ऐसे कुत्ते जो शेर पर भी भारी है //BIGGEST DOG of the WORLD

02:48
world's largest dog breeds 1. Great DaneWe'll start with the breed that is widely recognized as the largest, at least in terms of height. The Great Dane is a breed of German origin and its German name of Deutsche Dogge, means German mastiff. However, before setting down official roots in Germany, the dogs that eventually became the Great Dane breed came from a crossbreed between English mastiffs and Irish wolfhounds. Though they aren't the heaviest dogs, reaching around 100-120 pounds, they are among the tallest. The average Great Dane stands around 28-30 inches tall but often they can be taller. The world record holder for tallest dog was a Great Dane named Zeus who stood an astounding 44 inches tall. However, these big dogs trade longevity for their size, and live only to be between 6 to 8 years old. Zeus died of old age at just 5 years old. Though the Great Dane is typically considered the largest of all dog breeds, we're going to look at a few other breeds that give this one a run for its money, including one breed that is actually even taller .2. Neapolitan mastiffMastiff breeds are certainly among the largest dogs in terms of sheer mass. The Neapolitan mastiff originated in southern Italy. Used as a guard dog, the average male mastiff stands between 26-31 inches tall and weighs a hefty 130-155 pounds. Females are usually a little smaller, standing a few inches shorter and weighing 110-130 pounds. This breed is known for being fearless and protective of home and family, making it an ideal guard dog — but not an ideal warning system. Mastiffs tend to be quiet, and are known for sneaking up on intruders rather than barking to warn them off. Because of the breed's protective nature, you certainly don't want to stand between these dogs and their family, which makes this dog a breed only for owners well versed in dog training and able to put in the extensive time needed for socialization. 3. Scottish Deerhound Going back to the leggy breeds, the Scottish deerhound gives away its purpose and origin in its name. Originating in Scotland well before recorded history, the breed is a courser, once used to hunt red deer and easily chasing down its prey. They are larger and heavier than greyhounds but are built similarly, with a lanky body meant for speed. Deerhounds can stand as tall as 32 inches and weigh as much as 110 pounds. Though they aren't used for deer hunting today, the breed is kept alive by enthusiasts who use them for show and in some places, lure coursing. 4. Dogue de Bordeaux The Dogue de Bordeaux goes by several other names, including the Bordeaux mastiff, French mastiff and Bordeauxdog. But this breed, by any other name, still stands as massive. Though other breeds, from the poodle and French bulldog to the Great Pyrenees and Basset hound may be more famous breeds of French origin, the Dogue de Bordeaux is one of the most ancient breeds of France. The Dogue de Bordeaux stands between 23-27 inches tall and weighs between 125-150 pounds. But though it is fairly average as far as mastiff breeds go, it does have one thing that sets it apart: It is reported to have the largest head of any canine in relation to body size. Unlike the Neapolitan mastiff, the Bordeauxdog has been used for more than simply guarding house and home, though that was also in its job description. These dogs also were used for everything from watching over flocks to pulling carts. It has historically been a true working dog and a jack of all trades — at least, as far as dogs go. The breed is active and energetic outdoors, but once inside is, well, mellow to say the least.

ऐसा होगा 2050 में भारत चौक जाओगे - future of india in hindi

03:15
In 2050, our life will be a lot different from nowadays in many aspects. The environment, transportation, education and people’s lifestyles will also change to a new level. There are some reasons to be optimistic about life then. Along with development of scientific advances, people will have more means of transport. Solar- powered, wind- powered cars which are much more environment-friendly will be produced and used. Travelling to other planets will be more available for everyone. In addition, everyone can afford to study in 2050. And with the help of technologies, we don’t need to go to school anymore. Just stay at home and you can learn everything with online teachers. The schedule will be more optional for you to choose as long as it suits your time and your purposes. However, there also some reasons to worry about life in the year 2050. The more modern the technologies will be the much polluted environment we have. As I suppose, the future environment will have much pollution. Nevertheless, future scientists will pay more attention to this aspect so I think it will be improved soon. Because of technologies, people will be much passive than at present. There will be robots helping people in many aspects of their lives. People won’t need to do housework or cook for meals because robots do them all. Because we can study at home so people will use computers almost every day, which make they become much lazier and easier to be fat. There will have a lot of changes in our life in the next 37 years. Whether it a better or worse life depends on what we will do to it and how they can influence our life.

विश्व के अजीब और खतरनाक पुल //Most Amazing Bridges on The World

03:06
Bridges are described as a structure built to span and provide passage over physical obstacles such as a road, valley or body of water. Of course, the final design of the bridge varies in accordance with its function and the nature of the surrounding terrain, with some of the earliest bridges comprising stones or simply logs in a river. However, today, not only do some bridges serve their purpose, but they also comprise authentic works of art or structures of physical beauty which transform their surroundings or successfully blend in with nature. Here are some examples of the world’s most beautiful and unique bridges. This impressive bridge, located in the 200-acre gothic style Kromlauer Park in Kromlau, was built around 1860. It is called the ” Rakotzbrücke” but is more popularly known as the “Devil’s Bridge” and consists of an arch bridge made entirely of Basalt stone also used to build various other features in the park. It is no longer open to the public to ensure its preservation, however, with the reflection on the water’s surface creating a flawless circle, it is certainly very beautiful. Living Root Bridges – India In the tiny village of Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on earth, the bridges are not built but grown. These living bridges make use of the roots of the native Ficus elastica tree (rubber tree). They are tamed to grow in a certain direction, a trick learned by the local War-Khasis tribe a long time ago, and whilst they can “grow” over a hundred feet long they take from ten to fifteen years to become fully functional. Extraordinarily strong, in addition to the unique materials used, these living root bridges can withstand the weight of fifty or more people at a time. Henderson Waves Bridge – Singapore The Henderson Waves Bridge stands 36 meters above Henderson Road in Singapore and connects Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. The stunning wave-like structure, comprising a series of undulating curved steel ribs with thousands of yellow balls wood slats, is what makes this pedestrian bridge so unique. These curved ribs form alcoves providing shelter for the public. At night, the Henderson Waves Bridge beautifully illuminated with LED lights. The Helix Bridge – SingaporeSingapore is also home to the Helix Bridge comprising a pedestrian bridge crossing Singapore River and connecting Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay. If features a double helix structure modeled on DNA, the first of its kind in the world. These two opposing spiral steel members are accompanied by canopies consisting of fritted-glass and perforated steel mesh which are incorporated along parts of the inner spiral to provide shelter and seating for pedestrians. In addition, four strategically located viewing platforms across the bridge provide stunning views of the marina and a series of lights highlight the unique double helix structure that the bridge features. Aiola Island Bridge Bar – AustriaAs the name indicates, not only does this bridge provide passage across the Mur River in Graz, Austria, it also features a trendy bar, sunbathing area, coffee bar, open-air theater and children’s play area right in the center. Built in 2003, it was designed by New York artist Vito Acconci who created a structure with an organically curved façade featuring triangular facets of either Nirosta steel panels or flat glass panels. Thanks to this innovative bridge, Aiola Island now comprises a popular tourist attraction Banpo Bridge Water Fountain – South KoreaBanpo Bridge, also known as the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, spans the Han River in Seoul connecting the Seocho and Yongsan districts. It was built as part of a project to revive and allure tourists to the area. What makes the Banpo Bridge so unique is that it was actually built on top of the existing Jamsu Bridge to form part of a double-decker bridge. Later 380 LED nozzles, shooting out 190 tons of water per minute, were added on either side. The water is pumped directly from the river 20 meters below the deck and shoots out as far as 43 meters horizontally which, thanks to the 200 lights installed on the bridge, create a wonderful rainbow effect at night.

जहां इंसान नहीं जा सकता वहां जाता है ड्रोन//Top 4 Incredable Tecnologic Drones in the world

02:49
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. UAVs are a component of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS); which include a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of communications between the two. The flight of UAVs may operate with various degrees of autonomy: either under remote control by a human operator or autonomously by onboard computers.[1] Compared to manned aircraft, UAVs were originally used for missions too "dull, dirty or dangerous"[2] for humans. While they originated mostly in military applications, their use is rapidly expanding to commercial, scientific, recreational, agricultural, and other applications,[3] such as policing, peacekeeping,[4] and surveillance, product deliveries, aerial photography, agriculture, smuggling,[5] and drone racing. Civilian UAVs now vastly outnumber military UAVs, with estimates of over a million sold by 2015, so they can be seen as an early commercial application of autonomous things, to be followed by the autonomous car and home robots .How Do Drones Work And What Is Drone TechnologyWhat is a drone and how do drones work is answered here in this easy to understand article. Drone technology is constantly evolving as new innovation and big investment are bringing more advanced drones to the market every few months. Below, we discuss UAV technology on the most popular drones on the market which have all the latest drone technology. Most drones will have very similar systems incorporated. ये राज है रोल्स रॉयस कार के कीमती होने का // facts about rolls royce

02:27
In 1998, Vickers decided to sell Rolls-Royce Motors. The most likely buyer was BMW, which already supplied engines and other components for Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, but BMW's final offer of £340 million was beaten by Volkswagen's £430 million. A stipulation in the ownership documents of Rolls-Royce dictated that Rolls-Royce plc, the aero-engine maker, would retain certain essential trademarks, including the Rolls-Royce name and logo if the automotive division was sold. Although Vickers plc sold the vehicle designs, nameplates, administrative headquarters, production facilities, Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grill shape trademarks to Volkswagen AG, Rolls-Royce plc chose to license the Rolls-Royce name and logo to BMW AG for £40 million, because Rolls-Royce plc had recently had joint business ventures with BMW. BMW's contract to supply engines and components to Rolls-Royce Motors allowed BMW to cancel the contract with 12 months' notice. Volkswagen would be unable to re-engineer the Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles to use other engines within that time frame. With the Rolls-Royce brand identification marks split between the two companies and Volkswagen's engine supply in jeopardy, the two companies entered into negotiations. Volkswagen agreed to sell BMW the Spirit of Ecstasy and grill shape trademarks and BMW agreed to continue supplying engines and components until 2003. Volkswagen continued to produce Rolls-Royce branded vehicles between 1998 and 2003, giving BMW time to build a new Rolls-Royce administrative headquarters and production facility on the Goodwood Estate near Chichester, West Sussex, and develop the Phantom, the first Rolls-Royce from the new company. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited became the exclusive manufacturer of Rolls-Royce branded cars in 2003. Rolls-Royce announced in September 2014 that a new technology and logistics centre will be built, due to open in 2016, 8 miles away from the main headquarters, in the seaside resort town of Bognor RegisRolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited is a British luxury automobile maker. A wholly owned subsidiary of German group BMW, it was established in 1998 after BMW was licensed the rights to the Rolls-Royce brand name and logo from Rolls-Royce plc and acquired the rights to the Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grill shape trademarks from Volkswagen AG. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited operates from purpose-built administrative and production facilities opened in 2003 across from the historic Goodwood Circuit in Goodwood, West Sussex, England, United Kingdom. Rolls-Royce Motors Cars Limited is the exclusive manufacturer of Rolls-Royce branded motor cars since 2003. Although the Rolls-Royce brand has been in use since 1906, the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars subsidiary of BMW AG has no direct relationship to Rolls-Royce branded vehicles produced prior to 2003. The Bentley Motors Limited subsidiary of Volkswagen AG is the direct successor to Rolls-Royce Motors and various other predecessor entities that produced Rolls-Royce and Bentley branded cars between the foundation of each company and 2003, when the BMW-controlled entity started producing cars under the Rolls-Royce brand. The Rolls-Royce Phantom four-door sedan was the first product offered for sale in 2003. Since then, the company has expanded its product line to include extended wheelbase, two-door coupé, and convertible versions of the Phantom sedan, as well as the smaller Ghost four-door sedan and Wraith two-door coupé

क्या आप भी खाना चाहेंगे यह खाना ये डिशेस Fugu from Japan Most people don’t consider the possibility of death a reality during their daily meal, but for those eating Fugu, it’s something that must be considered. Fugu is a Japanese pufferfish that contains enough poison to kill 30 people. The chefs who prepare this expensive Japanese delicacy must undergo years of training. Served in a stew, grilled or as paper-thin sashimi, any small mistake in preparation could mean an untimely end to the consumer. Those wishing to try this deadly delicacy should visit Japan during October to March when fugu is in season. Prairie Oysters from Canada Not oysters at all, this delightful dish is made from bull testicles and also goes by the name Rocky Mountain Oysters. Found throughout cattle ranching country, curious eaters wanting to try the Canadian version are advised to head to Alberta. Buzzards Restaurant, located in Calgary, serves them up during the summer months. Prepared sautéed, fried or stuffed, the testicles are accompanied with herbs, spices, sauces and dips for a real taste of cowboy cuisine. Haggis from Scotland Considered Scotland’s national dish, this mixture includes sheep’s heart, liver and lungs, onion, oatmeal, spices, and stock. Traditionally stuffed into a sheep’s stomach and simmered, this hearty dish dates back to the 1400’s and today is served as the main course of a Burns supper on Robert Burns Day. Typically eaten with tatties and neeps (mashed potatoes and turnips), it is often served with a dram of Scotch whisky to get it all down. Today, Haggis is conveniently available ready-made from the grocery store and is a great source of iron and fibre. Sannakji from South Korea A South Korean delicacy, this dish of live octopus is eaten either whole or in pieces depending on the size of the specimen. Served raw and usually only with a splash of sesame oil, it’s so fresh that the tentacles are still squirming. Suckers from the octopus can attach themselves inside the throat of the consumer causing choking or even death, which makes eating this mollusk a scary proposition. Although the actual octopus is mildly flavoured, the live animal wrapping itself around the diners face as they try to swallow it down is surely an experience to remember. Hakarl from Iceland Rotten shark may sound disgusting, but if the Greenland shark were eaten in its fresh form it would be poisonous. By allowing the shark to ferment and decay the fish becomes edible—if the eater can get past the ammonia smell and fetid fishy taste. Most first time diners involuntarily gag, and it’s recommended that the fish be chased with a shot of local spirit. Icelanders are able to eat their Hakarl year round, and the rotten fish is stocked, vacuum packed, in regular supermarkets. गोवा यानि मौज मस्ती और सेर सपाटा //Why Goa is Beautiful Holiday Destination?

07:03
Goa is a state in India within the coastal region known as the Konkan, in Western India[. It is bounded by Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its Western coast. It is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Goa has the highest GDP per capita among all Indian states, that is two and a half times that of the country. It was ranked the 'best placed State' by the "Eleventh Finance Commission" for its infrastructure and ranked on top for the 'best quality of life' in India by the National Commission on Population based on the 12 Indicators. Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is its largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants and conquered it soon thereafter. Goa is a former Portuguese province; the Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 450 years until it was annexed by India in 1961. Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year for its white sand beaches, nightlife, places of worship and world heritage architecture. It has rich flora and fauna, owing to its location on the Western Ghats range, a biodiversity hotspotTourism is generally focused on the coastal areas of Goa, with decreased tourist activity inland. In 2010, there were more than 2 million tourists reported to have visited Goa, about 1.2 million of whom were from abroad.[52] As of 2013, Goa was a destination of choice for Indian and foreign tourists, particularly Britons and Russians, with limited means who wanted to party. The state was hopeful that changes could be made which would attract a more upscale demographic.[53] Goa stands 6th in the Top 10 Nightlife cities in the world in National Geographic Travel.[54] One of the biggest tourist attractions in Goa is water sports. Beaches like Baga and Calangute offer jet-skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides, water scooter rides, and more. Patnem beach in Palolem stood 3rd in CNN Travel's Top 20 Beaches in Asia.[55] Over 450 years of Portuguese rule and the influence of the Portuguese culture presents to visitors to Goa a cultural environment that is not found elsewhere in India. Goa is often described as a fusion between Eastern and Western culture with Portuguese culture having a dominant position in the state be it in its architectural, cultural or social settings. The state of Goa is famous for its excellent beaches, churches, and temples.[56] The Bom Jesus Cathedral, Fort Aguada and a new wax museum on Indian history, culture and heritage in Old Goa are other tourism destinations.

ये गड्डे पूरी दुनिया को अपने अंदर समां सकते हैं - Endless Sinkholes

03:04
A sinkhole is a depression in the ground that has no natural external surface drainage. Basically this means that when it rains, all of the water stays inside the sinkhole and typically drains into the subsurface. Sinkholes are most common in what geologists call, “karst terrain.” These are regions where the types of rock below the land surface can naturally be dissolved by groundwater circulating through them. Soluble rocks include salt beds and domes, gypsum, and limestone and other carbonate rock. Florida, for instance, is an area largely underlain by limestone and is highly susceptible to sinkholes. When water from rainfall moves down through the soil, these types of rock begin to dissolve. This creates underground spaces and caverns. Sinkholes are dramatic because the land usually stays intact for a period of time until the underground spaces just get too big. If there is not enough support for the land above the spaces, then a sudden collapse of the land surface can occur.

lion.gif We all know the story of how Sang Nila Utama, a Srivijayan Prince from Palembang saw a creature he thought was a lion and named the island Singapura which means Lion City in Sanskrit. But truth be told, there were no lions ever in Singapore. It's possible that the creature he saw was actually a tiger. Think about it! We could have been called Tiger City. That's so strange... For 36 years, Singapore was 7.5 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). In 1982, the Singapore Standard Time was redefined to be 8 hours ahead of GMT. The story behind it is that East Malaysia was GMT +8.00 but West Malaysia was GMT +7.50. Malaysia decided to standardise their timing but it'd be awkward for Singapore to be the only one who's 7.5 hours ahead of GMT. So, they changed it.According to a research by the British Council, Singaporeans have the fastest walking speed. On average, we walk a distance of 18 metres in 10.55 seconds. That's approximately 6.15km in an hour!If you already knew all the facts above then congratulations! You're one super patriotic Singaporean! But if not then now you've got new facts to share with your friends! It is illegal to not flush the toilet in Singapore. For failing to flush, you will be fined $150, and police officers have bezen known to check.

5. Boeing 747 – $153 million The 747-8 is one of Boeing´s most successful models. An unnamed client has customized his private plane with luxuries such as fully equipped bathrooms, private living room, a master suite with stunning views, a guest cabin with en-suite bathroom, and a private office. Other amenities include big screen TVs, low tables, two living areas with sofas, dining room for 14 guests, and a large meeting room. The client spent about $200 million for the facilities. No wonder the plane finds a place in our list of most expensive planes. This amazing aircraft can hit a speed of about 645 miles per hour on a 9,200-mile flight. 4. Airbus A380 Superjumbo Jet – $500 million Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body plane with four engines. The Saudi prince’s plane includes a pray room that rotates so that it always faces Mecca, a stable for horses and camels, and a garage for cars. This plane is the world’s largest commercial aircraft with huge dimensions and to accommodate it many airports around the globe have refurbished their facilities. The Airbus A380 has a total capacity of 525 people in a three-class configuration and 850 in a single-class configuration. This plane was involved in an accident on 4 November 2010 on a flight from Shanghai to Sydney when one of its engines developed a problem which forced the pilot to land in Singapore. Luckily, there were no injuries to the crew or passengers. 3. Airbus A340-300 – $600 million The A340-300 has a capacity of 295 passengers and can easily cover up to 7,400 nautical miles (13,700 km) during a single flight. It entered service with Air France and Lufthansa in March 1993. In fact, Lufthansa is the largest buyer of this aircraft and operates a fleet of 30 planes. The year 2006 saw the launch of the improved A340-300 Enhanced version with advanced fly-by-wire and avionics systems and newer CFM56-5C4/P engines. As of July 2017, airlines were using 104 Airbus A340-300s for their operations. This plane has a cruising speed of 871 km/h (541 mph) and a maximum speed of 914 km/h (568 mph). 2. Air Force One – $660 million Air Force One is a triple decker with 4,000 square feet of space. This gives all passengers plenty of leg room to stretch their legs. The plane can easily hit a speed of 650 miles per hour. For medical emergencies, there is a mini hospital on board with specialist doctors and an operation theater. The aircraft is equipped to survive meteor strikes, earthquake, and nuclear war. In case of an attack, it deploy flares to counter heat-seeking missiles, ECM (electronic countermeasures), and radar-jamming technology. The plane has mid-air refueling abilities and can be refueled even at 35,000 feet. However, President Donald Trump wishes to get rid of this facility to save money. Air Force One has sophisticated communications technology with 85 phones, 238 miles of electronic wiring, 19 televisions, a range of computer connections, fax machines, and two-way radios. It hosts two well-stocked kitchens with amenities to feed a 100 people. During a terrorist strike, it can operate as a command center. Air Force One is always given priority over other air traffic. But this does not impact commercial air traffic as this plane usually lands and takes off from military bases in the US. The plane can accommodate 100 passengers and 26 crew members. 1. B-2 Spirit – $737 million The B-2 Spirit was launched in 1989. The program to develop it was initiated during the Carter administration in the late 1970s. Northrop was chosen to build this fighter plane. The highlight of its design is a technique called “continuous curvature” which deflects radar. In fact, its radar cross-section is just 1.1 square feet – the size of a pigeon. The bomber was first deployed in action in the Kosovo War in 1989 where it flew 50 sorties. Video Footage credit - Videoblocks.Com The B-2 costs about $135,000 per hour to operate. It has a flying range of 6,000 nautical miles, and refuels every six hours. The plane has amenities such as a hot plate to prepare food, a bed, and a toilet. One pilot can sleep at a time on long missions, minimizing fatigue during round-the-clock flights. The fighter jet has a quadruple fly-by-wire flight control system, split brake-rudders, and differential thrust to maneuver which keeps its radar cross-section low. Its engines are concealed in the wing, hiding fan blades from radar, and reducing the engine’s heat signature to prevent detection by infrared tracking systems. Finally, the B-2 can hit a top speed of 1,010 km/hour. Disclaimer- Some contents are used for educational purpose under fair use. इंडोनेशिया के होश उड़ाने वाले रहस्य // Shocking facts about indonesia

07:11
The name Indonesia derives from the Greek name of the Indos (Ἰνδός) and the word nesos (νῆσος), meaning "Indian islands".[20] The name dates to the 18th century, far predating the formation of independent Indonesia.[21] In 1850, George Windsor Earl, an English ethnologist, proposed the terms Indunesians—and, his preference, Malayunesians—for the inhabitants of the "Indian Archipelago or Malayan Archipelago".[22] In the same publication, one of his students, James Richardson Logan, used Indonesia as a synonym for Indian Archipelago.[23][24] However, Dutch academics writing in East Indies publications were reluctant to use Indonesia; they preferred Malay Archipelago (Maleische Archipel); the Netherlands East Indies (Nederlandsch Oost Indië), popularly Indië; the East (de Oost); and Insulinde.[25] After 1900, Indonesia became more common in academic circles outside the Netherlands, and native nationalist groups adopted it for political expression.[25] Adolf Bastian, of the University of Berlin, popularised the name through his book Indonesien oder die Inseln des Malayischen Archipels, 1884–1894. The first native scholar to use the name was Ki Hajar Dewantara, when in 1913 he established a press bureau in the Netherlands, Indonesisch Pers-bureau.[Islam in Indonesia is very clear. Multiple theories states it arrived indirectly from Arabia before the 9th century, while another credits Sufi merchants and preachers for bringing Islam to Indonesian islands in the 12th or 13th century either from Gujarat in India or directly from the Middle East.[1] Before the arrival of Islam, the predominant religions in Indonesia were Buddhism and Hinduism (particularly its Shaivism tradition)

भूलकर भी न जाना इन सड़कों पर ।| The Dangerous Roads of the world

03:48
10. Karakoram Highway (Pakistan to China) Sometimes considered the Eighth Wonder of the World, because it was built as high as 15,000 feet above sea level and under very rough conditions, construction on the Karakoram Highway began in 1966 and was completed in 1979, although it wasn’t open to the public until 1986. This dangerous road covers more than 1,300 kilometers and, at least in some places, follows the old Silk Road. Cutting through the most mountainous region in the world, the Karakoram Highway is beset with hazards: rock falls, landslides, avalanches, flooding, snow drifts, reckless drivers, herds of animals, precipitous cliffs and terrible storms. Interestingly, the road meanders though the Hunza Valley, the scene of James Hilton’s Lost Horizon, a novel about the mythical Shangri-La, a harmonious place where people live for centuries.9. Logging Road (Europe) The author doesn’t know where this road is located, perhaps somewhere in Europe; nevertheless, it must be one of the most dangerous roads in existence. Of course, there are many other logging roads throughout the world, many of which are not paved, while others are little more than animal trails. At any rate, if traveling on this road is any indication of what this work entails, then men and women who drive logging trucks deserve pay for hazardous work – that’s for certain!8. Pan American Highway (Alaska to Chile) The Pan American Highway (PAH) is not entirely dangerous, that is, it’s probably no worse than your average American highway. But in some places, you risk your freedom and even your life by using the PAH as a means of travel. Certainly a dangerous section of the PAH winds through Mexico and Central America, where drug cartel terrorists roam. And in the Panamanian section of the road, you could encounter FARC rebels, who often take captives and hold them for ransom, sometimes for years, while others never escape their makeshift jungle prisons. Anyway, the PAH is 30,000 miles long and the only broken section of the road is the 60-mile Darién Gap, between Panama and Colombia, where the FARC are even worse. Let’s hope they never complete the highway through there!7. Sichaun-Tibet Highway (China) This very long highway – 2,028 kilometers in length – connects Chengdu in Sichaun with Lhasa in Tibet, through an area known as Kham. Continuously beset with rockslides and avalanches, the Sichaun-Tibet Highway is a treacherous, switchback-laden highway that winds among towering peaks, some of which over 6,000 meters in elevation, often causing vomit-spewing altitude sickness in travelers. Along the way, numerous Buddhist monasteries, red-robed Buddhists and herds of yaks can be seen. The road was built between 1950 and 1954 and since then many thousands of people per year have died while traveling on the Sichaun-Tibet Highway.6. James Dalton Highway (Alaska) Also known as the North Slope Hall Road, the James Dalton Highway is a road used by truckers, especially those who travel to and from the Prudhoe Bay oil fields on the north slope of Alaska. In fact, the road supports the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. The Highway is 414 miles long, paved in places, but about three-fourths of it is not. There are no medical facilities along the road, though three towns exist along the way. It’s advised that anyone traveling the road should bring survival gear. Interestingly, the TV reality show, Ice Road Truckers, has many episodes dramatizing the rigors of traveling on this deadly, primitive road.5. Siberian Road to Yakutsk (Russia) Travel through Siberia is always a challenge. Nicknamed the “Road of Bones,” the Siberian Road to Yakutsk meanders its way through one of the coldest regions in the world. (The town of Yakutsk is constructed on permafrost.) The road is mostly unpaved (particularly in the north) and is about 760 miles long. The preferred time to travel on the road is winter, when the ground and water are frozen, making travel somewhat easier. But during July and August, when it tends to rain a lot, the road becomes a monstrous quagmire, leading to traffic jams miles long. Only the most rugged 4X4 vehicles can manage this muddy beast. To make matters even worse, people get so bored during these traffic jams, they’ve been known to rob each other!4. Guoliang Tunnel Road (China) When the Chinese government decided it wasn’t worth the trouble and expense to make a road that would be used by only 300 villagers, 13 of those villagers decided to build a .8-mile tunnel through the solid rock of a vertical cliff. Located in the Taihang Mountains in the province of Henan, the villagers used explosives to blow their way through this vertiginous cliff. Lacking road-building experience, some villagers died in accidents.
