Standard radiation therapy is an effective way to treat many cancers. But it isn't perfect. It kills cancer cells, but it also kills some healthy cells in its path through the body. That's just one of the reasons Mayo Clinic is bringing a new type of radiation therapy to its patients. It's called proton beam therapy, and it has the potential to cure more cancers with greater safely, and help people live longer. Learn more: http://mayocl.in/2gVKTKs

I'm NOT so concerned about potentially killing some healthy cells whilst trying to aim for cancer cells... but... when the Proton Beam zaps a cell and if/when the cell dies (becomes no longer operative as a cell), you have this decaying lump of a dead cell.  I would think that and all the other dead cells that are killt by the Proton Beam would be a bad BAD thing to leave inside the body.  Those dead cells have no motivation to usher themselves out of the body. Q:  HOW do those killt cells not infect and damage the remainer of what is left of the body?  Do those killt cells just REMAIN there, decaying all around them?  What IF there are lots and lots of killt cells, and they are not removed by whatever means to prevent damaging the remainder of the body, would that not situation cause crippling infections? Please address these concerns in this comment.  Thnax.

If I'm not mistaken they become [like] scare tissue which gets reabsorbed by the body.
