish it with one hand if you can, to make sure that you can finish it with two. And Chad's going to get into it. Okay. Chad Hernandez: Okay. So let's start in the mount position. A particular way I like to engage an arm triangle is with an arm hook here. We call this control here a Captain Hook. My shoulder's very relaxed, and I'm applying downward pressure into the face. At the same time, my free hand is under the arm. So I'm really staying very , but putting a lot of weight onto the head. Now of course while this is engaged, this hand is walking up. If I had a very strong guy and I can't really get up, I can take my time. I can walk little by little. Hold it. Hold it. Let him wait. Let him wait. Get him really tired. Do it again. My objective is to get the arm up to the ear as much as possible. Once that's established, I can slide my head down and start establishing my arm triangle grip, the choking arm palm down, the outside hand under like so. Okay. but just to show the choke, I'm just going to demonstrate without this grip, just showing the grip beforehand. Now make sure, guys, that your weight is never forward. It's always back. The shoulder must be relaxed, and my shoulder, again, is not going forward either. It is back, and it's to the side. Not stiff, forward. It's relaxed and to the side, as the rest of my body weight is going downward, not going forward. It's a very big misunderstanding with the arm triangle. Now I'm going to start back to that position again. Now I'm getting one hand. I am going to, while keeping this pressure on the throat, I am going to tripod and slide across the stomach. And as you can see here, this leg is holding on, the foot, to both legs. And I'm going to slide right here to a sprawl position. I prefer to keep my inside leg flat. And now while continuing to kind of sprawl my weight downward and keep my shoulder relaxed, I'm going to start rotating. Okay. So let's do it one more time. Captain Hook control. Walk the arm up, up to the ear, guys. Also, one more detail, guys. Make sure the arm is not like this. I must have it downward right here, right by his neck, under the chin. Okay. Gable grip here, but for now let's do it with one hand. Tripod. Slide across. And sprawl. And let's start rotating as we're dropping our weight down. And that is a arm triangle setup from mount.

So we're going to start off teaching you the bass beat and then Oscar will always do the bass beat. And I will you another step, which is just one step routine that you will do one at a time and then together. Alright? So, we start off with our bass beat. What we're going to do is do a single stomp with our right leg, and then you go onto your left and do a hand clap. Okay? So you're going to go boom, boom clap. Five, six, seven, and right, left right. Five, six, seven, and right, left, right. Then you're going to go right, left clap, boom, bop. Right, left clap, right stomp, right thigh. So it goes five, six, seven, and. So now you're going to add your left stomp and another hand clap right after that. So it's going to go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. After we do this phrase right here, five, six, seven, and [dances], you're going to do another single stomp right here, another left single stomp, and a clap. Do another hand clap. Okay? So let's combine that right there. So you're going to go boom, boom clap, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom, bop. Cool? So now, right now, you've got to understand that we just, our last stomp was on our left leg but we're going to do another stomp on the left leg to now clap over the right and then under the right. Okay? So it's going to go, let's take it from here. Boom, boom bop, boom, clap, clap. Okay? So let's combine that all together. So it should sound something like this. So it should go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom bop, boom, bop, bop. Okay? And then we're going to do this one more time. So now we loop it, yeah? So this right leg is up and you're just going to use that next stomp to start it all over again. And it's just going to go boom, boom bop, boom, bop, boom, bop. Boom, boom bop, boom, bop, bop, and finish, boom. So now, that is our bass beat. And it sounds pretty much like this. Five, six, five, six, five, six, seven, and [dances]. And that's your bass beat. So now we're going to add the actual step that we need to learn to combine with this bass beat. You ready? Here we go. We stomp with our left leg, and clap over our right and then under our right. We want to stomp with our right leg and clap over our left and then under our left. And the beat goes boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop. One more time. Five, six, seven, and a [dances]. Okay? So right now you're going to stomp this leg right here, boom, and then clap with your hand. Okay? Then you're going to go, to combine it together it's going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, clap. Okay? And then you're going to take a stomp with your right leg, boom, and hit both your thighs with your hands, bop. So it's going to go five, six, seven, and boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, bop. Boom, bop. To finish that off you're going to stomp with your left leg and clap twice with your hands. Boom, bop, bop. Cool? So let's add that on. So it's going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom, bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Bop. Okay? So now to finish this you're going to do it one more time again but the ending is going to be a little bit difference. So after you said boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Bop. You're going to do it one more time. Boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. And now this ending is where the difference comes. You're going to do two doubles and end off with a single. Ba-boom, ba-boom, boom. Once again, after you hit your thighs right here you're going to go right left, right left, right. Okay? So let's combine it, just that second part. So you're going to go boom, bop, bop, boom, bop, bop, boom bop. Boom, bop, boom bop. Ba-boom, ba-boom, boom. Okay? So now when you put it all together for just the step alone it sounds like this. So now we're going to take that step and mix it with the bass beat to create a whole new beat. Are you ready? I'm going to do it slow, in tempo, and then we're done. Here we go. Five, six, five, six, five, six, seven and. And that's how you do it.

So right now I'm going to share with you five advanced techniques, some moves that you might not always think about, but some pretty interesting ways to kind of use your body and coordinate some motion. The first example is something called a rose move, and a rose move is when you actually open away from the walls, that your hips are facing in a different direction. Often times the way the holds are laid out on the wall will dictate whether or not these types of moves are going to be necessary. So the rose move would be when my left hand was here, and I'm crossing underneath with my right hand, turning my hips away from the wall. Another example of an advanced technique will be what's known as a knee bar. A knee bar is when you're using not necessarily your knee, but more commonly the to of your thigh, and you're going to use that thigh and your foot to really create some opposition and allow your body to really be weighted on just that knee bar, and the tension that you're getting between those two points. So right there you'll notice I can take all my body weight and place it right here on this knee bar with my left foot really pushing and getting that thigh up against that hold, which allows me to turn this corner. One other technique would be similar to using a toe hook, except you're using two toe hooks at the same time, which is also known as a bat hang. In this instance, a bat hang allows me to make this change in angle and complete this transition. So that would be a bat hang. Another technique is something known as a bicycle, and a bicycle is where you're using the bottom side of your toe and the top of your toe, which would be a toe hook, at the same time to basically squeeze one hold or two holds together to create that same sense of opposition, almost like closing a vice. So right here I'll use a bicycle on this yellow hold to keep both of my feet up, keep my body in position. So in this position, you can see one leg is pulling, the other leg is pushing the whole time, I have my core involved to help keep those legs up, my body in position. That's how you use a bicycle. The final move here is something known as a drop knee. The drop knee is a great way to kind of lower your center of gravity, and keep it in your base of support, which are the contact points you have with the wall. When your center of gravity is lower, your base of support, it makes you more stable, more capable of doing a move slowly, with a bit more control. So to get into the drop knee, I'll place my left foot on this hold, and then literally turn my knee in, dropping it down, and twisting up. That drop knee allows you to really keep your center of gravity nice and low within your base of support, making your body nice and balanced and stable, really allows you to suck that hip in nice and close to the wall, to get a little bit of extra reach out of that whole system. And those are a couple of advanced bouldering techniques you might encounter here in the gym.

The most important thing is how to finish your flair routine. You're doing all sorts of stuff, bottles are going all over the place, everyone's sitting there like this watching everything you're doing all in awe, how do you finish, how to you pour the bottle? The last thing you want to do is do all this crazy stuff, and then just take the bottle and go like that, it's anticlimactic, it doesn't work. So what we want to do is we want to learn how to do is Flip to Pour. What you're going to do is you're going to hold your bottle in what's called a bartender grip. Instead of holding it like this, we're going to hold it by the neck just like a bartender would take it out of the bottle or out of their well. What we're going to do is we're going to take our bottle, we're going to take our tin, the mouth is going to face up because that's what we're going to pour it into. We're going to take our bottle and you're going to snap it outward, away from your body, and what you're going to do is as soon as you let go of your bottle you're going to simply open your hand and the bottle is going to fall right back into it. It looks like this, it's really easy actually. It's a one-rotation, you're just going to snap, open, and let the bottle fall into your hand It's already in a pouring position. With your other hand you're going to have your tin set here ready to go. You're going to flip, catch, and you're already pouring the bottle. Then as you get more and more comfortable, you go to glass with liquid in it. Because we're flipping the bottle centrifugal force is involved so we want to make sure that the bottle has less than two ounces, or two ounces or less. Any more than that and this move can't be done, we'd have to figure out a different way to pour. Maybe we could take the bottle and throw it around our head, but in this case what we're going to do is, we're going to take our bottle, our tin, we're going to set it, we're going to flip, and we're going to pour. When you're done you bring your bottle down to cut the pour and then were going to just put our tin on the bar. If we're doing shots maybe we'll pour it straight from a tin into our glass. So again, just to reiterate the concept, we're going to take our bottle, we're going to put our tin here, we're going to flip our bottle, catch our bottle, and pour. When we're ready to stop we're going to simply bring our bottle down, we're going to pour it into our glass or whatever we're pouring it into, and that is how you do a Bottle Flip to a Pour.

How to Tie a Merovingian Knot | Men's Fashion

We're in New York. And I'm going to teach you how to tie the Merovingian knot. It's also called Ediety knot. So the way you want to start for this knot, it's a knot that goes around the narrow side quite a few times, so you want to wear the wide end fairly long compared to the narrow end, probably about 20 inches below depending on the length of your tie. So this is how you start. The wide end goes underneath the narrow end. You go over the top once and pull it out on the same side. So this is what you have. Now you go over to the front, underneath through the back, and now you should be in this position so the tie is upside down. So this is a tie from my friend Cara Patrizio from Capelli in Naples, Italy. And this is how you proceed. So your tie is upside down. You go around the back, through the top. You're almost there. Now the last step you have to complete is reverse the knot, loosen it gently, and slide the white part inside the loop that you've created for that. Adjust it nicely. Tighten the knot, and there you go. You have your Merovingian knot. So after spending so much time tying the knot, it's something you don't want to wear when you're really casual. It's really a knot that is used in formal occasions, probably wearing a three piece suit, for example, or a nice blazer. And definitely going with a sophisticated look with this type of knot. The guy who created this knot probably watch Matrix a little bit too much, but this is probably where the name came from, the Merovingian knot.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares eight tips about caring for a bearded dragon. The number one pet lizard in the world is certainly the Bearded Dragon. This is a phenomenon that started about 25 years ago when these animals were imported from their native country of Australia. But very soon we found that they bred readily in captivity and now you'll never see an animal in the US marketplace, the pet marketplace, that comes from Australia. Their ancestors did. They are bred in captivity and bred readily. And the reason for their popularity is twofold, really. Number one, the bottom one here is pretty much an adult; 18 inches is where they max out. But they come from a very dry habitat, almost desert-like. They'll live on sand. So anybody's ever kept a tropical lizard like an iguana knows what a mess it can be when they do their business. When a Bearded Dragon uses the bathroom, he does it in a tank where there's sand and heat lamps, and it's extremely easier to pick that up than it is something that's tropical in a wet environment. So he's very hygienic. But, really, the number one reason for their popularity is they are extremely friendly creatures. Nothing you see before you here is a trained animal. This is just the nature of them. We have customers in our store that come in this time of the year, summer time, they have them on their shoulders, they have them under their hats, under their jackets, and they walk around with them. We just recently created, as a matter of fact, a carry bag called a Beardie Bag that we produce here, to carry your Bearded Dragon with you wherever you go, to the super market, to the shopping center and the movies. People keep their dragons with them. It's got a wow factor because it looks kind of dinosaur-like, but really, all those little appendages and spikes on the side of them are not there for anything but to stop an animal from biting it and swallowing it if it was out in nature. So. it really is not as rough looking as it seems. They are omnivorous in their diet, so they're easy to keep. Any type of insects, crickets, worms, et cetera., they'll gobble up. And they love their greens. So moms love Bearded Dragons because they encourage salad eating throughout the family. The Bearded Dragon's going to eat salad, so do you. So kids have to learn how to do that as well as Dragons do. The Bearded Dragon has supplanted and taken the place of the Green Iguana, that for decades dominated the industry. Green Iguanas are a difficult animal to keep in comparison to these, and we really promote the use of Bearded Dragons as a pet for a child. These are excellent. They come now in a variety of colors. In their native land they would be more sand colored, but through captive and selective breeding, we see yellow, orange, and red dragons that are striking in color and just make a tremendous companion. We call them study buddies here. We call them lap lizards. We call them anything we want as far as to show people they are fantastic companion animals. The Bearded Dragon: easy to keep, never going to bite you, and long-lived, 15, 20 years.

I'm Mike Patrick, and this is how to do the classic Cups And Balls Trick. You have three balls and three cups. You place one of the balls onto the center cup, stack and then snap, and then one of the balls magically goes through the cups. I can do it again. I place this ball on top. Give it a snap of the fingers and the ball goes right through. It happens every single time whether you want it to or not. And that's the classic Cups And Balls Trick. Now this is a very fancy set of cups, but you can do it with any cups. If you have coffee cups that you can get from Starbucks, you can do it with Starbucks cups and some napkins. That's probably the best way of doing it, because you can just do it in front of your friends, impromptu. It's the easiest method. You need three balls. Actually more specifically, you need four balls. The fourth ball is secret. They never get to know about this. The fourth ball is put in the middle cup. So if you have three cups, you should have cup A, nothing, cup B, that's the ball inside, and then cup C goes on the bottom of this. If you hold the cups in your hand like this, they can see the mouth of this cup, and by grabbing the bottommost cup, you rotate it towards yourself and you put it down. The second cup actually has a ball inside of it, so you don't want to do this, because they'll see the ball. What you do is, again, you rotate it towards yourself, and you do it quickly enough, not fast, but enough so the ball doesn't fall out before the cup hits the table. You place this down. This is essentially what you're going to be doing over and over again. So what you do, is you place this ball on top, you stack them on top, snap your fingers and show that the ball has apparently went through the cup. You do the exact same thing. Re-stack the cups. Place them in a line. Now there are two balls under this cup. When you place this on top, snap, goes through, and then finally you do it one more time, and that makes all three balls go through. And that is how you do the classic Cups And Balls Trick.

Now, when it comes to potty training your parrot, the thing you need to realize is that birds are wild animals. They're going to poop every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the species. So, the first thing you got to do is get out of your mind that you're going to have a perfect potty train that'll never poop on anything. Because no matter how good of a job you do, accidents will still happen. So, stock up on good cleaning supplies: a wetvac, a mop, anything you can use to clean your parrots nest is good. The less of a big deal you make about the parrot making a mess, the less you're going to encourage any of that type of behavior. Another strategy is to keep the parrot on parrot-approved places, like this tree right here. The bottom is made to be easy to clean. So, if the parrots spent a lot of their time on parrot places instead of on human furniture, you're less likely to have a mess throughout your house. Part of the strategy for keeping your parent on parrot-approved places is to do a lot of training, like the tricks we've been going over. If you teach your parrots tricks on their training arches and trees, they're more familiar with spending time on those places and their more likely to go over to them when they're out and about. Now, when it comes to actually the potty training process, you can't really do it the same way that you teach normal tricks such as clicking and giving a treat. That's known to make parrots hold it in for too long and that can actually hurt their digestive system. So, instead, it's important to encourage the parrot to poop on it's designated places but not mandate it. So, the strategy is to realize how long between poops that your bird goes. If you realize that you have a small bird and it goes every five minutes, that's going to be the number you go for. The bigger bird might be half an hour. But these guys, maybe about 15 minutes. So, what Im going to do, when I want to just spend time with my bird, I want to have him on my shoulder, on me, I will hold them and make sure that I'm not spending more than the allotted time between when they go to do their business. So, I might pick up the bird and hold it for ten minutes. Knowing that they're going to poop in 15. Play with them, do whatever I want to do with my pet. Then, I'm going to go and put them back down on their stand after ten minutes elapses. Now, I'm going to wait five minutes until they finally take their poop, whatever that comes out to. And as soon as they do, I'm going to make a big deal. Be like "Wow, that was very good! That's great!" And I'll come back over and pick up the bird and spend more time with it again. And then ten minutes goes by. I feel like a next poop is due. Before it can happen, I'll put her back down on the perch and wait until she does it. After you do this for a couple weeks or months, your parrot will catch on that the sooner they do their business when they're put down, the sooner you'll pick them up and keep spending time with them. So, they learn to naturally do more of they're business around their perches instead of on you or on unapproved human furniture areas. If your parrot wings aren't clip and they're flighted, they can even learn to fly back to they're stand when they need to go, which is really convenient if you lose track of timing. If they're familiar and accustomed to pooping on their stand, they'll fly over when they need to go. The last thing you can do to encourage your parrot do it's business on it's poopy perch is when you take it out first thing in the morning, put it down on it's perch and wait until it's goes. Most parrots hold it in at night and they have to go really bad in the morning and they try to avoid going in their cages. So, as soon as you take them out, put them right down on their poopy perch and let them go. And after they're done, you can pick them up and do your normal routine with them. This way, they learn to go to that designated place and to hold it in until you put them down and it's time to do it. So, that's some tips for you about potty training your parrot.

Check out the official app http://apple.co/1T1HOQK Watch more How to Play the Saxophone videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/512847-How-to-Do-Circular-Breathing-Saxophone-Lessons The concept of circular breathing is kind of a tricky one to explain. It's kind of like riding a bike in that when you know how to do it, you're going to know how to do it forever. It's quite tricky to actually get there. The concept basically in a nutshell is to form a pocket of air in your mouth, like that, and to close off your throat so you're not breathing. You're not connected to your lungs anymore. The air in your mouth is not connected to your lungs. And you just push it out like that. While you're doing that, you breathe in through your nose and refill your lungs. Sounds really tricky, but if you can slow down the time it takes for the pocket of air in your mouth the empty, it gives you more time to breath and start the air flow again smoothly. That gives you a good amount of time. The best way to practice this away from a didgeridoo is to sit yourself down with a scotch glass and a straw and some water, and just try to keep the bubbles consistent by doing that. That can go on forever. When we get to the saxophone, we take something that we already know like long tones and just try to keep the tone consistent. That's how you circular breathe.

Some cats also really enjoy having their tail head scratched right where their tail meets their spine. Things that cats don't generally like include scratching the belly although Fria doesn't mind it so much, but scratching the belly really not something most cats enjoy. Some cats are okay with you stroking them, but only a little bit. If you notice that your cat's tail starts to thrash when you're doing that, go back to scratching the head because that's again most cats favorites. Most people know this but most cats really don't like it when you touch their legs. You can see Fria's giving her head again because she'd much rather I scratch her there than touch her paws and of course, make sure that if you are stroking a cat, stroke the correct way which is from head to tail. Not from tail to head. Cats don't enjoy that. If you decide you want to do some massage then just move your fingers lightly in the areas that you know cats enjoy like the neck in little circles. That's how you can get started enjoying petting your cat without triggering them to be uncomfortable.

You want to be able to master ball handling, fundamental ball handling skills, fingertip control, because as a small guy, if you can get anywhere on the court with the basketball that you want, that'll make you an asset to your team. Secondly, you want to work on becoming as good a shooter as you can possibly be, because then that will give you an advantage to be able to score anywhere on the court. You don't want to be a small guy, and can't shoot the basketball, because now you're limiting your ability to help your team offensively. So if you can work on becoming a good shooter, from short-range, mid-range, and long-range, that will also enable you to be more of an asset to your team. Then finally basketball IQ. The shorter you are you want to have a high basketball IQ, because that will enable you to out think other opponents on the court. You want to be your teams quarterback, you want to be able to out think anybody on the court, you want to be able to understand coach's strategies. So now when you're on the court you can be an extension of your coach. So those three things again for small players, you want to be a great ball handler, a very good shooter and have a high basketball IQ.

I'm Charles Brunold from New York. I'm going to teach you how to do a Pratt Knot today. The Pratt Knot is also called a Shelby Knot. I have the particularity to start upside down. So, you start with the tie the wide end about 12" below the left of the narrow end. Here I'm going in with a pretty skinny tie. So, the knot we are going to obtain is not as wide and fluffy as the one you would obtain if you did it with a wider tie, obviously. So, this is how you proceed. Starting with the tie upside down, you go the wide end underneath the narrow end, over, inside and out, over the narrow end. Just pull it in front with the wide end in front. Bring it underneath and just slide it inside the loop. There you go. You've got a Pratt Knot. Just adjust the knot. Tighten it and adjust your collar. So, this knot, the Pratt Knot is very suitable for any type of dress shirt, any type of collars. But, here I like to wear it with like a skinny tie and a widespread collar like this one. Seeing the result is fantastic. So, this is how you tie the Pratt Knot.

Sea weed, rough side up, this is a half sea weed with your hand. And I'm going to do it inside out. Inside the roll is, rice is outside. Regular roll is sea weed is outside. This is one of knitting's most complicated fabrics to make, but it is one of the most rewarding also. As you can see it looks almost intricately woven. It's a very, very thick and squishy fabric. I'll be showing you on a size 13 with bulky yarn. This is normally a much bigger needle size than I would use to make fabric with this yarn. I would normally use a size 10 and this is herringbone on a size 10 with the same yarn. It's just way too packed in and way too dense. So when you're working herringbone, go up a few needle sizes. A few things to know about herringbone before we get started is that it's definitely a two row pattern, so you need to work the front and work the back in order to see what its going to look like. And you have to knit in for a couple inches before you can actually see a result. So here's what we're going to do. To begin you have to slip two stitches as if to knit. You're going to slip as if to knit and slip as if to knit, then you're going to insert the tip of your left hand needle into the front of both stitches and watch carefully first. You're going to wrap the yarn around and bring up a loop and then you're only going to drop off that first stitch. Leave the second one there. Then you're going to slip as if to purl and slip as if to knit, and then do the same thing. Insert the tip of the left needle into the front of both stitches and pull up a new loop. From them on out it's exactly the same thing. Drop one off, slip as if to knit, slip as if to purl, knit into the front of both stitches and only drop off the first loop. So don't forget that when you start a row, you have to slip as if to knit, slip as if to knit, but from then on out, slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit. This is not TV knitting, at least not at first. This is definitely something you have to pay attention to and keep your eyes on. Slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit, knit into the front of these stitches, and only take the first loop off. So here I am nearing the end of my row, I'm going to slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit. Knit two through the front, drop one off. Slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit, knit through the front with the left hand needle, drop the first one off, and there's one stitch left. You're going to knit it through the back loop. Then when you're on the back, you're going to purl two together, but only drop the first loop off. You might need your fingertips for that. Then repeat across the row. Purl two together, drop only the first loop off. Purl two together, drop only the first loop off. Continue going across the row that way and when you get to the very end, you'll have only one stitch left, and you will purl it. And that is how you get the beautiful herringbone stitch. Good luck and pay attention to it at first.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares seven tips about caring for a green iguana. Throughout the decades that reptiles have been popular pets, I think the number one seller probably has been the green iguana. Green iguanas hold the stigma from those old Japanese B movies, where they put an iguana across a model of Tokyo and pretended that he was Godzilla. Iguanas have fascinated Americans and have become the number one pet, for sure, over the last 20, 30 years. Personally, I don't think they make the best pets. And the reason why is because there is a lot of husbandry needed; these are tropical animals, they require the proper humidity and heat. They need ultraviolet lights, they need a specialized diet. But, really, it's because they sometimes have an attitude. When they get about 6 feet long, a male iguana suddenly isn't as calm as my little friend here. A male iguana will potentially turn on its owner, and establish its territory in the home. If it's in a fish tank, he's absolutely going to be upset. They really have to be outside in an 8 by 8 foot, 8 foot high room, sitting on a limb, looking down on their owner. And then they're perfectly fine pets. But if you want to keep them in a fish tank and approach them from the top, they sometimes get skittish. When they are skittish, the number one thing they do is whip their tail in your direction. The second thing they'll do is try to bite. And the third thing is rake you with their claws. Either one of those things is an event you don't want to experience, because a 6-foot iguana, this guy is about 2, maybe, a 6-foot iguana is a formidable creature that can inflict harm. We also have seen that male iguanas when they get old, when they become sexually mature, turn on their owners because they're territorial and want to establish their own area. And that is usually the time they end up coming back to the pet store, or back where they came from. If no one will take them back, people will let them go. And in northern climates, that's a death sentence for the animal. In southern climates, like Florida, they have procreated, and they have now established, and they are now truly an invasive species. So, I always say, if you want an iguana, please go get one. My choice for an iguana would be the rock iguanas. The rock iguanas are a big bodied creature that comes form the Caribbean Islands. And here I've got a good friend of mine, and the green iguana is scared of him, I would imagine so. This is Castro; he's a Cuban rock iguana. And you see Castro, who is now 15 years old, has a much different temperament than our green iguana friend. A 15 year old iguana would not be as tolerant to be touched in this nature. Castro is not trying to whip me with his tail, Castro is not trying to run away. He is a really sure of himself type of lizard who makes a wonderful pet or companion. We choose not to keep an animal this big in a cage, unless you build something custom for him. They freely can roam a home, and know where to do their business. They're straight herbivores; they love their veggies and fruits, and they really are an incredible companion and pet. We take him to the park and walk him like a dog all the time. So, if you're going to go for an iguana, think twice about the green types. There are some dessert species that are great, but the rock iguanas truly rock. Here's the Cuban iguana, Castro.

6 Care Tips for Chameleons | Pet Reptiles

Owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as difficult as you might think. However, Jungle Bob says a chameleon is one of the exceptions. In this video, he explains why. Chameleons are sought-after pets and I really have to interview people long and hard to make sure they know what they're getting into. Because of all the animals in the pet world, chameleons are certainly the hardest to stay alive. By nature, they're extremely skittish. You see this one doesn't want to be out in the limelight here he doesn't like the bright lights that are on him. He wants to be in a tree and he wants to hide. But that's not possible today, so he'll be okay for a few minutes. As a keeper, he needs a couple of things to keep him alive. First, they really don't do well in a glass enclosure. Chameleons like airflow so a screen is much better for them. A screened enclosure where the air can flow through is great. They can also grab on to the screen with their nails and climb all around, it which they can't do with glass. Worse than that, though, in order to keep them happy is they will need a water source to drink from and that is not a bowl. Chameleons like this do not drink from standing water. They drink drips. When it rains they drink as much water as they can. But the only other water they get is basically dew in the morning that will form on the leaves and will start to drip off of it. And we will often see them licking the leaves inside their enclosures to get their moisture. If we forgot to mist them and forget to put that moisture on, put a bowl of water and go away for three days, they will die of thirst. They do not know enough to go down to a standing body of water and take a drink. Some species yes, Veiled chameleons, no. So, you really have to be a diligent keeper and keep your animal watered as best as possible. There are a number of devices on the market to do that automatically. But there's nothing like an old plant Mister that you use with your hand to make sure your lizard is drinking every day. As they get to know you they will take it right out of the end of the bottle in order to get their much needed water source. Chameleons are really an advanced lizard keepers pet. You cannot be a beginner and keep a chameleon happy. They have very fragile legs and arms. They need to be totally camouflaged and have places to hide inside or they become very short-lived. Even in the best of conditions chameleons are not long-lived creatures. Some only a couple of years. Some, five, six, seven years is about as much as you're going to get as chameleon pet. So, a wonderful, "Wow, what is that?" type of animal, but extremely fragile and you have to think twice whether or not you want to buy a chameleon. Of all the chameleon species veiled chameleons are absolutely the most hearty. The males actually this beautiful crest on top of their hand. And they can actually be taught to eat out of your hand by holding the food item here. They'll shoot it out of your hand. He's a little bit too nervous to do it today, but he'll eat it right out of your hand and that's a wonderful thing to observe in captivity. So there's the veiled chameleon, one of the best chameleons on the market.

Speaker 2: Well, this is a confusing question because so many pet stores sell shampoo for animals. People will buy the shampoo because it looks so cute or if there's a picture of a rabbit on the front of the bottle so that must mean that rabbits need to be bathed. In fact, rabbits don't need to be bathed they are prodigious self groomers and they keep themselves immaculately clean. But every once in a while for a variety of a reasons a rabbit will get a really poopy butt and maybe because he's sick because he's having a digestive problem. It maybe because he's arthritic and he can't lean over to clean himself very well. Speaker 1: Overweight? Speaker 2: He's overweight. Yea, that's another reason why they can't lean over as well as before. And they'll get an accumulation on their butt and it's kind of a poopy butt that dries on it's butt and then you have give him what's called a butt bath. And what I use for a butt bath. Speaker 1: Because you don't want to pick it off with your fingers because you can pull the skin away Speaker 2: Skin off with him. Exactly. It's very painful for the rabbit. So what you want to do is get a small litter box like this, put a towel in the bottom of it, put a couple of inches of water in it, tepid water, warm water, not hot just warm, and then you're going to put your bunny in the water and we're going to do this as a dry bath, He doesn't need a butt bath so we're just going to do this as if he did. He knows he doesn't need a bath so he's stepping out so he's going to stay in this and when he's in you can pick him up like this. Just hold is front quarters out to keep him dry and you can use your hand to swish water all around his butt. Most rabbits are very comfortable doing this. You can keep swishing water around his butt and you'll be loosening up the dry poop. Speaker 1: So they're not sitting in water? Speaker 2: Just the butt. That's right. Just enough to cover the butt. Towel is to give him traction and enough water to cover the butt and the bottom feet. And that's it. Speaker 1: No soap? Speaker 2: You don't need soap. Some people use shampoo or pet shampoo. You don't need that. Just warm water is fine. And you use your finger nails and pick the stuff off, once its moist you'll be able to get it off easily. And then you take the bunny out onto a towel which we'll do here and most people like to use a hair dryer. It's a tedious process. Speaker 1: We did that one time. Speaker 2: With Dusty? Speaker 1: No, with the crazy lady. Speaker 2: Oh that's right I remember that house call that we did. We did a house call. Speaker 1: That's another video. Speaker 2:Yea. That's a whole other video. Speaker 1: Annette. Annette. Speaker 2: You're going to put the rabbit with his butt on the towel like this and you dry him as best you can. I like to also have a paper towel here because it's even more absorbent. And you just keep pressing the paper towel against its butt. And that will get him very very dry as dry as you can get without a hair dryer and then use a hair dryer set on low the lowest heat not on cold but the lowest heat and blow dry him until his butt is dry. You don't want any skin chaffing because it's moist. So that's how you give your bunny a butt bath. It's pretty easy and the bunny really appreciates it. You can tell that they like being clean. Usually as soon as their out of the bath they'll do their face and their ears and everything. Speaker 1: Oh. Okay. Speaker 2: So yea, it's not a hard thing to do. It's getting them dry is the trick. So get them as dry as you can and you'll protect their skin that way. Butt baths are fun!

A few, this one is called a Jersey Wally, this one is a Rex the grey one, this one is a Flemish Giant, this one is a New Zealand White and we have here a little buddy called a Lion Head and next to him is a Netherlands Dwarf. We actually DE-emphasize breeds when people are adopting bunnies we always tell them no matter how beautiful the rabbit, no matter how much you love the breed, the thing to pay attention to really is the personality. And I told Amy once that is kind of like when you are dating a guy that is just really gorgeous and you find out that the personality isn't there, you don't care about the looks after a while it is very, very interesting. I had somebody come into my apartment one time to adopt only a Lap rabbit. The Lap rabbits are the ones that have the down ears. We don't have a Lap rabbit here but they have the ears that go down like a Cocker Spaniels and this lady came in and she said she only wanted consider a Lap and I had a couple of Laps and she loved one of them and started righting the adoption papers to take him home. But every time she went by this other rabbits cage the rabbit would stick his head out and look at her and try to make eye contact with her and after a couple of minutes she said you know Mary I think this rabbits trying to tell me something . So I said I think he is too , why don't you put down the Lap ear rabbit and go over and talk to that rabbit. And long story short she did and ended up adopting that second rabbit and the rabbit was definitely reaching out to her. It wasn't a breed she was interested in but the personality was so out going and so affectionate and she just loved him to pieces. So, we always tell people look at the different breeds for sure, we get all breeds into shelters all the time but go by the personality. It is much more Speaker 2: But normally you wouldn't put a bunch of rabbits together like this because they always don't get along, right? Speaker 1: Thanks for saying that, this is a challenge to have all these rabbits together on the same table . We have male, male, next to each other female, female next to each other that's not an easy thing to do in the rabbit world. Were really careful about putting rabbits together and we're just doing this to give an idea of different breeds. We want to make sure that we stay safe here. Speaker 2: Wow. Speaker 1: We are keeping the rabbits from each other for that reason. Speaker 2: Look at all the different coats. Speaker 1: Look at all the hair flying in the air from all these different coats. Speaker 2: Rabbit breeds.

This game although its not an outstanding game, I am sure he is a pawn and it is quite fearful at the fact that he was playing the world champion or soon to be the world champion at the time. This game illustrates very clearly an important point which is that chess is not just about capturing pieces the name of the game is check mate, that's what we are trying to do check mate our opponent's king and prevent our king from being checkmated and will sacrifice our entire to that end. So from this position and never mind quite how we got here. queen to f7 check, the king only has one move d6 and now the series of sacrifices begin knight to c4, the pawn is cutting off the e5 and c5 so we have to take the knight and then knight to e4, the other knight jumps in check. The king only has one move d5. Now we introduce a new attacking piece the rook, it cannot be taken by the pawn which is pin by the queen so we are forcing black again to take, it could have taken the pawn as well but it take the more valuable knight. Now introduce again a new attacking weapon rook A to e1 check sacrificing pawn now white its in with c3 on check the king has one move d3 and now to end the game we have rook to d5 double check, bishop to f7 double check, checkmate and if we notice white's given up two knights, bishop at nine, ten, eleven twelve points worth a material has only captured five points a material while its the black king that's checkmated. So chess is not just about capturing pieces.

How Much to Raise | Poker Tutorials

Like these Gambling Lessons !!! Check out the official app http://apple.co/1HCxrup Watch more How to Play Poker videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/515011-How-Much-to-Raise-Poker-Tutorials Hey, I'm Nicky Numbers, Professional Poker Player, and I'm going to help you learn how to size your raises. The first thing you need to know about raising is when you can raise and when you can't because it's so common for people to confuse the terms "bet" and "raise". Pre-flop, there are blinds. Say in this example, the blinds are 25/50. Well, the minimum raise that you can make in pre-flop is twice the size of the big blind, also referred to as a 2X raise, where the X is a shorthand for the multiplication symbol. So 2X the big blind means two times the big blind. 2-1/2X the big blind is two and a half times the big blind. So here we have blinds of $25 and $50. If I were to raise to 3 times the big blind, I would make it 3 times $50 or $150. A standard raise pre-flop is anywhere from two big blinds all the way up to ten big blinds, depending on the game. However, it's very common to see raises of two big blinds, two and a half big blinds, even two and a quarter big blinds or three big blinds or four big blinds. Those are the amounts you're going to see the overwhelming majority of the time. The key is that when you're raising pre-flop, that you stick with an amount and you stay with it. So if I'm going to raise to $125 pre-flop, which is two and a half times the big blind, then I'm going to raise two and a half times the big blind consistently. That way I don't give my opponents any information. If I sometimes make it three times the big blind at $150, and then other times I only minimum raise and make it $100 and still make it other times I raise 4X and make it $200, well then I have differing raise sizes which means I'm going to fall into a pattern over time of raising certain amounts with certain kinds of hands. I may raise more with strong hands that I'm trying to protect or I may raise less with strong hands to try to get action. But it's very common for people to fall into some kind of pattern where they play their strong hands a certain way and their weaker hands a different way. This pattern can be exploited by your opponents. So what I strongly encourage you to do is to raise a consistent amount every single time, whatever the multiple of the big blind might be. On the flop, turn, and river, it works a little bit differently because there are no blinds which are forced bets so now your opponent would have had to make a bet first in order for you to have an opportunity to raise, and you can't control their bet amount so it's not a known entity like with the blinds. That means that you're going to have to act with regard of the size of their bet. Your opponents will typically be betting based on the size of the pot, somewhere between half the pot, all the way up to the full pot. And when you raise them, I strongly suggest your raise three times whatever their previous total wager was. So let's say you have a pot with $475 in it. And your opponent makes a bet, and let's say they bet $300. Well, if they bet $300, raising 3 times that amount would be three times $300 or $900. So if I was going to raise this $300, I would make it $900. A raise post-flop of three times your opponent's previous total wager is going to be very effective at putting them to a meaningful decision. Sometimes there may be situations where you're raising more, and there may be situations where you're raising less, as far as a multiple of their bet. The key is that you're consistent, so you can prevent your opponents from attaining information from you about your hand based on the way you bet or raise.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares four tips about caring for a pixie frog. A lot of people come in to buy pets, they want that wow factor pet, and they're looking for a frog that's easy to keep while often pointing to a Pixie or a South African bullfrog. I do that because, I do it with a smirk on my face, because I'm going to see them a lot in the future, because these little guys here do one thing well, and that's eat. There's a misnomer in the amphibian world, and that is frogs eat nothing but flies. We often see pictures in kid's books and frogs smiling happily, shooting flies out of the air with their elongated tongues This is not true. Frogs are predators, frogs have teeth in their mouth, and they'll just about anything. And a little, baby Pixie frog like this, in about a year or two, will turn into a monster like this. Everybody, meet Jabba, we call him Jabba, the African Bullfrog. The African bullfrog, or Pixie frog, is a true predator, that will eat just about anything that gets in front of him. We've seen him eat fish, we've seen him pick birds that fell out of their nest. Once in a while, he'll eat a snake, a lizard, anything that he can get his formidable mouth on, he will grab. He does not shoot his tongue, that's a mistake. People think frogs shoot their tongues way up into the air to catch flies that go by. You think Jabba is living on flies here? No, flies are really hard to catch for an animal his size, and we'd have to feed him a thousand of them a day to maintain that body weight. So, instead, he sits there, burns no calories, and waits for food to be deposited. So, therefore, if he's in a terrarium, wow, what a great animal, because no matter what you drop in front of him, he's going to make a meal out of it. It's extremely animated and a lot of fun to watch, and the variety of foods, anything you could find, even something you find outside in the garden, you drop in front of Jabba and down the chute it goes. So, the African bullfrog is a wonder of the pet world these days. You need a pretty good size tank for a guy this big, they will get 2/12 to 3 pounds in size. The African bullfrog.

I'm Chris Cardone, and I'm going to teach you how to do a palm spin. It's a really, really simple move. It's something that you do all the time at your house with an empty beer bottle or a remote control. So, we're going to do it with a glass. We could do it with a tin. The concept is to just spin the item on your palm. Now, the most important part of this is to spin it on the ball of your palm, not your fingertips and not the end of your palm, but right on the middle of your palm. Right in the juicy spot. You're going to basically bring your item that you're spinning, in this case a highball glass, we're going to turn it in toward our body, and then we're going to release it, kind of like you release a Frisbee out. We're going to let it spin. Now, the problem that most people have when learning how to do this is they only do a 180 because their thumb gets in the way as they spin it, and they can't get it all the way around. So, the concept and the most important part of this is to actually open your hand and not let your thumb get in the way. So, you release, you spin, and then you squeeze when it gets all the way around for 360 degrees. So again, a palm spin is just you invert your hand, release, let it spin out, and squeeze at the point where a 360 comes around. So we turn like this. You can do it with a tin. You can do it with your glass. You can pretty much do it with anything behind the bar, with the exception of a bottle. The reason being that when you spin your bottle, the liquid inside is going to spill out of the top when you get to that point. It will either spray across you, making you look silly, or it will spray across your guests, and they're not going to be too happy about that. So, you want to always use a glass, a tin, or something that doesn't have liquid inside it. You're going to take your glass. You're going to spin it, and that's how you do a palm spin.

We're going to teach you a couple of them. The first one we're going to talk about is the bachata heel break. So we're going to put out our heels, on the fours and the eights. Five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. The idea behind the heel is to make sure that your heel is nice and sharp on that break, just as if you were doing a tap. Daniela: And ladies, make sure when you do your heel tap forward, you have your legs closed. We don't want to do one, two, three, heel, okay? It's right in front of you. Edwin: Now for the next break, this one is a tap in the back. We're going to use the toe to either tap across or behind. We're going to show you different ways, so make sure you that you explore however you feel more comfortable. Five, six, seven and one, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap. Five, six, seven, tap. That's going to be the tap behind. Remember you can put it right behind you or you can send it across, depending on how you feel. Make sure you do it with confidence and smooth. The next break is going to be the scoop. The scoop is going to be picking up your foot. Gentlemen, what we're going to do is just lift it up, like this. Daniela: And ladies, we're going to scoop up, so as soon as your toe hits the floor that's when you bring it up. Make sure you don't kick it out. Edwin: Let's try it. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three, up, five, six, seven, up. One, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up and one, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up. Now for those of you who are interested in getting better as performers, make sure that you always point your feet down. If you keep your feet like this, of course it's an option, but make sure that if you want to develop good habits, always point your feet down. Now we're going to do the last one, which is the shuffle behind. This one is a little bit more complicated, so I want you to pay attention slowly. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven, shuffle one, two, three, shuffle five, six, seven and shuffle. So what's happening here is we're going to take three steps one, two and three. On the fourth step we're going to quickly alternate our feet, right/left, and then continue to the right for five, six, seven. And do the same thing on the other side, left/right. Let's try it a little bit faster. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle. Five, six, seven, one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven shuffle one. Now let's demonstrate all these breaks with music, so here we have the heel, then we have the tap behind and remember, you can cross it behind or send it straight back, depending on your choice. The next one is the scoop and gentlemen, of course you can scoop as well, gentlemen. But for us it's more natural to just bring the knee up. And the last one is the shuffle behind. Shuffle, one and those are your bachata breaks.

I'm with Chess NYC, and I'm going to talk to you today about pawn structures. While there are multiple pawn structures that are very important to know, there are five basics that are "need-to-know". So, let's start off with the pawn chain. To begin, we have what's called a pawn chain: we have a diagonal set of pawns; each pawn in this pawn chain is protecting one another. This is extremely important in terms of creating an attack. You always want to have your pawn chain directed towards the king. If the king is castled over on this side of the board, this is where you want your pawn structure going, instead of having your pawn chain running off the side of the board. Not so happy. Additionally, the top pawn is the strongest pawn in the pawn chain, the bottom is the weakest. If you're playing on black, you want to attack the bottom of the pawn chain. The idea behind the pawn chain is that it controls a lot of space and it's going toward the king, creating an attack. Another important pawn structure that is a need-to-know is called "double pawns". Double pawns have both good and bad elements to them. One element that is very good about double pawns is they control a lot of space. Double pawns can control up to five squares - one, two, three, four, five. In chess, we want to control space. Double pawns can control a lot of space. However, there is a weakness to double pawns. This pawn right back here is not protected by any other pawns, therefore this pawn is considered weak. Additionally, this pawn is also considered "stuck in traffic," meaning it can't move unless the pawn in front of it moves first. Another important pawn structure that we need to know is called the "isolated pawn", or "lonely pawn". This is not a favorable pawn structure. This pawn is sitting all by itself. When we have a pawn that's like this sometimes we have to have a queen or another, bigger piece defending and babysitting this pawn. I don't want my queen babysitting an isolated pawn. I want my pieces going ahead and making checkmate, and not defending an isolated pawn. This pawn is considered a weakness, and it is easy for black to attack. An even more unfavorable pawn position is "double isolated pawns". Additionally, these two pawns are extremely weak. Neither one of them can protect one another. This pawn is also considered stuck in traffic. It cannot move forward unless the pawn in front of it moves forward, and these are relatively hard to defend. A bishop cannot defend both of these pawns at the same time. A knight can also not defend both of these pawns at the same time. It's also hard, unless a rook is in between them, to defend them at the same time. We have to use a queen or a king to defend the two pawns at the same time. However, the last pawn structure I want to talk about is called a "passed pawn". Passed pawn is one of the most important pawn structures that we need to know, because this pawn is on its way to becoming a queen. A passed pawn is a pawn that has passed all of your enemy's pawns and is on its way to becoming a queen - by getting to the end of the board - or any other piece that you choose. When you have passed pawn, it is very important to sit and babysit this pawn. So therefore you can get it to the end of the board and it can become a queen or any other piece that you choose. And that is all I have to tell you about important pawn structures.

And, believe it or not, many parrots don't actually know how to fly because they've been clipped at some point in their lives. Sometimes when you get a parrot as a baby, it has very little flying experience. But, at that point, even in the wild, parrots have to learn to fly; it's not instinctive to them. So, parrots that have never had the chance to fly before, when their feathers regrow and they're no longer clipped, they actually need to learn how to fly around. So, I have developed this two-perch training technique with two of the Parrot Wizard training perches and you can use that to teach your reluctant parrot how to fly. So, we'll start by targeting the bird form perch to perch. Good. Perch wood target. Now, this is an easy step in terms. I'm going to just spread that distance a little bit and make him work a little harder at stepping across the gap. That's good. Target. Good boy. Target. Now, spread the gap just a little bit further. The goal is to make the gap just big enough that he has to take a big step or a hop to get across. That's good. As your parrot learns how to start hopping the gap, he might fall and get a little bit unbalanced in the process. It's going to make him throw his wings out and he's going to have to actually learn how to fly a little bit across the short distance. So, I'm going to bring that back just a bit and show you how the big, big step works. Okay. Target. So, you go from a big step to a little flight. Good. Then, you just keep practicing the process. Don't forget that your parrot is actually learning to fly in this process. Also, your parrot is working it's flight muscles. Your parrot's muscles may be atrophied if it hasn't flown a lot in the past. So, by doing these exercises your actually not only teaching it how to fly; you're also exercising it to fly. Target. Good boy. Very good. Truman, target. Good boy. Target. Good job. Very good, Truman. Now, the next step is teaching your parrot to fly to you, not just between stands. So, the beginning stands are good because they're sturdy and reliable and your parrot can stay on them. But then you want to teach the bird to fly to you, that point you can get rid of the second stand and teach it to fly to your hand. At first, I'm going to use my other hand in front of the stand to trick it to keep doing what it was doing before, which is flying from stand to stand. Instead, now I'm having it fly to my hand in the process. Truman, target. He's doing it to my hand as he was doing it to the stand. We're going to try that again. Target. That's good. Very good, Truman. Good job. For the first few times, to teach the bird to go to your hand, you just have him fly from to stands to the palm of your hand and he learns to come to your hand. Once he's learned that, we can get rid of that second stand altogether and teach him to fly to your hand as the target. Target. Good boy. And now you can teach your bird how to fly back. Finally, you can take these skills to the very maximum and teach your bird to fly by command. I like to call a parrot's name since I have more than just one, so that each bird knows their call by name. So, only the bird that I call flies to me when I call their name. Truman. Good boy, Truman. Very good. Come get a perch. Good job. By teaching the command for it to fly to me, which is their name, then I save a perch for them to fly back. Truman. Good boy. That's how you teach a parrot to fly.

And it's simple but it's just getting into the groove of it. I's pretty much a two step, with an up and down motion adding your arms. So let's just start with a two step. And the we're going to add on another layer, and then another layer, until you're doing the Dougie. You ready? So we're going to start stepping. Out together. Out together. Out together. Out together. If you're doing that you're good. From here we're going to add an up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, if you're doing that you're really doing good. Now what we're going to do here is add a head motion that goes with it. So every time you go to the side you go up and over with it. Think of pointing your head, in that direction. Up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down. Now we're going to add a different rhythm, single, single, double. And single, single, double, with the feet, we go single, single, double, and single, single, double. That's an up, down, up, down, up, down, double time. Up, down, up, down, up, down, double time. If you have this rhythm that's the basics of the Dougie. Now we're going to add some arms to it. So when you're doing the arms for the Dougie, when you step out the opposite arm is going to roll in. Up, down, up, down, up, down. Up, down, up, down, up, down. Make sure that your body's going up and down. Now from here let's add our single, single, double. Here we go, we have single, single, double. And single, single, double. And single, single, double. And single, single, double. And you can Dougie with a partner, and make it even more fun. Here we go. Single, single, double. And single, single, double. Single, single, double. And single, single, double... And that's the Dougie.

Sugar gliders require a lot of socialization, a lot of time commitment and a lot of handling to ensure that they become very social, very used to humans and handling. And to ensure that they don't become aggressive, nervous, or become biters. One of the biggest concerns with some sugar gliders is they can become somewhat pinchy, somewhat nervous and become easily stressed. So bonding with them is very important. The commitment when you get a sugar to spending a lot of time with them. To handling them, touching them. To having them get used to you. Having them get used to the environment they're going to live in. The sounds, the surroundings and everything that relates to the future home they'll have are vitally important. One of the most important things for sugar gliders is that they have a pouch as you can see the one here. Sugar gliders naturally will adapt to and have a desire to want to climb into and be kept in pouches. These type of pouches are commercially available or they can be made. And people often have numerous ones in different styles and colors to house and keep their sugar gliders in. These are a great way to transport them to the veterinarian. These are excellent for carrying them around the house while you're bonding with them and getting them used to being handled and touched. And they're also great to have modifications in their cage. When you're setting up the cage, you want to have a number of different types of small pouches, small bags, sleep sacks, hammocks. Any of those type of things that help the sugar glider feel a lot more secure. And by feeling more secure in the home it means they're going to be more social, less likely to be fearful and stressed as a pet and allow you to have a stronger and more fulfilling bond with your pet. So be sure to devote a lot of time, a lot of effort. And be sure that you get a sugar glider at the appropriate size and age so that you have enough time to bond with them, to socialize them and make sure they become a highly desirable and enjoyable pet.

Well, they're wrong. If you know what motivates your cat, you can train it. Now, training with Fria today is going to be a little difficult because she's pretty snooty, but I'm just going to see if she has a reaction to her favorite treat bag. That can be a great place to start for coming when called. Many cats know the sound of their treat bag and get excited right off the bat when they hear it. So, let's just see if she wakes up. Oh, suddenly we're interested. Well, it's not an ideal time to practice coming when called. It is a good time to reinforce the association that hearing the treat bag means good things. Now, many cat owners already know about the treat bag effect, but what they don't know is that it's really easy to capitalize on it to teach your cat to come when called. The way to do that is to pair your cat's name with a treat. The great news is since your cat knows the sound of a treat bag or a treat canister, you can build on an already strong association. So, in this case, you might say your cat's name and then give them a treat. So, I'll go like this. Fria and then I crinkle the bag which means a treat is coming and then I give her one. Now first, when you're starting this you want to start right by your cat because they don't really know what you're trying to do. Start at a place where cat and you are most likely to be successful. So, rinse and repeat. Fria, crinkle, crinkle and then give a treat. Now, when you're ready to start working on coming when called you can begin working from a distance. I'm not going to do this with Fria today because she might walk right off the table if she happened to get up, but what you would do is the same type of behavior. Say the cat's name, crinkle the bag and as soon as they come over give a treat. Eventually, the name that you give your cat for this exercise will become as powerful as the treat bag and you'll see that when you give the sound of your cat's name that your cat comes running for that treat. Over time you can stop using food and use scratches or other positive attention that your cat enjoys as a reinforcer. Just remember that it's not normal for cats to come when called in the wild, so it's definitely a behavior that's worth paying for. That's how you teach your cat to come when called.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares tips about caring for a Chinese water dragon. Another popular lizard in the pet trade these days is the Chinese Water Dragon. And we say that because I call him the poor man's iguana. Not that he's that much less expensive than an iguana, it's just that it makes a better pet. And it's often mistaken for an iguana because it's green, it's got that long tail, and if you're not in the know, it almost looks like one. But really, it's a lot different. It's got that beautiful mark through its back of its eye. The males have this beautiful crest on the top that will get bigger and bigger as it gets older. It just needs a fairly good size terrarium. Chinese Water Dragons are skittish little animals that in nature, again, will hang over a limb to escape their prey. They like to do that in a terrarium, too. You need a good size water bowl, if not a little pond inside the enclosure in order to keep them happy. They love insects and small mice as their prey. But their skittish nature, again in nature, they'll dive off the limb and go under the water, but in your terrarium they can't do that because it's glass there. So, oftentimes you'll see Chinese Water Dragons that are in an insufficient enclosure with a damaged nose because they literally slam into the side of the glass in their attempt to escape from you. Long-term captives eventually figure out that you're not going to harm them. They'll calm down like this little guy is here. He's an older one and he just gets extremely calm and becomes a nice companion animal you can take out and show off. Still, if startled, he's gone. They're very, very quick animals when they want to be and you have to be careful. I know many friends of mine who have these and they use a small harness or a leash to keep them under control because once they go, they're gone. They're extremely fast. But it's a way better animal to keep in captivity than their counterparts from South America or Central America, the Green Iguana. Chinese Water Dragon is gaining in popularity, that's for sure. A beautiful, beautiful animal that's a fun thing to keep.

It boils down to puppies being just young and energetic and not having an outlet for it. Especially before they have had all their vaccines and can go outside and play with dogs and explore their environment, they have a tendency to get really kind of antsy, and they'll go to sleep. They sleep half the day if you're at work. Then you come home. They play with you for a few hours, and then you expect them to go back to sleep and sleep through the night. It's very difficult for them. Making sure that they have a lot of stimulation throughout the day and a lot of exercise before bed. There are ways to exercise your dog even if you can't leave the house, if the puppy's too young to go outside. Find activities. If you teach them to come when called, then you can practice back and forth through the house with other family members so the dog is running from the living room to the bedroom and back. You can also do training circuits with the dog, where it's come, sit, stay, down, stay. Obviously this requires some basic training, but it's a great way to stimulate the dog's brain mentally and also get the dog moving and physically active. Replacing all meals, instead of giving the dog it's meals out of a dog dish, a traditional dog food bowl, I would give it frozen inside hollow bleached bones or Kongs or other stuff-able teething toys that they sell for dogs, things like Kongs, hollow bones, and the like. Now things like that are going to keep the dogs mentally and physically active even at times that they would normally be sleeping, like these guys. But if you are expecting the dog to sleep through the night, you have to make sure that you're giving the dog plenty of stimulation and activity. The dog should be comfortable in the bed and its crate. And sometimes covering the crate up so that it minimizes noise and light so that the dog has a little den will sometimes help the dog to sleep through the night a little bit more soundly. Also, if you're dog's getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, you might want to limit water before bed. You could talk to your vet. Certain breeds have different requirements, but for the most part if the dog is loaded full of water and then you're putting a dog with a full bladder or a full bowel in bed, it's going to wake up in the night to use the bathroom. So be sure that you have the dog going to sleep with an empty bladder, who's tired and fulfilled from its busy day. And that would be some advice on how to keep your puppy from crying at night.

And handling the ball with speed is good because it makes it more difficult for the defender to steal the ball from you. So right now we'll walk through a couple of quick drills that we use on a regular basis that help us to handle the ball faster. First ting we want to do is work on a particular drill and then you want to try to go for speed in it. Right now we have one of our coaches, Jerry, who's gonna time us on these particular drills. Right now Sammy will go for 15 seconds and what'll we'll do right now is he's gonna do his first set for 15 seconds and then we'll have him do a second set to see if he can increase his speed as far ball handling. So right now, Sammy will get nice and low. He's gonna cross over and go behind his back. Every time the ball gets to his right hand, he's gonna count the rep. So I'll count for him right now. Jerry when you tell me to go, we'll go. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Alright. So Sammy did eight in 15 seconds. So now he has a goal where every time he works out he has a point of emphasis in the base as far as trying to exceed his time. Now I'll try to do something a little bit more advanced with the advanced ball handlers. And remember, everything that we do I'm gonna try to do with my eyes closed and head up. Jerry'll give me 30 seconds on this. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, I lose it, I come right back. Eyes closed, chin up. Six. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright? So I got to about six and a half. So right now we'll have Sammy finish up to see if he can do it any faster than he did his first set. So again Sammy will have his eyes closed, chin up. He'll get low. Eight is his number to beat. 15 seconds. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright. So you see? Now, Sammy worked on his ball handling. He was able to get ten. Those are the types of drills that you can do on a regular basis in order to be come a faster ball handler.

Speaker 2: Friends. A lot of people ask if it's a good idea to get a friend for their pet rabbit. We love when people get friends for their pet rabbits because rabbits are social animals who live in social groups in nature and they really enjoy the companionship of their own species. It's not so easy however to introduce rabbits and a lot of people have disastrous results and they call us after the fact instead of asking for advice beforehand and what happens is, they go to the pet store and they say, you know, "I have a female rabbit and I want to get a friend for the rabbit" and the pet store will say "Well, put the rabbit with another female, that way you won't have litters or whatever" and they sell the person what's supposed to be a female, it ends up being a male, the people have a litter a month later, so that's one possible ending. Another possible ending is they give them another female and the rabbits just don't get along and the person has no idea how to change this situation. So what we tell people when they want to introduce their rabbit to a friend is first of all, both rabbits need to be spayed and neutered so that they cannot reproduce and so that the hormones that drive them to reproduce will not be affecting their behavior when they're together. And what we do when we're introducing rabbits is house them side by side for a couple of weeks. In side by side pens with just enough air in between that they can't touch each other through the pens. And then we slowly introduce them and we do it by putting them in a constricted area and we wear shoes on our hands, tennis shoes on our hands. And we keep the rabbits from any kind of aggressive behavior and the minute they show any sign of aggression we plunge our hands down with the shoes on them to separate the rabbits. That way we don't get bitten, the rabbits don't get hurt, it's very easy. This is a bonded pair here now. These rabbits have been living together for a couple of years. This is a little Lion Head and this is a little Netherlands Dwarf. They're good buddies, bonded rabbits will huddle together, they'll eat together, they often do something called mirroring behavior where one rabbit will sit up and shake his hands and start to groom himself and the other rabbit will then sit up and shake his little paws and start to groom himself. Speaker 1: Copy cats. Speaker 2: Copy cats, copy rabbits, copy buns. And you'll see that in a bonded pair. It's really fun to have a bonded pair because you see behaviors that you don't see with single rabbits. One thing that really interests me is that even in the heat of the summer, these rabbits will lie together body to body, tight as can be when it's 90 degrees outside, they'll push their little bodies against one another in that heat and it doesn't bother them at all. They would much rather have the company of a bunny... Speaker 1: Oh, really? Speaker 2: ...than the coolness of separation. Yeah, it's really very touching to watch, actually. Speaker 1: You do have to consider that it's double the cost, right? I mean, it's... Speaker 2: It is double the cost. It's not double the space. Speaker 1: No, but the veterinary, I mean if you take them to the vet. Speaker 2: That's right. That's right. Speaker 1: The carriers, it's just more, but... Speaker 2: Well, not more carriers. If you take them to the vet you should be able to take them in one carrier. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 2: But the vet bills, the vet bills for sure, that's a big consideration. Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Speaker 2: If one gets sick, they're in contact with the other one, the other one is likely to get sick too, you may end up with two vet bills. So you do have to pay attention. Speaker 1: Double trouble, that's what I way. Double trouble. Speaker 2: On the other hand, when they have companionship of their own species, they're more relaxed an

Would you help me out with this card trick? Ann: Sure. Ben: Great. Go ahead and pick any card you'd like. I won't look. All right. Would you do me a favor, just take a look at it. Look at it, look at the camera. Show it to the camera. Memorize it. Picture it. Every detail. Do you have it? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Excellent. Put it right there on top. I'll shuffle it up into the deck. Do me a favor, Ann. Would you hold out your hand, just like that for me? Good. I want you to pinch the deck, just like that. Just like that with your knuckles. Good. And I just want you to hold on to the deck. Not too hard. Try not to let go, though. You don't have to hold it too hard. You can let your thumb go. Just, yeah, just hold it just like that for me. Okay? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Nice and square. Hold on. Square up the deck. Good? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Good. Just like that. Are you ready? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: I want you to just picture your card, all right. Really focus on it. I'm not going to do anything to you surprising. I'm not gonna try to. Ann: Wow. Ben: Didn't mean to shock you there. Ann: Amazing. Ben: This is actually, this is probably one of the most impressive effects you can do with not all that much complicated slight. First thing you have to do is you actually have get the card to the bottom of the deck. If you'll remember when Ann drew a card, I actually just had her place it right back on top. Show it to the camera real quick, four of spades. Now, using the overhand shuffle control, I'm actually able to guarantee that the four of spades will end up right back on the bottom of the deck. Once it's on the bottom of the deck, you're pretty much good to go. You ask them to hold their fingers. You ask them basically to take the deck from you the same way that you're holding it. That's a good way to get them to take it in the same position without kind of, you know, readjusting their fingers. So do me a favor, just take it just like I'm holding it. Perfect. Now, believe it or not, just a confident smack onto the deck will pretty much knock all the cards out of her hand except for the last one. Ann, I didn't tell you what was going to happen. You did not know that that was going to happen. That card just happened to be in your hand after the slap. That card and that card alone. Correct? By being timid with the smack, what's going to happen is you're actually not going to hit all the cards out. They're only going to slide about half of them down. And then she's going to be left with a third of the deck, or a half of the deck, or a fourth of the deck, whatever, and you're going to have to keep smacking. So basically what's happening with the smack here is, as I'm smacking down on the deck, you really want to make sure you're getting a really good downward motion because that's going to cause all the cards to slide, literally, off of the bottom one. And Ann, she's already told us she did not know to prepare for this. She was not trying to hold on to that card. She didn't even know I was going to slap them. But the slap really does work. And it's a great effect. It's very impressive to the spectator when they're left with their card staring them in the face.

How to Make a Box Joint | Woodworking

Watch more Learn Woodworking videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500377-How-to-Make-a-Box-Joint-Woodworking Box joint is second only to dovetails, in terms of the amount of glue area you get. And it's great for, that makes it great for drawers or anything that's going to get a lot of force put on it. So, the idea behind box joint, though, is, you can see, is it's equal parts are taken out of each face of the wood. And so, you get this tabbed, slot design. So, cutting these is usually done on a table saw or a router, where you're removing a square chunk each time you make one of these. And the only hard part about it is keeping track of which boards go with which. Because the mating piece is offset by one tooth. So, keeping track of the pieces is the hard part. Actually cutting it, pretty easy. And, to do that we have the dado blades. What we do is we're going to run these pieces of wood through the dado blade and space them out so that they come out evenly. Now, there's a trick to doing this and that's what I'm going to show you here. We've added an extra piece of wood here on the fence. It's going to become our jig to make this joint. But, the first step in doing this is we have to set the blade height. And, the blade height for cutting out these notches. We want pieces to be sticking out slightly after they are glued up so that we can plane them down. And, in order to do that we have to set the saw blade slightly above the thickness of the wood. So that's what I'm doing now. I'm going to raise the blade up and just get it just above, a hair above, the top of this wood. Okay. Now that we're set. First step is we don't even cut the wood, we're going to start making the jig. And we have to cut a slot in the jig at that height. So, we'll do that now. This piece of wood, that we just cut a slot in, is going to become our jig. Now, we're going to fit this part in here and that's going to become an index that we're going to key off of. So, you can see how it works on this already cut one. And basically, we're going to be setting of wood against that. And then we move it over every other cut. And, it positions the board in the right place to have the next slot cut. The first step in cutting is we've got to offset that by a thickness, another thickness of wood. And we'll lock that all down onto, onto the fence. Okay. Now we're ready to start cutting. And we can go. And now, we simply just take that, put it on top of the index and run the next one. Alright. Now we're ready to cut the mating piece. And there's only one extra step we have to do. And that is just to offset the piece by that amount of the board's thickness. So, we're putting this spacer in here to just set this board up. And now we can run it, start running through. Alright. Okay. We've done with both pieces. And now they just mate up pretty nicely when you push them together. So, here's the finished product. Your joints fit snugly together. There should be slightly proud of the surface that they're mating with so that you can just come across with a block plane and just shave them down.

5 Best Paintball Tips | Paintball

02:02
Watch more How to Play Paintball videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/497220-5-Best-Paintball-Tips-Paintball My name is Mike Peverill. I'm here at Pev's Paintball Park in Aldie, Virginia. I've been playing paintball nearly 30 years. I've played professional paintball with numerous pro teams all over the world. This facility here was built from the ground up for paintball, kind of like a paintball Disney Land. Our website is www.pevs.com. Hopefully you can come out and visit us sometime. A very popular question I get asked all the time is, ""Hey, I'm gonna go out and play paintball for the first time. You know, you've been playing for a long time. Give me your best tip."" And what I tell people, in all the years I've learned in playing paintball, professionally and on the circuit, and just for fun, is basically the first thing is always wear dark clothes. 'Cause when you're out there on a paintball field for fun, remember, the flashy orange colors, yellow colors, bright colors, even white sticks out, and makes yourself a target. I tell people to blend in. If you don't have camouflage clothing to wear, wear dark clothing. Wear long sleeves and long pants. And the other thing is, wear tennis shoes versus wearing boots. I see so many people come out wearing combat boots, and their feet start hurting them. Remember, think of paintball as a sport activity, not so much as real battle. So go plan to know that you're gonna be on your feet the whole time. And wear a good pair of comfortable tennis shoes or something of that nature. But wear dark colored shoes. I mean, even guys who come out wearing white tennis shoes, I mean, we look for those all the time. Guys run into the woods and say, "Hey, look at the guy's white shoes sticking out." So I tell everybody, the first thing you should always do is come out wearing dark clothes. The other thing is, when you're playing, play as a team. Find a buddy, get on the field, and remember, whatever you do, especially if it's your first time, don't run up the middle. Running up the middle allows yourself to be shot from both sides. A paintball field is like a chessboard. It's got boundaries. So it doesn't mean everyone can get around you, unless you go up the middle. So I tell everybody, get to the tape, work your way to the edge of the field. Work with a buddy team, so you can have some guy, someone to watch the inside, and someone to watch ahead of you, you know, you watch ahead of you, and you look both ways. But at the same time, cover the tapes and work yourself around. Most people always run into the middle. And when they run into the middle, they get shot from both angles.

So if you're a runner, you're moving in mostly sagittal plane, you have a lot of hip flexion going on, your quads are going to be tight. So let's start out with the quads. So you're going to take the roller, place it on the very top of the knee, get down to your forearms here and foam roll to the middle of the thigh, or the quad, all the way back to the top of the knee. I would stay here for about a minute focusing on the areas that are the tightest. So wherever you feel the most tender spots, the points of the most pain, that's where you want to focus on and stay on. Once you're done there, you'll take it from the middle all the way up to the hips. I'm doing two at once; you can also do one leg at a time that would look like this. We bend one leg, focus on the left and then the right. This I actually feel more pressure with. So if you want a deeper penetration I would definitely recommend you roll one leg at a time. Focusing on each muscle for about two minutes. So after you're done with the quad, as a runner, your hips are going to be tight. So definitely foam roll the ITB. So you're going to start out on the side, like you're going to get into a side plane. You're going start on the very top of the knee. You can bend one leg and you're going to roll to the middle of your IT band all the way back down to the side of the knee. This is an intense muscle, so you want to take your time and by bending this leg you're taking some pressure off of the muscle or of the band by applying your body weight much more. You're kind of splitting your body weight. If you want more pressure, you could always just stack your legs like that and that will be pretty intense. But again, this is a pretty painful one to roll, so just take your time and break it up. So after you're done rolling the bottom portion, you're going to take it from the middle and roll to the top of the hip. Spending about one minute, or two minutes, on each portion. I'm breaking the band and the quads up because the femur is usually pretty long. So you want to break it up. That will also insure that your alignment stays right. So as a runner, you also want to make sure you're going to roll your abductors. So you're going to place the roller just like this, you're externally going to rotate your leg and you're going to lie down on the roller, if you could come down to your forearms and you're just going to roll to the middle of the thigh back to the bottom or the top of the knee. Just like that. And again, I'm splitting it up. I'm only rolling to the middle and to the top of the knee. One minute there, you're going to take the roller start in the middle and then you're going to roll all the way to the top of the groin. The abductor isn't often neglected muscle to foam roll but it's very tight on most runners so you definitely want to make sure you get it. So the last important muscle I would say for most of my runners to roll are your glutes. So you want to make sure you start out rolling the glute medius which is the outer portion of your butt. You could lean to one side. Go toward the middle, focusing more on your glute max, and then you would switch sides completely. And roll the right side, glute med. And then the middle which is the glute max. Spending again, one to two minutes on each muscle group. I would spend one to two minutes on the left and one to two minutes on the right. And those are the most effective muscles to roll if you're a runner.

I'm tied in as a climber, Chaz is clipped in here is the belayer, we've already done our safety checks, I'm ready to start, and while I'm climbing, I'm going to give you five tips for how to lead climb, and how to do so effectively and efficiently. One good tip is before you start climbing, to take some time and really try to identify the route. What I mean by that is to try to look for critical spots on the route where maybe you'll get a good rest or maybe some difficult cliffs. You'll notice another tip is that when you're clipping, you want to be doing so from a balanced position with a straight arm. Having these straight arms to make those cliffs is a great way to conserve energy. As I move up a little farther, you'll notice my arm still stays straight clipping. I'm making that clip with a straight arm, and at this point, I'm pretty comfortable, I've good footholds, and I'm on a big jump hold, so I can shake out my arms a little bit to try to get some of that lactic acid out of there. I'll do the same with my other arm. This type of move, shaking out, can really help you to recover while you're climbing. Another pointer is when to chalk up. So right now if I'm moving into a difficult sequence, I might want to chalk up before I go through it, so timing your chalk ups, when to do it, how often to do it, is something you want to consider. So, on a similar note, while timing your chalking up, to make sure you're not doing it excessively, but just kind of as needed, a good idea is to try to identify a crux of the route, which is the most difficult section, or where you expect to have the most trouble, and rather than stopping in the middle to chalk up, or maybe try to make a clip from an awkward position, try to push through that crux, identify the sequence, chalk, prepare yourself, get a good rest and shake out, and move straight through that crux Another tip would be that while I'm climbing, if I'm so scared of falling the whole time, it's going to make me over grip, which means squeezing a lot harder than I need to be, and putting a lot of weight on my arm that doesn't need to be there. I want to keep it on my feet. So a great tip for lead climbing, is to get comfortable falling. You're going to climb a whole lot better if you're not scared to fall. It'll also make it a lot easier to commit to some of those bigger moves. So those are some tips that are really good for lead climbing to help you move efficiently and effectively.

It feels scary. But here's the secret great speakers have. It doesn't matter if you love Ronald Reagan as a speaker, or Bill Clinton, or Tony Blair. All different speakers, different styles, different politics, but here's one thing they have in common. When they're speaking or were speaking to ten thousand people, or speaking to two people, they sounded exactly the same. So, here's the big secret when it comes to talking to large audiences: don't change yourself. Because most of us, when we're speaking to one friend or two buddies at lunch, we're animated. We're engaging, we're telling stories, and we're giving examples. Our hands are moving. Our face is moving. We get in front of a large audience, and all the things we do that worked for us, all the things that were interesting that made us easy to listen to, we take that, we ball it up, and we throw it in the trash can. And we put on this fake persona, my fellow delegates it's an honor to be here today. We become stiff and we become wooden. Our voice goes flat. We tense up. We grab a lectern. All these things we do because we're scared. The problem is, as much as I love crutches, these crutches don't prop us up. They bring us down. They make us worse. So, you've got to simply tell yourself you're talking to one person. You've got to use that tone of voice. Because these days if you're speaking to a large room of people chances are you're going to have a microphone, so you don't have to speak like this because that's really annoying. You speak in a conversational tone of voice. Here's the other trick: your eye contact. What a lot of people do is they're like this the whole time. They may be moving, but they have this glazed look in their eye. You don't want to do that. Or, they just zoom in here, zoom in here, and here. It's too mechanical. What you want to do is just look at one spot. Ideally, if you can see people, look at one person for a full thought. That's only five seconds or so. Go to another person in a different part of the audience. Pretend you're having a one on one conversation with that person for a full thought. And mix it up. That will make it more relaxing for you. You'll sound like you're talking to one person. And it'll keep your head from bouncing around and looking nervous and scared. The other final tip is, it's one of those things, the more you do it the easier it gets. Seek out opportunities to speak in front of large groups. Don't be one of these people that says, well I could speak to one person, or I can speak to two people, or I can speak sitting in a boardroom, but I'm not a public speaker so I can't. Baloney. If you've ever had one interesting conversation with one person in your entire life you already have all the skills you need to be a great public speaker in front of ten thousand people.

I'm going to talk to you today about the three principles to opening strategy. So when we get to the game we're always like, 'Uh, what do I do? There's so many pieces. I don't know how to start." Well I'm going to give you three steps that are going to help you create a strong, confident opening. First thing that we need to understand is these four center squares. These are considered a super square because this is where the center of the board is, the control center. For example, if I have my knight in the center of the board, my knight can control up to eight different squares, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. We can see that this is a very strong place for my knight. If I have my knight on the side of the board it can only control up to four squares, 1, 2, 3, 4. Therefore, my knight is stronger in the center whereas most pieces are stronger in the center of the board. So at the beginning of the game you want to think about center control. First thing we can try and do is get our pawns into the center. Very important to try to get our pawns to control the center. The next important step that we want to focus on is piece development. Now I like to think about my pieces as they are working for me. I want to give my pieces a job. If they're sitting back here they're not happy and they're not doing anything. So my next step is to bring my pieces out and have them working for me. Usually we bring out the knights before the bishops. So I can bring my knight to F-3 and my other knight to C-3 and then I'm bringing them towards the center. Notice how I did not bring my knight to H-3, that would not be a good choice. Towards the center. Next, I want to bring my bishops out, again towards the center controlling the center squares. The next step that we always want to consider is king safety, very important. I like to consider the king like a baby. The reason I consider the king a baby is because we always want to protect our babies just like we always want to protect our king. Therefore, the best way to protect your king at the beginning of the game is to castle. Now we have two places, two ways that we can castle. You can either castle on the king's side or on the queen's side. Right away I can see that I can castle on the king's side. To castle I move my king two spaces and then bring my rook to the other side and now my king is stuck behind a little fortress or, to keep with the theme of a baby, a crib and it is protected and safe. Just to review, the three important principles are controlling the center, piece development, and king safety. Those are the three things that we can do at the beginning of the game to go into the middle game confidently.

Now the forward flat just means an object going behind your back and not rotating. And the reason for this is that certain times you'll have a full bottle behind the bar that you can't rotate otherwise it'll spill so you have to use something flat. Now you could practice this with a tin and learn how to do a flat behind the back with a tin and then eventually you can graduate to a bottle. Now, obviously we wanna start with something that's unbreakable like a flair bottle and then we'll work our way into glass and then we'll work our way into full bottles. But the concept behind a flat is you take your bottle, you bring it around your back and you're gonna release it and push with your finger so that way it stays flat. So to look from behind it basically comes around, your release point is your opposite butt cheek and you push with your finger. And when you push with your finger it keeps the bottle from rotating and just keeps a flat behind the back. Once you get comfortable with a practice bottle you can then move into a little bit of liquid or an exhibition flare bottle where you bring it around your back and you do a flat toss to your other hand, like that and there's no spill. Now at some point you're gonna get comfortable that you can do this at work no matter where the setting of the bottle is because you're obviously at work when you're getting busy. You can't say, "Oh, let me do this trick with only bottles that are a quarter full". So you want to be able to do it with any bottle. No matter the weight change, it doesn't change the move at all. You come around your body. You get to your opposite butt cheek, you push with your finger and release and no drops come out of the bottle. It's a spill-less move. And that's a flat behind the back, coming around, catching it and then you pour it. And that is how you do a flat behind the back.

I'm Trudi Tapscott. Britt: And I'm Britt Bergmeister. Trudi: In order to get a modeling job, you need to go on a modeling casting and you need to go on an audition. What happens there? Britt: I mean, generally you go and meet the clients. Sometimes there will be a few girls there. Sometimes the wait will be five minutes. Sometimes there will be over 200 girls and the wait will be two, three hours. You've got to be open and you can't get frustrated. Bring a book. You're going to be waiting a long time. Bring water, bring snacks. Don't get frustrated. It'll come across when you meet the client, so just be happy. Be thankful that you have the opportunity to get a job and just show your happy, confident personality. Trudi: What happens? They ask you for your book or your first...? Britt: Generally, you'll walk in. They'll ask for your book and you hand them your book, maybe a comp card, and sometimes you'll have to take a picture or two just so they can remember how you were that day. Sometimes you'll have to introduce yourself to a video camera, and sometimes you'll have to walk. That's a big thing. You'll definitely have to walk. So, it depends on the client and what you're casting for, but generally they'll let you know. Just be prepared. Have your high-heel shoes. Have something that will show off your body. I usually wear black, something black and tight. So, yeah. That's generally what happens. Trudi: That's generally how it goes. Sometimes you're meeting one person. Sometimes you're meeting five. You walk into a table of five people. Britt: Yeah. Trudi: Sometimes everyone is in the same room. Sometimes you go in a separate room. I think that if the casting people have more than one person there, sometimes they talk amongst themselves or they talk about the pictures in your book. They ask you, "Who shot this?" or, "Who's the photographer?" It's really good for you to remember the names of the photographers that you shot with if they say, "Who shot this picture?" So, that information is good because if you don't know that answer then it doesn't make you look like the smartest model. Britt: Right. Trudi: So, you want to be able to know the information that they might ask in your book or, "Where did you shoot it?" Or, "When did you shoot it?" They're trying to get a conversation going, but there's not many questions they can ask you when they don't know you. They just want to kind of know things about your book. Then they might say things between themselves that are related to the job that might not make any sense to you and that might not have anything to do with you. So, you can't really let that effect you. It's not about how quickly they look through your book. They're fast. Especially in New York and Paris, and Milan, it's fast. They don't have a lot of time. Britt: Yeah. Trudi: So, the decision is made after. You're never going to know right then anyway, so it really doesn't matter. You just have to do the best you can, assume you're getting the job and walk out. That's pretty much what happens. Britt: They might not show any emotion at all. You can't take that as a no. They could be happy, they could be sad that day. They could be really annoyed. But just go in confidently and, hopefully, you'll get the job. Trudi: It's not your job to read them. Britt: No. Trudi: It's their job to read you. Britt: Exactly. Trudi: So, that's how it works.

This is "Billy Jean.” The intro, the very beginning, he starts this pose here. What you're going to is you're going to step in with your right, and then come here with your left. He does this pose in most of his music videos, but he uses this as the intro for this song. You're going to have a hat, too. Very important, get a hat. As long as you have a hat and shirt or a jacket that kind of flips over, you're good to go. Now, you have here. Make sure when you put the hat on, the fingers are spread so you have this, and then you're going to ping, put it down like you're getting ready, razzle dazzle. You're going to go one, two, three, and a four, five, six, seven, eight, and a two, two, three, four, five, six, and a seven, and an eight. Okay. Now, the next part of the intro. Prep your jump, now you're going to kick. You're going to go kick and you're going to tap that knee, so it's like bah. That's what creates the electricity in that kick. You got to tap it and pose it. Pah, roll, shoot out, bow, and then you're going to pelvic thrust, look. You're going to repeat the same thing. Step, kick, bow, roll, shoot out, sit, and make sure your hands are stylized right up in here. Shoot, look, cross, bow, jazz hands, boom. You're going to come out here, shwoop, ha. When you hear boom, the right is going to go behind the left or vice versa. However you want to learn it, your choice. Then switch, shwoop, mm-hm, grab your hat, shoo, and then flick it. So, you have, hold this for four at one, tick tick, two, tick tick, three tick tick, four, and a one, two, three, four, five, six, and a seven, and an eight, and two, two, three, four, five, and a six, and a seven, eight, prep, kick, roll, shoot, bow, hit. Prep, kick, roll, shoot, thrust. Look, swhoo, ha. Throw it. Take it off first, shwoo. And then, he gets ready. He smooths his hair. At the time, he had a nice little jerry curl going on, so he swooped it, ha, and then smoothed it again, shoo, ta, shwoom, step, and then, that's when he gets his microphone, shoo, and he starts singing.

It's a nice little flourish that you can do with pretty much any coin that fits your hand well. I'm using a little half dollar here because it's a little bit easier to see on camera, but you can do this with a quarter or, if you prefer, you can actually go up and use the big silver dollars. Those work too. But I prefer these. All you're doing is you're just rolling the coin. Right along your knuckles. Gravity kind of helps you along, just like that. We'll break it down now. You're going to want to start, you're going to want to find your coin right there and you're going to want to start with it pinched right there between your thumb and first finger. What's going to happen is you're actually going to just release it and it's just going to fall. You're going to want your hand in a fist like that. It's just going to fall right there onto your finger. Then what you're going to do is you're going to pick it up. You're literally going to use this... I'll turn it so you guys can see it a little bit better. You're going to want to use your second finger and pull so that it goes back vertically. Then you just let it fall again. Then, this is probably the hardest part of the move, you're going to use your third finger right here, and you're going to push up with your first finger. So my index is pushing up while my third finger is pulling down right there onto the vertical. And it falls just like that. Same with pinkie. And then once you're at the pinkie all you're going to do is you're going to flatten out your hand so you get this little ledge. You're going to pick it up with the print of your thumb and you're going to pass it right back. And that is how you roll a coin. Some quick pointers on this. What happens to a lot of people when they're starting out, and it happened to me as well, you kind of will have this tendency to flatten out your hand as you're rolling. It will make it a little easier. See how my fingers are kind of spreading? They're flattening out like that. You don't want to do that. You want to resist that urge. You want to keep your hand as much, I'll turn it this way so you can see, in a fist as possible while doing this move. It will actually help you a lot in the long run. Just like that. What I did that helped a lot, I actually started putting my hand, I noticed my friends were calling me out on it a lot, my fingers were coming out like that. I actually used my left hand as kind of a barrier until I stopped doing that, because it's a hard reflex to break. So start doing that, pick up a coin. I really recommend practicing on a couch or bed so you won't have that kind of mental fear of dropping it while you're walking around or dropping it on the floor. Because once that mental block is gone it actually gets a lot easier to do, because you're not worrying about it. So just while you're watching TV, next time you're on the couch, pick up a coin and just start rolling it.

How to Do a Brooklyn Accent | Accent Training

02:08
Watch more How to Do an Accent videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500483-How-to-Do-a-Brooklyn-Accent-Accent-Training Learn how to do a Brooklyn accent from voice and speech coach Andrea Caban in this Howcast video. [Background Music] There are so many different types of people who live in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is an amazing place because of that. So we're going to go for a very stereotypical, general Brooklyn accent. Just to give you a flavor of it. So you put your lip corners really far forward. And it's a very urban sound. You see? In my oral posture that my lips are doing a lot of the work. It's also fun to notice that the Brooklyn accent, where your lip corner's very far forward, is also very similar to that urban London sound. That cockney sound. So Saul's daughter studied law. You'll notice that it's a very similar shape in the mouth. Let's look at some sound changes for the Brooklyn accent. So there are no r's at the ends of some words. So like, there, player, flatter become theah, playah, flattah. And the ah sound in thought, dog, and law become a diphthong. So they become a two element sound. For thought, dog, law. Sometimes that th sound, thin, thick, this, that become very dentalized. So it's thin, thick, this, that. So you hear those hard, flat sounds. The back of the teeth. Thin. Thick. This. That. You start to hear the musicality of the accent. T's are very dentalized. So they're very pushed up against the teeth. So Tony takes his time becomes Tony takes his time. Do you hear the difference there? Tony takes his time, and Tony takes his time. The st sound in stretch becomes stretch. I love that one. So what's the musicality of this general Brooklyn accent? Well it's a very urban sound, like we'd said. It's got a lot of power to it. You use emphasis with volume, and less with pitch variety. But don't take my word for. Go listen to some native Brooklyn speakers, and let the accent reveal itself to you.

How to Draw a Monster | Graffiti Art

Watch more How to Do Graffiti Art videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/512058-How-to-Draw-a-Monster-Graffiti-Art Hi, I'm Paes 164. Now I am going to show you how to do a character. Once again, getting your base wall color down, I feel that black is a great color to start a character with, that way you kind of build up off your shadows. So I'm just going to do a little goofy little monster, something I might typically replace my E of my graffiti piece, so it'd be P-A, graffiti monster, S still representing my E. Let's go ahead and start off with the base shape of the monster and I'm going to use the same color that I'm going to paint my monster, a blue monster in for my sketching. Having that black as a background, as a base definitely eliminates spending a lot of time having to shade in all that black. You can just come in and see what I'm doing. I'm kind of just building this blue into the black and only as my base color. Doing some of the same flair techniques, as I've shown in the other videos. Kind of working my way all the way around the lip with this blue. Again, whether realistic or cartoonish the black really serves as a good base to fade into. I also came in with a little bit of a darker blue, but you can still see how I'm utilizing that black to build my shades up off of. I got these big bubbly eyes popping up. I'm going to go ahead and re-outline them white and color them in. Getting into your character it's definitely better to use thinner tips and outline tips. Like the graffiti piece itself where you're building up from a primer and building into it with the cuts and the fades and everything we talked about. Now I'm going to come in and also add a little bit of the background. Kind of the same type of landscape background that we worked on in other pieces, just by fading in my darker color purple. I'm using a little bit of a fatter tip. That way you get a nice fade easy. Right now, I'm going through and just getting all my outline done, some areas doing some thicker lines. I'm getting this setup for all the highlights I'll be doing in my green. All right, I'm working my way through this character looking pretty shabby-shabby. I'm just going to take a little bit of this green, something that's going to compliment the blue, do a couple of highlights and you know just have a lot of fun. Whenever you do do characters, like I said, it's just kind of a format on how to break it down. Whether it is realistic or cartoonish just get your base color down, get a good background color going. Use the right type of tips and just break it down and format it right back out. This green is really going to set it off.

Whenever I think of pinched harmonics the first person I think of is Billy Gibbons the guitarist for ZZ Top. A lot of other great players have made nice use of pinched harmonics as well. One of the things to keep in mind is that there are harmonics five, seven, and twelve frets away from every note as well as in other positions. For more details, I did do another Howcast lesson on harmonics, so you should check that out. Let's look at the position of the second fret, F sharp minor. My clearest harmonics here are twelve frets away. That's the fourteenth fret. So, just for demonstration, I'm going to use my first finger and I'm going to pick each harmonic. If I were to tap those it would sound like this. Okay. So, these aren't good for pinched harmonics because it's very hard to pick up here. What I want to do is go twelve frets higher, right. One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. Now, here I start to run out of room. So, I have to use the pick-up or the body of the guitar to memorize where I am. Now, using pinching technique I can find the harmonics. So, I'm just picking the note. As I pick the note my thumb is supposed to go over the harmonic. Now, I have to find this. No. There we go. Okay. So this is easy to remember because on this guitar it's pretty much right in the line of the pick-up. On another guitar it might be above the screw of the pick-up, and it's going to be in a different place for each key. A big part of this is memorizing where the harmonics are on the guitar. But since I know where the main harmonic is for F sharp I can figure out where the rest of the notes are. Alright, it's rough, but basically that's this pentatonic and harmonics. When playing pinched harmonics it really helps to be on the treble pick-up. It helps to have a lot of distortion, too. I can continue through the scale and play harmonics. Okay. Having mapped out the harmonics I can now play some licks and just throw in pinched harmonics here and there. Check it out. So, with pinched harmonics you sort of have to guess where they are. You're not going to nail them every time, but when you do nail them they sound cool. I hope you've enjoyed this lesson on pinched harmonics.
