I was diagnosed with this 9 years ago. never actually took the time to understand myself. i feel like i should be sad because of it, but this is my reality. and i’m glad there are so many people to support each other
Pleaase help me, i cant breathe. I was diagnosed with IEM, 60% failed peristalsis and as a consequence i have debilitating respiratory reflux symptoms. No heartburn, no swallowing issues, only painful breathing upon inhaling.

Got diagnosed by Mitchell A. Mah'moud in Rocky Mount, NC when I couldn't get the food down one thanksgiving. I cut out milk then worked my way to a vegan diet. I have never felt better and never had another case of Esophagitis. By the way Dr. Mahmoud wanted to put me on prilosec and I refused as it had nothing to do with prilosec and prilosec weakens the bones. I am so glad I went vegan. These doctors don't know what is up. Eat suffering (dairy and meat both are suffering) and become suffering.
Eoe can lead to ep bar , which is an uncureable cancer.
I wouldn't call that harmless.
I'm stuck eating rice and chicken the rest of my life, I wouldn't call that nothing.
Also I I have eoe, and do not have any impaction or food getting stuck.
This video is only partly true.
Hi fellow sufferer. I suffer no more. I went vegan after first cutting milk. I didn't like the idea of cutting everything and then drinking Ensure or whatever and trying things one at a time. Tom Brady gave me the confidence to cut dairy and then Joey Carbstrong gave me the confidence to go vegan. I never have a throat closing and don't need to drink gallons of water to keep my throat lubricated. It is a major relief. I went through so many Ear Nose and Throat doctors before a doctor in NC diagnosed me but he wanted me on prilosec. Prilosec is a money machine for big pharma and I recommend going vegan as it worked for me.
Veganism worked for me. It really did. I started with cutting milk and cheese and all dairy and then I realized the elimination diet was a vegan diet. It is amazing and I don't feel like I have to cause any more suffering. I was diagnosed after thanksgiving by Dr Mahmoud in Rocky Mount, NC when I tried to eat a day after thanksgiving and I hadn't done the required lubrication of my throat first. I think they are putting some chemicals in the environment and we are susceptible to them and that is why we have this disease.
I was diagnosed with this about two years ago. I have had the symptoms for about 17 years however I sometimes have issues of getting liquids down. Last night was by far my worst night ever. I threw up about 20 times over a span of 4 hours when finally I could feel something drop down and it was instantaneous relief. I literally thought I was going to have to go to the ER, that's how miserable I was. Usually when I throw up it relieves the problem in one go but not so last night. I NEVER want to go through that again.
I was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis this week. I was sent to the ER after I got chicken breast stuck in my throat and had to have a upper endoscopy. I had know idea this condition even existed! I'm 41. Looking back I've had problems swallowing food all my life. It's been a big surprise to find out I have food allergies. Trying to learn as much as I can about EoE. I've cut wheat and dairy out of my diet. I'm going to see what the results are after 2 months. There is a lot of conflicting info out there. It's hard to know where to start. I've also got acid re flux but I'd told it's unrelated to my EoE.
dot1spot Did your doctor put you on a PPI trial first? Also, a 6 food Elimination diet is very effective, eliminating dairy, gluten, soy, egg, fish, and nuts. After if you have histological remission you can reintroduce the foods to find the trigger (s).
To say it is not debilitating is false. And it is not just a disease of the Esophagus. The Eosinophlils accumulate in other tissue cause fibromyalgia like symptoms like join pain and fatigue.
Acid blocking is an idiotic treatment for. What the fuck is wrong with you? You are no specialist in this.
Yeah these doctors lie so much. I was told to take prilosec and I did a little research. It is a major money maker and I realized that it didn't apply to my case. I had the esophagis expansion procedure. The thing that helped was first cutting dairy and then going vegan. I don't know what the put into the environment but I am ok now.
Good to finally see a comment that addresses join pain and white blood cell accumulation in other areas of the body. Honestly doctors don't know how to fix, so shotgunning every possible approach is the only real option...
My brother has this and gastro entritis. Turns out in recent developments they've found a gene for it, and my father was just diagnosed with it. Idk what to think but I don't wana see another person deal with it and I'm horrified to have it happen to me as well. I hope something happens soon, a cure seems unlikely but perhaps much better improvement. When my father had his esophagus close and choked badly on food, I was hoping it wouldn't turn out to be this. I was hoping it was just a freak thing, hell honestly part of me was hoping it could be some kind of cancer cuz there's more knowledge on that than these diseases. As horrible as that sounds... Idk what to think. Horrible disease.
I have this crap. The worst it ever got for me was it would take me 90 mins to eat a bowl of oatmeal and even water was starting to get clogged when swallowing. The doc said I had alot of scars in my esophagus. I had the stretch procedure done twice and had to take prednisone and still take the flovent inhaler.
I had this back in 5th grade (6 years ago) when no one seemed to know it existed. I had felt like I was choking when I was eating anything except for ice cream, and I was losing weight so bad I was 61 pounds when I started sixth grade lmao. But after months of going to several doctors they finally found out what it was and I had to take that nasty chalk medicine and Flovent and it went away for the most part in a year, and it's entirely gone now.
On the diet now. Rough as fu. I just began the diet in Mars(March).
I'll only get a camera shoot of my oesophagus somewhere in June.
The 6 ingredients are that, but if after the check with a camera was non-conclusive regarding the allergic reactions, the diet will have served nothing. And thus the diet begins anew.
I'll have to speak with my doctor for a while i also take anti-acids but they ceased to work. (Over-acidity in stomach lessens your digestion of food and thus you can't get the nutrition value you should).
Eliminate Gluten (wheat), Dairy, Soy, Fish, Tree nuts/Peanuts, and Eggs. After having been away from each food group for about 6-8 weeks, you can slowly try adding one food per week to assess whether or not you have a heightened response to any of them, thereby allowing you to know for sure which foods to avoid. Sometimes voiding all 6 groups long term is required.
I hate having EoE. Im being treated at sick kids, but we still dont know what Im allergic too. Theyre theory is that its caused by environmental factors in my case because I havent responded to a 6 food elimination diet.
