It can happen in an instant: Your car ends up in the water, and it’s sinking fast. Here’s how to get out.
Step 1: Calm down
Stem panic by reminding yourself that your car will usually float for a minute or two before it begins to sink. Use this time to unfasten your seat belt, open the driver-side window or a sunroof, and unlock the doors.
As long as you keep your keys in the ignition, the electrical system likely will work until the car is submerged enough for the system to short out.
Step 2: Break the window
If you were unable to open your side window, break it with your elbow, heels, or -- better still -- anything pointy you have on hand, like a pen or screwdriver. Aim for the center of the window. Don’t bother with the windshield; it's made to be unbreakable.
Hardware stores sell tools specifically designed to break car windows in an emergency.
Step 3: Undress
If the car is sinking slowly, take off your shoes. If you’re wearing jeans and you have time, remove those as well. Both weigh you down, making swimming to the surface more difficult.
Step 4: Get out
Climb out the window before the car becomes submerged, and swim to the surface.
Memorize the acronym POGO: Pop seat belt, Open the window, and Get Out.
Step 5: Wait until car fills
If you were unable to get out through the window, don’t panic! Let the car fill with water, knowing that once it does, the water pressure inside and out will be equalized, allowing you to open the door and escape.
Hang on to the door handle as the car fills with water so you don’t float and become disoriented if the car flips.
Step 6: Open the door
When the water reaches your chin, take a deep breath and hold it. Then open the door and swim out headfirst. If you’re not sure which way is up, look for bubbles and swim in the direction in which they’re rising.

Whoever made this video clearly doesn't know that the head rests have pointy prongs on the ends of them. In an emergency you take the head rest off the seat and use the pointed ends to break the window.
Make sure you bring a snorkel outfit if you need one, also, open the car door, if you get out, wear the snorkel, the goggles help you see well in the water, the snorkel helps you to breathe, though its impossible to do this.

I always drive with my windows down because at least once every week, I have a different nightmare that always end up with me trying to get out of a car that's submerged in a lake/ocean. It can be from a cliff, or a bridge falling apart, or just not turning soon/hard enough. The first thing that I always do in those dreams is roll my window down, but of course, naturally, I can never get it all the way down or I can't unbuckle my seat belt to get out because it's a nightmare and I can't move my muscles in my sleep, so I'm not going to be moving them in my dreams.
So, now I am deathly afraid of driving by water, water in general, and, especially, dark and deep water. Also, with respect to those who do, I don't believe in symbolic dream meanings/dreams telling the future. I'm a very "no fate, just coincidences" kind of person in general. I just figure I dream about what I think about. I've always been a very anxious person, and even before these nightmares, I would (in real life) think about what would happen/what I would do if the car I was in simply fell into water. So now, whenever I'm dreaming about driving next to water, my brain is obviously going to connect these thoughts to my dream, except it will actually stimulate them and not just feel like I'm thinking about it. I don't think it means "The car represents your path to success and the waters are your obstacles that you must overcome" or whatever. Anyway, thanks for reading my life story ! x
