"3 Simple Steps that can Save Your Life"
An Australian Surf Lifesaving Champion and 47 year old father of 4, tragically died as the result of a heart attack while driving his car.
Many people are taken from us too soon and die young, so why did this champion's tragic passing affect me so much?
Many reasons really:
Dean was always a phenomenal competitor, unfazed by large surf and often winning against the odds. He had the heart of a lion and always gave his all- he seemed bulletproof and larger than life.
He died aged 47. I will be 47 in November.
He was an elite athlete and always supremely fit.
His untimely death high-lighted the difference between
Fitness and Health. Even supremely fit people are not automatically healthy as well.
His heart condition could not have been genetic because surely it would have been uncovered during training or competition.
It appears that his condition could only have been acquired as a result of lifestyle habits.
The standard Western diet contributes to heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, chronic inflammation and even some cancers. We are focused on sharing the research findings that enable everyone to make better informed health choices and Dean's tragic death will serve as a timely reminder
drive us forward in our mission to positively impact the lives, health and well-being of 1 million people over 40 worldwide.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Dean's family and the Surf Livesaving community.
Life is precious, value those you love and care about and become better informed about our health habits.
