I am asked frequently if women can take Viagra. Men and women generally have different issues. Men usually complain of performance problems, not sex drive. Women "usually" are looking to improve their low libido. If they have performance issues, it is more related to the vaginal changes of menopause. Studies in women were very disappointing, because it does NOT improve libido, and should have been obvious at the onset of the study. A new medicine, “Flibanserin" is a novel drug, that reportedly works to improve libido in women by stimulating the brain. It was denied by the FDA, but has just resubmitted an application to be approved. It stimulates neurotransmitters in the brain, similar to an antidepressant, but it does it in a different part of the brain.

It's not at all like male viagra... Now that 'female viagra' or Addyi, is available by prescription, we imagined what it might be like for doctors around the world.... Patient : Oh, yes – I would like female Viagra please. Doctor: Err, do you mean Addyi? – it’s generic name is flibanserin Patient: Uhm – I mean like – the magic sex drug. I saw that theres this pill -- like male viagra -- and you can have amazing sex on it, so if boys can have it, girls should be able to have it too, so i want it. I mean, more is more right? Doctor: Well, Hmm. See, male Viagra – what you are referring to – is actually very different. It sends blood to the male genitals – and uhh, this is actually totally different to the female version – which works on your brain chemistry to increase labido. So, it’s really not like Viagra at all. Patient: But it’s a sex drug, right? Can you – write me a prescription. Doctor See, Flibanserin, the generic name – is actually for people with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). You don’t just pop it, if you want to have more sex. It’s a treatment for a condition. Patient : So, what are the symptoms of that – condition. Doctor : Uhh – low libido – Patient : Low libido! that’s totally me. Doctor : Really? Because, that’s not what you said originally. I think you said “more is more”. Patient : Oh, I was talking about eyebrows. But in terms of low libido – that’s totally me. Doctor : Can you tell me a little bit about that? Patient : Well, yeah sure. Well like the other night I was drunk at TAO, and this hot guy came up to me – and he had those abdomen muscles like Brad Pitt in fight club – and then we caught an uber back to his place in Flatbush – and it was like, I mean – let’s just say I felt sorry for the driver – but anyway – when I woke up the next day – I still had my skiiny jeans on. Doctor : Umm. Okay. This is mainly meant to help people with issues in intimate relationships. Patient : And the other day – the delivery guy from los tacos, we’re like – pretty close, if you know what I mean – like, Domingo is really special to me, I mean I see him basically everytime I order tacos – and the other night – he asked me if I wanted anything else – and like – “I was like, you know what – I just wanted to eat my quesadilla and watch Orange is the New Black.” Doctor : Okay, well. Let’s do a medical check, and see that this is right for you. Are you currently on any other medication? Patient : Just the pill. – For my T-zone. Doctor : Are you allergic to any medications? Patient : Umm. Not really. I did feel nautious last time I took Plan B. But that was like – in summer-ish. Doctor : How many sexual partners do you have? Patient : Pass. Doctor : Are you currently pregnant? Patient : I hope not! I’m pretty sure – no? Wait. When was the Marquee opening? How definitive of an answer do you need for that? Doctor : Umm – when was the first day of your last period? Patient :Oh – I have my diary – I can work this out...Monday! Doctor : So you’re on your period now? Patient :Yes! So I’m defiantly not pregnant. Doctor : Okay – so – just – take this to the pharmacy. Now, you can’t consume alcohol while you are on these. Patient :Ugh, god – it’s like being on antibiotics. Doctor : Well yes – it kind of is, because it’s prescription medication. Patient : Oh. I’ll save it for special occasions. Like champagne! But not. Doctor : You actually have to take this medication every day. Patient : Oh. What happens if you don’t? Doctor : It won’t be effective. Patient : What happens if I accidentally – like say, if someone spiked my drink – with vodka. Doctor: You’ll suffer negative side effects. Dizziness, nausea… Patient : Any hallucinating? Doctor : Not typically, no. Patient : Oh. Well, this should be good anyway. Thanks so much doctor. Doctor : Is there anything else I can help you with today? Patient : No thanks. Oh; you guys don’t do medical marujana here do you? This video is presented by Jayde Lovell, produced and edited by Solvi Haugseth, at Youtube Space NYC. Viagra does not affect the desire for sex in men, it just helps with the hydraulics. The drug boosts blood flow to the genitals so men can get and sustain an erection. Yet the female libido drug that passed muster at a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel this week will not live up to the “female Viagra” hype it’s been getting. The new drug is designed to alter women’s brain chemistry over time to help increase sex drive. Unlike Viagra, it does not spark an immediate physical change in the body. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-myth-of-female-viagra/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Despite being dubbed the female viagra, unlike Viagra, which affects blood flow to the genitals, Flibanserin, works on the brain. According to Sprout Pharmaceuticals, the privately held startup that designed the drug, Flibanserin focuses on the brain's prefrontal cortex and enables sexual desire to manifest by rebalancing neurotransmitters that influence it. Specifically, flibanserin increases dopamine and norepinephrine, responsible for sexual excitement, and decreases serotonin, which is responsible for sexual satiety and inhibition. This is likely achieved by a reduction of glutamate transmission. Women who took the drug in a clinical study have shown an increase of about 1.0 more sexually satisfying events per month, Reuters reported. The pill needs to be taken every day and its most common side effects are dizziness, nausea and sleepiness. Advocates claim that the increase in sexually satisfying events is meaningful, while critics say the benefit is outweighed by the drug’s risks. Flibanserin will be sold under the brand name Addyi. As the drug could potentially cause dangerously low blood pressure and fainting when taken with alcohol it will be sold exclusively through certified health care professionals and pharmacies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Media Animation’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D animated news graphics that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health. READ MORE: http://nollygrio.com/?p=885 A 74 year old man took TWO tablets of Viagra, at once. He took it because he wanted to sexually impress during a night of passion with a woman almost 50 years his junior, but things didn’t quite go according to plan Retired hairdresser Ray Boddington, 74, had picked up the pills from a friend in his local pub after scoring with the 27-year old woman, Mirror has told us. But as he left her apartment after a night of nookie, Ray was taken ill at a bus stop with major heart palpitations and an ambulance had to be called. As he lay in the back of the ambulance a paramedic treating the father of six told him: ‘It’s coming down” only to then add: ”I’m talking about your blood pressure’’. Tests showed Ray had a high blood pressure reading of 157/88 – a normal reading shouldn’t be above 140/90. His heart was also beating at a high rate of 102 beats per minute – above the regular 60-100 beats. The pensioner, from Salford, Greater Manchester – a former contestant on The X Factor – was allowed to stay in the vehicle until his heart rate went back to normal. He did not require any hospital treatment over the incident on October 25. Ray said: “The paramedics told me you shouldn’t take two and I want to pass on that warning that it can make you ill, it can make your blood pressure go sky high or you could have a heart attack. ”It was only two hours after taking the tablets when I began began to feel faint. I could my heart pounding in my chest and the blood rushing from my head. I thought I was having a heart attack and I was going to die.” “Imagine if someone dies because no-one has spoken about the dangers. People shy away from the subject. It took around 24 hours for things to go back to normal.” “In the ambulance the paramedic said, ‘it’s coming down’, I said ‘it doesn’t feel like it’s coming down’, she said, ‘no, I’m talking about your blood pressure’. Lol. What kind of wahala will sex not cause in this world?

Last week, South Carolina Rep. Mia McLeod filed a bill that would make it harder for men to access erectile dysfunction drugs. If the bill becomes law, men seeking drugs like Viagra would have to wait 24 hours between getting a prescription and buying the drug, would need to have continual heart-monitoring and therapy sessions after first using the drug, and would be required to sign an affidavit from a sexual partner confirming that he really does suffer from ED. McLeod told NBC affiliate WCBD that she “purposely tried to make the bill as invasive, as intrusive, as hypocritical, and unnecessary as possible,” to show her male colleagues how insane abortion regulation seems to women. http://fusion.net/story/245874/mia-mcleod-viagra-bill-abortion/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=/feed/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

You know the warning label on your medication that tells you how many pills is too many pills? Well, I’m pretty sure that 35 pills of *anything* at once is too many. But that’s the exact number of Viagra tablets that a man in England took recently, as a joke. It all started when 36-year-old married man and father of two Daniel Medforth of Withernsea in Yorkshire got plastered, which is funny, because he works as a plasterer. Once nice and tipsy, decided to guzzle 35 Viagra pills for a laugh. He told The Mirror that after ingesting so many pills, “I ended up feeling sick, dizzy and hallucinating-- everything I saw was green.” Daniel eventually got (crop to just hands on crotch) uncomfortable enough to confess his stupidity to his wife, who then called an ambulance. As you can guess, the medics arriving to the scene reportedly had trouble trying not to laugh. Once at the hospital, Daniel said just brushing his you-know-what against something was enough for it to “spring into life.” He was scolded by doctors and nurses and had to spend a while in bed recovering since the erection lasted five days. Five. Admittedly, this story is funny… but it could’ve been a lot worse. Taking too many uppers can cause brain hemorrhaging and even death. And ironically, too much Viagra can actually lead to erectile dysfunction. Be safe with your meds. For all of your pop culture news, subscribe to Complex on YouTube. Millions of men are taking PDE5 Inhibitors such as Viagra, Levitra or Cialis. How do PDE5 Inhibitors work? Your body has a system that provides the “gas” necessary to achieve an erection. Your body has another system that applies the break, in order to reduce an erection. Thank goodness for this breaking system, without it we would all be walking around with a permanent erection. However, as we age, the bodies breaking system gets stronger and stronger. That’s one reason it may sometimes be difficult to achieve erection. PDE5 inhibitors work by taking the pressure off of the breaks Releasing the breaks is one thing, pressing the gas can be something quite different. Nitric Oxide is the gas that makes the erection potent, More nitric oxide means longer and stronger erections Stronvivo increases your nitric oxide output and improves erectile function naturally. Stronvivo has been shown to be a great companion to PDE5 inhibitors and has enabled some men to take lower and lower doses of the prescription.

Tagalog/Eng/Nat Viagra, the headline grabbing anti-impotency pill, is now on sale in the Philippines. Pfizer, who manufacture the drug, have started delivering to local drugstores in Manila, two weeks after the local Bureau of Food and Drug gave its approval for its sale in the country. Pharmacies in the Philippines have finally begun to receive their stocks of Viagra. The manufacturer Pfizer, started deliveries of the new wonder drug at drugstores in Manila this week. Some stores already began selling the drug on Tuesday. With Viagra becoming the talk of the town, drugstore owners are anticipating a huge demand. Pharmacy owner Bhoyette Vizconde sold five tablets on the first day. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I already hoard (laughs) stocks because I'm really expecting that being the first to have Viagra here in our vicinity, I'm sure a lot of people will come here and inquire or buy Viagra." SUPER CAPTION: Bhoyette Vizconde, Owner of Marcelo's Pharmacy Pharmacy Plus received its first supply early this week. Owner James Sandoval, who owns several stores in the capital, put a few boxes of the pill on the shelf to show clients that the drug is now available. But before the drug was put on sale in his stores, Sandoval issued a memo to all his store managers to ensure that safety precautions are practiced before the drug is dispensed to patients. The B-F-A-D says it is important the pill is only sold to patients who come with a legitimate prescription from their doctors. Each pill comes with a leaflet giving warnings of possible side-effects if the drug is not taken properly. Pfizer warned that the drug should not be taken by people being treated with nitrate-based medication for heart problems. While he expects a huge demand for the drug, Sandoval said Filipino men may be a little shy of asking for the drug themselves. He says the men here will probably not want to admit they need Viagra and so he is arranging a home delivery service to put them out of their misery. SOUNDBITE: (English) "Because maybe at the secrecy of their own home, they can acquire the product because they might be too embarrassed to come forward to admit that they have a sexual problem. Any person that comes forward asking about the product - they're so defensive, they say right away "Hey listen I don't have a problem with this. I'm just inquiring". That goes to tell you how sensitive the issue is." SUPER CAPTION: James Sandoval, Owner of A-B Sandoval Drugstore Dr. Jesus Mendoza is a local doctor who has been checking out the testing of the Viagra drug. SOUNDBITE: (English) "Well, I was pretty excited and wanted to find out whether it was really going to work. Of course, there was some degree of skepticism at first. But when we started seeing back the patients who were on the study, then it was confirmed that my gosh, this works." SUPER CAPTION: Dr. Jesus Mendoza, Urologist In a press conference early this month, Pfizer said the approval from B-F-A-D came after they completed a six-month study of its effects on 500 men from six Asian countries, including the Philippines. The man who discovered Viagra, Dr. Peter Ellis, was in Manila last week and spoke of how his drug differs from the others already available in the market. SOUNDBITE: (English) "And I think the beauty of the drug is that it works to enhance the natural process. All the other products that are out there, you take the product, you get an erection. But Viagra, you take the product, you don't get an erection but it's only when sexually aroused. So it's basically enhancing a perfectly natural function and restoring it back to normal." "Female Viagra" and regular or "male" Viagra were both originally investigated as treatments for conditions other than sexual dysfunction. Viagra came out of studies on hypertension, and "female Viagra" for depression. But… that's where most of the similarities end. How so? Let's discuss. Flibanserin, sometimes called "female Viagra", is the topic of this week's Healthcare Triage. Special thanks to Rachel Hoffman for making this week's episode possible. Thanks, Rachel! I’m stunned by the extremes to which a pharmaceutical company will go when attempting to get FDA approval for some new drug. Take a look at the latest offering from privately-held Sprout Pharmaceuticals, who claim they now have a “female Viagra.” Yes, really. It is called Addyi. This drug is potentially dangerous, with some frightening side effects. They include an increased risk of syncope—temporary loss of consciousness—as well as severe low blood sugar, insomnia, dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, sedation, and anxiety. Manufacturers warn if you decide to use it, not to drink alcohol. I wouldn’t touch Addyi with a ten foot pole. Addyi is actually Flibanserin—a failed antidepressant. Unlike Viagra, which is designed to bring more blood flow to male genitals if a man chooses to use it temporarily, Addyi is supposed to be used every day—long-term by women. It claims to enhance a woman’s sexual impulses by targeting, not your genitals but your brain. Flibanserin is similar to other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Prozac. Ironically these drugs are notorious not for increasing libido, but for blunting it. Some time ago, Big Pharma invented a whole new “illness” known as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, defined as “persistently or recurrently deficient (or absent) sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity.” Addyi is supposed to treat this. Originally developed by family-owned Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany Flibanserin, after lengthy trails was judged to be ineffective as an antidepressant. Boehringer had submitted this drug to the FDA for approval in 2011. It was refused. Out of 1300 women who took part in trials, 15% dropped out due to unpleasant side effects. The FDA rejected the appeal, saying that whatever the drugs drug’s minor benefits might be they could not justify its nasty side effects. So Boehringer sold their invention to Sprout Pharmaceuticals in 2011. Who tried their luck with the FDA in 2013 and also got nowhere. However, Sprout’s persistence, massive lobbying and and financial investments amassed more than 60,000 supporting signatures so finally won FDA’s approval for the drug in August of 2015. This FDA approval stands next to many other applications which have won FDA approval in the past, showing that, when companies spend enough money, they can, in effect, force the FDA to approve many useless or dangerous drugs. Adriane Fugh-Berman MD, Pharmacology Professor at Georgetown University, describes Addyi as "a mediocre aphrodisiac with scary side-effects.” She adds, “The only thing that’s different is a clever, aggressive public relations campaign that Sprout Pharmaceuticals waged successfully.” Meanwhile, the outspoken Dr Mark Sircus makes his own assessment of the situation, which is well worth listening to. Sircus says, “Most doctors and medical associations just do not get that women are different from men sexually. They do not have genitals that function independent of their hearts and minds. The feminine principle is pretty much dead in modern civilization and especially at the FDA, which runs like the SS, a medical Gestapo. The FDA again proves what type of organization it is exposing women in America to the dangers and horrors of pharmaceutical drugs. They are the most unnatural organization in the world poisoning people instead of helping.” Need I say more? If you want to learn about safe natural aphrodisiacs that not only work but are a delight to use, I’ll be covering some of my favorites on our next two videocasts. Look forward to seeing you then.

Washington- The Food and Drug Administration has approved a libido-enhancing pill for premenopausal women whose lack of sexual desire causes distress, Reuters reported. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Urdu/Eng/Nat Doctors in Pakistan are warning of the dangers of men buying the impotence pill Viagra on the black market and taking it without prescription. The sale of the drug in the country is currently being debated by the government - it says it wants to make sure the drug will be made available in the safest possible way. But medical experts say the problem of impotency is high in the country and that men are anxious to try out supplies of Viagra introduced illegally at a high price. Viagra, the impotency pill, is proving to be big business in Pakistan. The drug, first released in the U-S in March 1998, is legally available in more than 50 countries worldwide. Many people consider it the beginning of a new revolution in pharmaceuticals. In Pakistan, the government is currently discussing when and how to introduce the drug. But Viagra has already found its way onto the black market in the country's capital Islamabad and can be bought at a high price. One tablet can cost anything from 20 to 50 U-S dollars - a bottle of Viagra tablets can cost anything from 360 to 800 U-S dollars. Some Viagra users say the drug has been freely available to them for some time now and that they're prepared to pay up. SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) "Viagra is a sex drug and I have been using it for about two years and found it very good, because it adds energy to the body if we use it two hours before sexual intercourse. I have found no other medicine better than Viagra and the demand for it is now growing." SUPER CAPTION: Abdul Qadir, Viagra user The country's health department has so far been reluctant to legalise Viagra - but it is aware of the black market problem and is prosecuting anyone found selling the drug. Government officials say they want to make sure that there are no loopholes before Viagra is legally available in Pakistan. SOUNDBITE: (English) "In the West they know that this drug has got side effects and that it is a prescription drug. So nobody can buy it without prescription, while in Pakistan we still have some loopholes, some weaknesses where the drug can be sold over the counter and this is my main worry in resisting to register it." SUPER CAPTION: Professor Ghayyur H. Ayub, Director General of Health Ministry There have been worries that Viagra may have side effects. But Pfizer, the company that produces Viagra, maintains the drug is a safe medicine for erectile dysfunction when used as recommended in the approved package insert. There are already many legal drugs on sale in Pakistan to help enhance sex. Herbal doctors offer remedies for impotency, claiming they're natural products that have no side effects. The herbal remedy sellers can often be found on roadsides doing a roaring trade - but even they now say that the new wonder drug is threatening their trade. Medical experts say there is no official impotency figure in the country because Pakistani men are reluctant to admit they have a problem in a nation where sex is a taboo subject. But doctors say it is an ever increasing problem and they are warning of the dangers of taking the impotence pill without prescription. Doctor Khalid Saeed said it is even more of a worry as impotency affects men of all ages. SOUNDBITE: (English) "There are two basic main groups in which we can find this who come to us commonly. One is the younger age group - they are really people in their early 20s and the other group is somewhere in the late 40s and 50s and both of them have different presentations. People in the younger age group generally come to you just before they are about to get married." SUPER CAPTION: Dr Khalid Saeed, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry, Rawalpindi In the meantime, they are encouraging people to seek alternative remedies.
